There was a mod that was supposed to add Morrowind drinks to Ambarys' inventory but I could never get it to work. I was looking forward to it. You don't even get a buzz from the poisonous cocktails at the Bee and Barb.Giggles_Manically wrote...
UseSkooma is smoked using skooma pipes or ingested without paraphernalia by drinking it in its liquid form. Moon Sugar can be eaten for a small kick.
I also think Brand-Shei should be fined for false advertising. Where are all those "exotic goods from Morrowind."

By all means. Show me a single RPG that rewards you exp for each action/activity you perform.
I can take any RPG manual out of my bookshelf and point out the cluelessness of that statement. In AD&D for example the suggested experience rewards are for role-play, unique ideas, performing class tasks, meeting goals, questing, combat, etc. In Shadowrun as a further example, the suggested rewards boil down to being similer though more weighted towards overcoming challenge and role-play. Just performing a mundane task would not net experience...say picking a lock...but if you picked a lock to an only exit while an army of goons was coming after you, then yes you would get some reward.

I have to free them, even if my character is neutral (this one is sympathetic and will probably join the cause eventually). Too close to memories from Helgen for comfort.LPPrince wrote...

I mean, it's just a game so we shrug it off but it would be hugely traumatic to have your head on a bloody block with a big axe poised overhead.

Agreed. You know, the game could've used more moments like the intro where we were about to be executed.
After that it seems we're watching things happen, rather than being forced into tough situations.

So no video games..(what we were discussing. Nice try at the goal-post moving though!)Jestina wrote...

Just as I thought. No examples whatsoever. Because there are none. So much for silly false claim #34096 from you.
But just to drive the nail into the coffin further, I will accurately point out that even video games that are directly based on the AD&D (and D&D) ruleset flat out do NOT reward you EXP for a huge bulk of the activities you perform within them. In the BG series, for example, you do not gain a single experience point for sucessfully stealthing around enemies for 1000 straight hours. in the Neverwinter Nights series, you do not gain a single experience point for crafting 10,000 items. Icewind Dale 1 does not grant you a single experience point for unlocking every chest or disarming every trap in the entire game. Pursuading, Bribing, intimidating and bluffing will gain you exactly zero exp in Icewind Dale 2. And No D&D (or AD&D) crpg has ever rewarded you exp for doing what you often spend HOURS and HOURS doing: buying and selling loot.
Continue working on the Fail, and I'll see if I can make it an Olympic event, so you can win a gold medal.

And you're wrong about AD&D. What you listed are SUGGESTIONS. The actual rules stated a PC only got XP by landing the killing blow on a monster. And even then, it was up to the DM to determine whether or not you acted in accordance to your class to see if you actually received all the XP the monster was worth, or a fraction of it.
Because, you know, slaying bugbears with your two-handed sword in your world makes you a better diplomat, pickpocket, and spellcaster.

I'm excited to try out Illia as a follower. I cleared Darklight Tower about a week ago, but finally decided to ditch Lydia last night. I was doing the mage's college quest, where you have to kill the 10 magic anomalies in Winterhold, and she just kept dying.
I knew when I looked over, and saw Arniel Gane raising her from the dead that it was time to reload. After telling Lydia to wait, doing the quest, then telling her to follow, I dumped her butt off at Breezehome, and went to get Illia. Well, after stripping her of all of her goods she was carrying.

Jestina's RPG: Where actually picking locks does not increase your skill in picking locks
You forget to add the mention of Skyrim's crappy system of tying such a mundane skill to your characters overall power progression. But such is the way with ES fanboy's.

Becoming a vampire lord did not do my Nord's face any favors. Her new skin tone and the drips of blood around her eyes, lips and nose (ew) totally clashed with her hair color. Hideous.
I've been thinking about doing a before/after comparison of my Nord. I need to snap a photo of the "after", and will hopefully get one posted in the next couple of days.
Here is the before:
She's really nice, I have to visit the face changer in Riften as soon as I finish the Dawnguard quest and have a poke around with my character. I really need to spend more time doing that in skyrim. At the moment I'm running around in legendary enchanted Daedric armour so I don't often see his face.

You do realize the majority of the rules ar at the DM's discretion? I guess people have forgotten what an RPG is. The books are there as a guideline, not exactly written in stone.

You know, on a slightly different note, I'm really happy that Bethesda added some new voice actors with Dawnguard. Some of the DG followers use existing character voices, but the unique main quest characters mostly all seem to be someone new. One of my favorites these days is Fura Bloodmouth, of Castle Volkihar. She just cracks me up.

Total sidenote, but I actually got Lover's Comfort for the first time, in any of my playthroughs last night, for sleeping with my husband (Sorex Vinius). How lame is that? Usually my spouse is awake 24/7, so it was a surprise to see him sleeping in our bed. I haven't joined the Companions yet, so it's the first time in a long time that I can actually get rested bonuses.
He did say that our house (Breezehome) is a little small, and when I asked him for a homecooked meal, he said I should be making one for him. Rude!

Correction: ALL the rules in D&D's Pen and paper system are at the DM's discretion. Which means your entire argument is a red herring. We were comparing systems, not Dungeon Masters. If you want to argue that your personal DM employs an exp reward system that is better than what's in Skyrim, then go right ahead. I'd never waste a second of my time disputing such a pointless claim.Jestina wrote...

Although, successfully refuting such a claim can still be easily done, as even the suggestions in the official DM's guide are littered with flaws, both illogical and impractacle.

AD&D system has proven outdated and uuseless in Video games, every attempt at using it has either been bogged down or broke. It doesn't work.
Yes, just look at all those failed AD&D based games like the Baldur's Gate games and Planescape Torment.
