This is fast becoming my favorite playthrough thus far (I always say that, though). I'm finally using Destruction magic to the point where I'm getting some cool new spells. Chain lightning? I'll take it. It would be nice to actually do the mastery quests for the college, for once.

Don't bother with the Master-level Destruction spells. You're a sitting duck for three seconds (which is quite a long time when you're in the thick of it) and you're prone to being interrupted. Plus, when you keep the charge time in mind, the spells are relatively weak in my opinion. You'd better stay with Adept or Expert projectile spells.

^ You have just crushed my hopes and dreams. I hope you're happy with yourself. Image IPB Ah well, thus continues my Khajiit's life of crime.

I just got the model ship larceny target for Delvin in the TG, and was shocked to see how far that thing flew. It landed at the opposite side of the room, one full level down, by the door where you enter the area. I was lucky to have found it, since it blended in so well with the dead Draugr it was laying next to.

Dawnguard DLC brought with it some bugs within the Thieves Guild quests. The special quests to take control of each city is messed up. Not in a bad way, I guess - each time you complete one and turn it in, you get to collect 200 septims for each of the other special quests you've already completed, too. Not a problem to have, but you do get stuck listening to Delvin's whole speel yet again if you do decide to collect the 200 septims.

Ouiet casting is one of the perks of Illusion I do enjoy; used it a lot with my Bound Bow Assassin played much earlier. Of course, if you are around a corner, having the enemy seek out the sound of the disturbance can save time.....

For me, Destruction magic is about the various Cloaks; much better for my style of play than trying to aim at fast moving targets. But due to casting times and rating effects vs invested interest, Mastery ain't worth it other than completing the course work. In fact, the actual tests are more fun and enjoyable than the gained spells. IMO.

Destruction magic is still a worthy addition to your combat repertoire. Watch Ancient Dragons bow before you as you dual-cast Expert-level projectile spells of the element that particular dragon is weak to.

Of course, that requires that you pick Augmented Flames/Frost in order to stagger the beast, whichever applies in that situation.

Cool. I will continue with my flaming, ice bolting, and chain lightning. I did augment Flames, but I haven't leveled up enough to get the perks for the other two yet (and the second level of each). My character is only level 20 at this point, but I'm working on it.

I did opt to ditch mage robes, though, and went with TG armor instead. It just looks better with my brown Khajiit.

Only problem is that without a mod destruction magic becomes utterly pathetic late game.
It just cant even compare to high level weapons.

^ I think TG Guildmaster armour is the best looking armour in the game just ahead of Nightingale armour.

Enchanting my gear thus that I can cast Destruction spells without spending any magicka still renders Destruction magic a very formidable force. Few enemies can withstand a dual-cast Thunderbolt barrage.

Now that I'm back in the Soul Cairn again, I really feel like dabbling in Conjuration with this character - but that would bump my skill set up to 9 skills and I worry it will weaken my character more than I'd like. I'd also have to give up a few perks to put into Conjuration, but I think I could do that easily enough - there are a few unnecessary and semi-useless perks I could toss out.

Still, I want to be cautious - spreading your skill set out too thin will turn your character into a punching bag for higher level enemies, always.

Yeah, I love the Guildmaster armor, but I also like Linwe's Armor. Although with my Khajiit, her furry arms are a little too obvious, and the color isn't quite right. Not sure I like that look. It looked pretty good on my other characters. I might recruit Jenassa, and outfit her in it.

Unless you're Level 81. Neener neener neener to your enemies then.

How you guys reach level 81 is beyond me. My highest level characters is 53.

I create new characters too often to make it up to level 81. If you added all of my playthroughs up, I'm sure I'd have been to 81 and back a few times, but it's just not that important to me. My highest character is right around level 60.

Yeah I do the same. Once I get where I want with one character, I tend to create a new one instead.

I got up to 65 once then simply couldn't continue. And I don't see how one can role play a character who reaches 81. 81 requires that you get to 100 in EVERY skill. your mindset here is pure power-gaming and "completionism", not role playing.

But to each is own. I'm sure there's something to be said for becoming a master sneaky swordsman, archer and dualwielder, then setting it all aside to become the master Illusionist, conjurer, alterationist, destructionist, healer, alchemist, enchanter, locksmith, pickpocket, blacksmith who can talk his way out of trouble better than the entire  bard's college, while using his mastery of the shield to deflect everything else..

And at level 81, how have you spec'd your perks? That seems like a big time investment on perks that may or may not be useful for your play style.

Sometimes I wonder if people have munchkin'd a bit to get to max level. Like Yrkoon said, it's a pretty schitzy play style to be able to switch around like that. Especially switching between armor types. I can't even imagine.

I've no intention of starting over with a new charachter but I'm starting to see issues now that I'm in the 50's. One-handed, sneak and smithing are all at 100, lockpicking and light armour aren't too far off, I'm currently raising enchanting, archery, speech and alchemy. But beyond that I've no interest in becoming a mage so I foresee future leveling problems and getting nowhere near level 81. It just wouldn't suit my character at all being a mage. I may be a tad screwed here.

Sorry, Druss, you may just have to break down and create a NEW one. Oh, the horror. Image IPB Hehehe.

I need to upload photos of the rest of my new characters. I'm already forgetting where I'm at. 15 now? It's getting a tad ridiculous, but I'm super happy with my latest one.

You could just role-play a Jack of All Trades.

A guy who wants to master ALL THE THINGS.

Well at level 60 my main can fight in melee, sneak very well, and is decent at magic.

Kind of fun to sneak by in plate armor though.

Don't worry too much if you have enchanting. It's actually quite easy to powerlevel all magic for example with the 100% spell cost reduction. The most difficult ones are the armor training skills. Oh how I hate leveling those!

But yeah, you're going to own a few different sets of gear.

Leveling pickpocket is often quite fun. People will actually send mercenaries to kill you and take their stuff back. Then when you go visit your angry victims again, clearly they don't know what has happened. So they saw you grabbing their stuff, did NOT respond at all, sent a hitman after you later and then forgot all about it?
