@Jestina - I'm not sure what it is you're trying to prove by repetitively critiquing the game (and now bashing the fanbase on top of that) - no one here is suddenly gonna "see the light" and turn away from Skyrim or Bethesda in general, and especially not due to your ill-advised efforts.

They decided to start a flame war at the mere mention of some serious problems in the game. If they expected cozy time, i'm sure Bethesda has their own community.

Well, this is the Skyrim thread - 99.999% of the people in here are in love with the game, so criticizing it is certainly gonna rustle some jimmies. Or did you seriously expect a more tempered reaction?

Personally I still can't get into Skyrim; I play on a PC and reinstalled last week and downloaded a LOT of mods...it looks great graphically but I still can't help feeling bored. I already uninstalled it. I think I spent more time figuring out how to mod it than I did playing it.

The pacing feels very slow, and the story is still not very interesting. I think the voice actors did great with what they were given to work with though.

^Heh, some of those glitches are just glorious - I also like the raining mammoths, backwards flying dragons, and Louis Letrush army. TES games provide no shortage of amusements, even if by accident or neglect.

If you are honestly annoyed by bugs dont play a TES game.

Bugs are part of the game nothing can be done about that.

I've started a new game as a Nord archer. It's the one thing I didn't try and it's very fun so far.

Last time I played the game was many patches ago and a few things already feel different. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it feels different. Seems my FPS count is also higher, but that could be video drivers as well.

@SebastianDA: You have to love exploration to like the TES games. I do. Some people don't, and unsurprisingly they get bored. The main plot isn't particularly fantastic in Skyrim and it is just a tiny part of the game anyway. Morrowind had the better main plot out of the most recent three TES games, but even in that game the meat of the experience was in the exploration and the factions.

On the other hand, in some games you are railroaded through the whole thing. Some people love that, but I am often bored to tears. The story has to be downright fantastic to make up for it, and in most games it just isn't.

That attitude is probably why Bethesda never fixes anything. This is supposed to be an A game, yet they released it in a state that felt worse than some indy games i've played. And of course they slapped an A game price on it, even with all the problems it has.

Did you ever stop to think that people aren't rating the game based on its technical merits, and more on the sheer fun factor? A lot of people (myself included) have a lot of fun playing and get deeply immersed in this game, bugs or not. We don't need to overthink things and let the bad keep us from enjoying the good.

@Jestina - You either need to learn how to read or get a new act.

I don't post on this forum a lot, but we have discussed and mentioned Skyrim's flaws enough that I can list posters by name and tell you what they don;t like about the game.

Giggles can't stand the Blades and how their story was handled
Addai loves TES lore but is not thrilled with the storyline of DG
Happy Daiz has difficulty sticky with a character on a complete playthrough and winds up making new ones.

Hell, much of this thread is devoted to people asking about mods to IMPROVE the aspects of the game we don't like.

I have yet to see a poster applaud the way marriage and relationships are handled in this Skyrim.

What makes Skyrim -- and ALL other excellent games as they all have bugs and ****ty aspects to them -- good and memorable games is what they do well overshadows the stuff we don't like. We know Skyrim has flaws (and there are many) but we spend most of the time talking about the good aspects because we like the game.

If I was in the mood to bemoan about a game failing to live up to expectations, I'd go to the DA2 forums.

This isn't exactly earth shattering stuff here...

Only an A game? Here I thought it was a triple A title.

7 patches in 7 months.  Show me another  game developer who pumps out fixes more frequently.   Oh wait, I already asked you that question and your response was...  Er....der....  the level scaling suxxors!

Then again, your whole schtick is pointless and bugs are  at the back of that list.  Skyrim changed the  face of the industry.  Selling 12 million copies (as an RPG!) and winning  over 200 awards.  Yeah.  You'll never overcome that.  It's the impregnable bottom line here.

Just ignore the troll. The payoff is obviously our annoyance.

I'm playing Morrowind... or at least, started. I got to Balmora on foot. Progress! Man this game is hardcore compared to Oblivion and Skyrim. I had to wait til nightfall to replenish my health and woke up to a DB assassin attacking me. And nobody will flirt with my character, not even other Nords. *cry*  I ate some bread and crabmeat to replenish fatigue and actually failed at it.  lol  Nothing quite like failing at eating.

CDProjekt!

Skyrim is great but changed the face of the industry? Call of Duty changed the "face of the industry" granted not for better but you get my point.

The beginning is the difficult part here. Morrowind gets much easier, at least if you level your character in a semi-reasonable fashion. Same madness as in Oblivion applies here if you are into min-maxing but I have played through without it and that was perfectly possible.

Particlarly the DB assassins in the beginning are crazy.

Oh, and Morrowind is NOT aggressively level-scaled (but yes there is some scaling going on). Go to the wrong place in the beginning, you die. I like it that way, but I understand if it's not to everyone's liking.

A couple of tweaks that would make my play time slightly easier: Consistantly showng companion health, sometimes it appears when they are hurt, sometimes it doesn't, I'd like the info so I can use healing hands on them. Also I've said this before but when a guard tells you about a destination or you talk to a merc on his way to "trouble" and he sells you his contract, some way of actually indicating on the map the new place they added would be nice.

A couple of times in the last few days my companions have turned on me for reasons I don't understand. First while walking along the northern coast Serana got into some trouble with horkers attacking her, her and Jordis attacked them. So I joined in firing arrows into the nearest horker. Next thing I know Jordis is claiming I'm not a Nord and attacking me, Serana joins in and both refused to back down, I had to reload. Last night I'm taking on a cave of vampires, I take out the last one using Dawnbreaker which sets off the undead hitting explosion(just realised this is a bad thing with Serana around). Next thing I know Bran is charging me and trying to bite my face off, he's not undead I don't think so whats his problem? I'm becoming the most hated man in Skyrim.

I hate when you climb a mountain the hard way only to look over and spot a path about 20 feet to your left with your companions standing staring up at you like you're dry humping a troll. They can barely navigate a bridge, who are they to judge?

A funny thing happened at Shearpoint yesterday; the mountainous Word Wall with a dragon and dragonpriest in tow.

After concluding the Imperial side of the Civil War , Cassandra continues the Main Storyline, and manages to release Thalmor prisoners from both the Embassy and the Ratway in Riftin. But while her Blade associates make their way elsewhere, the Dragonborn decides to gather a few close Shouts, as her spells and repetiore need bolstering before encountering Alduin again.

Our heroine finally arives atop the mountain (over 900+ hrs, and I still get lost finding paths), and manages to get a decent stealthed sniping roost away from a sleeping dragon. After a rather nasty wake-up call in the form of an Elven arrow, the drake takes flight with a couple more shots for good measure. This is where things became a bit wierd, as Cassandra noticed the sound of falling arrows close to her position, and she had thought her aim was better than that. Oh well....

While still under stealth and a few more shots at a hovering Blood Dragon later, Cassandra places a killing shot to the drake near the Word Wall, and carefully makes her way down the boulders towards the corpse in order to get gain needed power and Shouts. Cue the awakening Dragonpriest, and a needed retreat back up the boulders to the sniping nest.

But unlike past encounters that I have seen here, the Priest seems to almost immediately spot the location and begins to spam Fireballs at me... er, her... us, as the spells miss a safe distance away, but ruin the day for the lesser trained Stormcloak avenger above the nest. So that is where those falling arrows originated!

The Priest ascends the steep incline far to the right and vanishes from view, and the smoldering Stormcloak disappears, too. Now unable to go back up the hill, as Cassandra had dropped to the lower elevation of the nest from a ledge, she waits to see who appears. And waits, and waits some more. Nobody. And after several minutes, the Dragonborn decides to descend again towards the Word Wall, and make a stand there.

So after gaining the desired Shouts and dragon soul, Cassandra sneaks her way back up the mountain in search of the Dragonpriest, and soon notices the hovering sack of bones staring up the path with his back to her. One shot later, the mask is collected, and now the search continues for the Stormcloak, but all she finds is her grazing steed safe and well away from the fire fight.

Now I wish I could say that the horse killed the Stormcloak, but no body was ever discovered, and I play with the same cautionary mindset as I have for TV and films (ie; no corpse means the possibility of life). And I used Quick Travel to return to Whiterun, so I am feeling somewhat secure. But what I find amusing is that this robed Dragonborn managed to clear Shearpoint with less required healing than any previous encounter, and all due to an avenging AI.

^ The mystery murderer of Skyrim has made itself known to you too? I was walking from Riften to Whiterun this morning and just over a slight hill on the road I see someone firing ice magic into the sky. Assuming a fight is going on and fearing its an innocent NPC being attacked I charge up the road and over the hill. What do I find? An ash pile, it was someone with a note saying they have been sent to get Azura's Star back from me. So I look around but see no one and no creatures. Using Aura Whisper and Detect Life produced no results, there was no one or nothing around for miles. This is not the first time this has happened. Who is this mystery murderer of Skyrim?

I've taken to using detect life on anyone I meet now because of growing vampire paranoia.

@ Joy_Division: Well said.
@Addai: Wait until your last bit of Magicka fails when you need it most....like when you are casting a levitation spell REALLY high in the freaking air.

I too have had a mystery killer on the loose.
I was wandering around Dawnstar, and heard someone yell "A FIGHT!" I came around the corner to find a dead guard but no enemy...

Odd.

Well....damn.

I was talking to one of my friends playing Dawnguard and he said the Vampires reminded him a lot of Elizabeth Bathory.

^ Ah, the Countess of Blood. I saw a few shows about her on the history channel. I haven't been around vampires very much so far but they gave off a Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibe during our one interaction.

I think Cicero is standing by a farm awaiting me to interact with him. It remains a mystery.

The Dawnguard are rather...special. I dismissed Jordis back to Solititude and a few minutes later was leaving fort dawnguard, while walking out the gate I saw a battle ensue. Whats this? Dawnguard versus vampires on their own doorstep? No, Jordis versus three vampires while the DG soldiers just stood hiding behind their gate. Then I'm on some DG quests, I borrowed a horse from Riften and I'm inside a cave doing a radiant quest, finish it up in 2 minutes and pop out. Horse is gone as per usual, I go to hunt it down and discover another DG member has stolen my damn horse and is mouthing off about being on important business. I attempted to follow her but she was going so damn slow and passed my destination anyway so I gave up.

Bran confuses me, detect life shows him as alive but dawnbreakers undead explosion thing definately hits him and Serana.

I also just encountered a horker on dry land in the middle of the map and four friendly frostbite spiders. They were friendly to me but attacked my companions. I rained death upon them.

This.

Me? Everytime someone links to a Skyrim bug video, I end up watching several just because of how funny they all are. I don't enjoy any Bethesda games but they certainly know how to make their games into laughing-stocks. I'll give them that. Even Two Worlds 1 with its terrible voice acting and death cries of NPC's isn't as funny as half the bugs and glitches in Oblivion and Skyrim.

Lionhead, Obsidian and Bethesda seem to be the three musketeers of bugs and glitches. Though with Lionhead, it's just plain game ending bugs and not funny ones.
