Wait, so the rebels are the nords who wish to secede from the empire?

Also, no doubt that collectors edition is a waste of money for just a statue. Reminds me a lot of the MK9 Kollector's edition...

Why should they rule me and mine from some flowery seat in the south? Why shouldn't we rule ourselves again? It was the Septims we bowed to, but all the Septims are dead! There is only one King I intend to bow my knee to.

When deciding who to aid in the rebellion, I'm going to get info and ideals of both sides and make a determination that way. It might be a Skyrim civil war, but it could turn regional if the Elder Council in Cyrodiil deem a war is necessary. Although we are heir to Tamriel's throne as Emperor...so it may be up to us what to do. Dragons are back, Morrowind is no longer controlled by Dunmer but Argonians...plenty of strife.

This game is going to absorb my life.

The only good imp is a dead one. We must fight, to victory or death. FOR THE REPUBLIC.... In the north.

We are supposed to be getting new footage before the end of summer, as well as a screenshot of a Dunmer Thief in a couple of days.

Here are 26 interesting new things we have learned in the past two days from QuakeCon:

  • - joinable Rebel faction
  • - pickpocket skill provides greater RP opportunities and much more realistic thievery for thieves
  • - myriad options for facepaint
  • - char gen remembers your settings when switching to different races
  • - even minor NPCs have much more complexity and depth compared with Oblivion
  • - you can persuade various random NPCs to accompany you and they feel like fleshed out, interesting companions
  • - there are six different stages to crafting items (refining crude ore, assembling materials, not sure what the other 4 stages are but it sounds a hell of a lot more complex than Oblivion and Morrowind crafting)
  • - more realistic alchemy labs instead of spamming health potions in the middle of a dungeon
  • - in addition to alchemy ingredients there are also reagents (more complex alchemy system than Oblivion)
  • - some spells you find as spell tomes and others you purchase from merchants, but spells definitely not perks
  • - hand to hand attacks have a much improved gravity and physicality
  • - the first encounter with Rebel soldiers (Stormcloaks) escorting a prisoner sounds AWESOME - you can choose various options, like setting the prisoner free, giving him a sword, etc. Quests in general sound like there are more ways to complete them
  • - Bosmer look better than in Oblivion
  • - traveling merchants camp beside rivers
  • - you can learn Alchemy by trial and error, tasting unknown ingredients or making potions with unknown effects
  • - lockpicking mini-game improved
  • - Bards confirmed in Falkreath
  • - MYSTERIOUS BLACK DOOR!!!!
  • - you can hold onto your perk slots instead of choosing a perk at each level up
  • - you can add laugh lines in character generator
  • - you can give a Dunmer one red and one gray eye in the character generator
  • - loading screens look cool
  • - after murdering innocents in Falkreath Hold, the PC in one of the demos crossed the border into White Hold and no one bothered him
  • - there is a Two-Handed perk called "Barbarian"
  • - "DOZENS" of sliders for character creation
  • - using fast travel now costs money

*Suppresses fanboyism*

Promises have been made before in previous Bethesda games and they have extremely been disappointing in execution.

But those are some really really nice things and it's hard not to get even a little taken in by the hype.

I'll have peace of those terms. They can keep their white gold tower and their iron chair too.

This game has the potential to be the greatest game ever. A long way away from that, but the potential is there. :)

Any new gameplay footage yet?

Collectors Edition revealed...

http://uk.xbox360.ig.../1186476p1.html

Don't think I'll bother with it, overly expensive and not to my tastes. I wish it was more like the Oblivion CE, I'd rather they didn't come with these overly expensive statues. Aw well I'm happy enough with the regular edition I suppose.

Errr... yeah, i don't know about you, but i think i'll stick with the regular edition.

Regular edition for me too.    Ok its a cool statue, but to a little to expensive for me.

Game.co.uk is my retailer and as you can see its £130.  Which means your paying £90 for the artbook and statue.

Yeah only a mental person or Manchester City would pay that price. I'd pay maybe £10-£15 extra for the dvd, map, art book and some kind of book expanding on the lore. I don't need or want a statue and certainly wouldn't py £90 for one. Even if I did want one I'm sure you can get much better dragon statues for cheaper.

I haven't been this excited about a game since Shenmue, everything I hear just adds to the excitement. The only negative I've heard was a hint that the combat might possibly still be a bit ropey but I can forgive that if its true and its any sort of improvement on Oblivion's. I started playing New Vegas 2 weeks ago and it's only increased my excitement, best game I've played this year by a mile and getting me properly psyched for Skyrim.

LOL!

and the Real Madrid too.

Hate to be a debbie downer here but that menu system looks awful. Lists, lists and more lists. Strictly gamepad stuff.

Graphics are ok I guess. Spells look awesome.

Yeah, but I'm happy to see the books open up like books. The notes look like real notes. The map looks fantastic. The constellation  system looks cool enough visually for me to overlook any consolitis in its design.  So long as you can speedily scroll with mouse wheel through the lists, that'll be ok.

And Skyrim will have mods. So modders will hopefully fix anything thats mucked up.

Personally I hated Oblivion's inventory/spell lists and I think the new UI menu is a massive improvement.

I end up with 100s of items and 100s of spells and half the time I spend scrolling through these lists to find the dozen or so items that I actually use.

with the favorites list we can easily access 10 or 20 (or more) items/powers/spells/shouts that we use on a regular basis.
