So here I was playing Skyrim and I got to thinking.
Where do your dragonborn's call home? What place is where they put their feet up and relax?

For my main its Breezehome.
But my other characters have Jorvasker (Orc), the College (Altmer), Windhelm (Nord), or Solitude (Khajiit)

Breezehome, Proudspire and Honeyside for most characters.  I return to the DB sanctuary and Thieves guild regularly but I almost never visit the College and Jorrvaskr after I'm done with them.

Whiterun is my home, and Solitude is the Summer estate.

And yesterday's escapades and the last three Dragonborns have placed me officially over 1000+ hrs in the game! Guess I am now ready for the DLC!

Honeyside is the house I wind up purchasing the most. Great house for an alchemist with all the recipes you get, the easy fishing, dragonflys always buzzing around, and you get a lot of ingredients from the initial purpose.

I had Aranea as a follower, switched out for Ilia for a while, then went back to Aranea for the duration.  She's awesome.  The mages, when leveled and properly equipped, can really be fearsome.  She had a battlemage set I crafted for her and she never ran out of mana.  Plus, Dunmer.  Erandur is the best but he was always complaining about Windhelm being freezing and my Stormcloak is based there, so it felt like I was torturing him.  Image IPB

Ilia's setup did not strike me as quite so deadly, plus she had that annoying thing where she wanted to use whatever crap hunting bow I handed her rather than her spells.  Who knows.  Follower AI is really capricious.  I'm using Vilkas right now but he seems to have good tactics.  I gave him a Paralyze staff, drainbow and Wuuthrad.  In a group he will start off by shooting a couple paralysis blasts, then firing off some arrows and switching to his axe when enemies close- all very proper.

I used Illia last night, and the first thing she did? Well, we went inside Meridia's temple, and the first thing she did was equip the circlet I gave her. And that was all she was wearing. All I know, is we went in, I turned around, and she was standing there in her smallclothes. Brilliant! I immediately took the circlet from her.

We did that quest, and the Labyrinthian one for the mage's college (well, and kicked the snot out of Ancano). She did ok, but she's missing that certain something-something that makes a knock-out follower for me. She seemed to prefer using miscellaneous Falmer staffs I'd picked up, in lieu of magic. Most of the time, she was running around with two of them in her hands.

Do I switch now, or let her level a few times with me? Right now, I'd say that I prefer Eola or Belrand to her. But I do miss having a Dunmer follower. Well, I guess Azura's shrine will be next stop for this party bus.

Oh! I almost forgot! Ancano's friend that stops and fights you before you leave Labyrinthian said something kinda funny to my Khajiit - "You remind me of my neighbor's cat. I killed that, too!" Well, it was more of a taunt.

I always get Breezehome first, then Vlindrel Hall, then finally Hjerim, which is my favorite. I do buy Proudspire and Honeyside, too, but they more or less are just for sleeping or dumping gear. Usually by level 25 or so, I have more cash than I know what to do with, so why not?

When I buy a house, the first thing I do is hang the "Axe of [Whiterun]", or whatever, inside the house. It's like the proverbial bottle of bubbly.

I have not used Illia or Belrand - used most of the other mages characters in the game though, and the best is still Eola IMHO. Serana has also proven to be a pretty skilled mage, though she still lacks that certain "oomph" Eola has.

Too bad Eola and her coven ended up as a midnight snack in my werewolf's belly - such a waste. Got a perk out of it though, at least. >:D

Its still kind of Ironic to eat a bunch of cannibals no?

Ah, but that's the brilliance of it - it's poetic justice at its finest. I was invited to their little cannibal dinner to eat some poor fool - only for me to turn the dinner inside out and eat the cannibals instead. Hircine would've been proud.

Congratulations greengoron, you've killed about half of the Markarth NPCs. =D

^Not counting the entire population of Cidhna Mine - they all ended up as lunch as well.

Well, everyone except Grisvar the "Unlucky" - turns out his luck made a comeback on that day. He's still doomed to mine silver for the rest of his days, though. XD

Speaking of killing NPCs, I think I'm gonna start knocking off people on my "hit list" - I just slashed Faendal's throat and dumped him in the river after witnessing him coming out of Lucan's shop. I knew what he was up to - not gonna let that fugly elf steal any more of my homey Sven's thunder.

Got a few other people on the list, but I haven't decided if, how, or when to kill them just yet. At least three people in Whiterun could end up dead (Nazeem, Heimskr, and Idolaf Battle-Born) before it's all said and done (Anoriath as well, from the DB contract on him). Hogni Red-Arm is already dead, so no need to worry about him any longer. >:D

If you haven't tried Belrand, you should give him a chance. As the only spellsword follower in the game, he has a nice balance of spell-casting and melee. He'll even use a bow with some proficiency, and he wears light armor. He gets really good if you allow him to stay for a while. I enjoy his comments while you're delving into Nordic ruins and the like. He's just a very cool follower.

Your werewolf ate Eola? What? Hehehe. When we were with her, clearing out Reachcliff Cave, I was using a staff of fireballs, when I ran out of magicka, and she was casting some crazy stuff, and it was chaos trying to see the enemies. Next thing I know, a Quest Failed message came up. Eola was laying face down in one of my fireballs. Oops.

Alas, I reloaded, to get the ring and Verulus' robe. Image IPB

I don't understand why Heimskr is so hated. He preaches about Talos in an Imperial-controlled city, potentially earning him the ire of the Thalmor. Doing what the Thalmor dislike makes you my friend.

Actually, I did not eat Eola - I respected her enough to simply jump on her and slash her up with my claws. Everyone else in the room though was fair game except for Verulus.

Also, Heimskr is loud and obnoxious as hell - and Whiterun is no longer Imperial-controlled. I'm probably not gonna kill him though anyway, so it doesn't matter. Nazeem and Idolaf are still prime candidates for a good ol' throat-slashing, though.

Illia will eventually get dual blizzards and use nothing else.  I prefer Aranea or Eola for versatility.

I'm considering executing a few people in Solitude as well - mainly the ones who cheered on at Roggvir's execution. Also, Kjeld the Younger is a smart ass and I'm tired of him getting an attitude with me every time I go to Kynesgrove. Sibbi Black-Briar might also be found dead in his cell by the jail guards as well.

By the Nine, so many annoying NPCs in this game that I hate - half of Skyrim's population could be gone if I continue on this route.

Oh yes, I can see how killing Sibbi Black-Briar could be very satisfying. Simply monstrous how he wants to do cruel things to his ex-fiancée and he's arrogant to boot. Make it extra painful. =D

God I hate Idolaf.  I kill him in every playthrough.  His dad Olfrid is essential and stands in his son's room ALL NIGHT LONG.  He eventually puts a hit out on me for killing his precious baby boy.

Wow, so much NPC hate! Some of the ones mentioned used to bother me, but I tune them out. Sometimes I even join Heimskr in his speel, since I know the whole thing by heart, now. I don't blame the guy. I always let the Hanar preach about the Enkindlers in the Citadel Presidium in ME1, too.

It seems like I always get TG shill jobs to plant stolen items in Heimskr's house. I wonder how many people in Whiterun he's torqued off.

Killing Nazeem is something I can definitely get on board with. Maybe even Belethor, but who will buy all my garnets and amethysts, if not him? Oh yeah, my TG fences.

I went to Winterhold last night to check on things, and Birna's body was still laying in the street. Someone had removed her clothes, though. Image IPB

Aye, Belethor used to be on my hit list, but I had to take him off to preserve the general store in Whiterun. I always thought Sigurd would take over for Belethor - but I guess not. Seems I'm stuck with that obnoxious ass of a shopkeeper.

^ I'm guessing Elrindir would probably take over with The Drunken Huntsman in that regard. Or maybe Ysolda could open up a shop?

Does she ever actually take over the Bannered Mare? I haven't seen that in any of my playthroughs yet.

Hey, at least she won't have to buy it from Hulda anymore. You get to sate your bloodlust, she gets to take over the inn with ease, everyone's happy. Except for Hulda, of course.

Harrold might make a nice snack for a werewolf in Riftin, unless of course that the Stormcloaks are proud of his support and example while he attacks walls....

But the most annoying NPC is Braith; the child bully of Whiterun. Even after halting her attacks on Lars, she still wishes to pick a fight... even if I am her Elder. While it is easy to excuse her bravado and misplaced courtship rituals, she is one of the more common encounters right in front of my home, and will follow me in to finish her taunts. Pehaps I should have given her name to the guys with curved swords at the gate....
