The thief? Yeah, seen two of those already. Here I am, at my carry limit and a guy hands me a heavy mace. Thanks guy, screw you too!

Anyway I have a question. For how long will the Amulet of Talos stay a quest item? I'm carrying two of them.

It isn't the only quest item I could never get rid of. Another character has a witch head and some other stuff. Really annoying!

For the witch head, I assume you finished up the Companions quest line? If you haven't, you need to - at least the main part of it. If it won't leave your inventory after that questline is done, that's a bummer. Not sure about the Amulet of Talos. Did you complete Return to Grace?

I was stuck with a Giant Toe in my last playthrough, and had no idea which quest it was related to. I had to carry 3 of them around, because I couldn't store any of them.

In an older playthrough, I was stuck with Habd's Remains for the longest time, until someone here told me that you had to burn his remains at the top of the lighthouse. Derp. I totally missed that. And Sailor's Repose is awesome.

The Book of Love seems bugged this time around for me. I hooked Fastred up with Bassianus, and am supposed to talk to him, but can't find him anywhere. He said he was going to go talk to Fastred, but they've both vanished. I'm hoping they'll just show up in Riften eventually, but I'm guessing not.

Yep, that was AFTER finishing it. I believe you can somehow collect too many heads and be stuck with some. I also had a bug where I could not cure lycanthropy and had to reload a previous game. But I believe some of these bugs have been fixed since then.

And no I guess I need to complete Return to Grace. I can look it up myself though, thanks.

Yeah, I think you're right. I'm always worried about the witch head thing too (and that stupid necromancer amulet), but I'm happy to say that both of those cleared out of my inventory correctly the last couple of times.

Heh, I have the necromancer amulet right now. At least it weighs nothing :)

My mistake was that instead of selling it to Calixto, I was keeping it, so it never got the new name or specs, and just stayed in my inventory. Forever.

Yeah, I won't be doing that again. Image IPB

New name or specs? I thought you just sold it!

Tell me it doesn't have some unique enchant I'll be missing out on :)

Giant's Toe is for A Night to Remember. It's one of the fake ingredients Sanguine has you collect to repair his staff.

Strange Amulet you have to sell to Calixto before finishing Blood on the Ice. You can then loot it off his body as the Necromancer Amulet. I never used it but with the Better Mage Rewards mod it became a must-have. +130 magicka boost  Image IPB... that's kind of cheesy, but I had to do it. Playing a Nord mage is tough at first.

^ Yeah, I'd forgotten about A Night to Remember.

I don't blame you at all for using the boost on a Nord. I've had some hurdles to overcome as a Khajiit mage, as well. Image IPB

I haven't actually used the Necromancer's Amulet. The perks are good, but the hit to magicka and health regeneration isn't particularly appealing. -75%! (I think?) It's cool, though, that the amulet itself is steeped in history. Mannimarco!

Yes, the vanilla amulet is +50 magicka and 25% less mana for conjuration spells, but -75% on health and stamina regen. Not a very good trade-off considering you can get the same benefit from other enchants. I really didn't notice the slower regen, though. My character was a heavy armor battlemage and not using power attacks. Vegetable soup pretty much takes care of power attacks anyway, and potions are cheap, so you could get by with it.

It might actually be Legendary Artifacts mod that changes this one.  Mannimarco's amulet should definitely have a bigger kick than the vanilla has.

I shall teach you aspiring mages the secret to infinite power - it's called...

...Elsweyr Fondue! Haha! It's true - it is to mages what Vegetable Soup is to warriors. Adds an extra 100 points to your Magicka and makes it regenerate 25% faster, for 12 minutes. You're just an Eidar Cheese Cheese, Moon Sugar, and an Ale away from frying people with lightning like a boss.

Kind of for balance I guess though.

EVERYONE wants the Uber gear, meaning more common stuff gets passed over.
Like in lots of D/D games, people just keep hoping for an EPIC +5 weapon more then anything.

Which is why my DM trolled one guy hard core, by making a +5 Mace....that healed your enemies as it hit them.

Elsweyr Fondue is nice, but extremely limited due to the lack of Eidar cheese wheels and moon sugar in the world. I found myself hoarding it because I had stolen every cheese wheel I could find and chased down the Khajiit caravans but still not able to make enough to use in every dungeon.

All of this talk about cheese is making me hungry, and also nostalgic for Shivering Isles. Uncle Sheo! Image IPB

The best way to get moon sugar is rob the random drug dealers you encounter on the road - they usually carry both moon sugar and Sleeping Tree Sap (if you happen to be collecting that for Ysolda), and are a pretty common encounter (for me at least).

Don't know about Eidar Cheese Wheels - I suppose you could buy them at taverns and food stalls?

The only vendors I can recall having it are Riverwood Trader (good ol Lucan) and Pawned Prawn. I suppose I could have done the wait-til-they-restock thing but that's so dull. Otherwise you rarely find it. Here and there in a bandit fort, and each inn has one on the bar and one on a table but they also don't respawn that I could tell- maybe you have to stay out of the cell. Leeks are rare sometimes but Eidar cheese is tougher to get. Even ale can be hard to find, though I eventually had a stockpile of that.

I've thought of a little alternative to going through the wait-for-24-hours procedure. If you've mapped the southeastern-most corner of Skyrim (alternatively, Riften will do) and the northwestern-most, you can fast travel between the both of them and at least a day will pass. Perhaps Solitude-Riften is safer, because the possibility of being attacked exists if you travel between dungeons.

Ale is tough to buy (innkeepers will have only 1), you've got to horde and stockpile from bandit corpses. Provided you dont sell any, that enough for fondue needs. The cheese wheels can be tricky to get, but there are three good sources: Friendly inns (the one in Iverstead and Whiterun and eventually Riverwood are good), Lucas's shop has got 3, Bandit dens/caves can have up to 6 or 7. If you do the TG, the warehouse you track Golem-EI to literally has a whole shelf full of cheese wheels!  Moonsugar can be pricey, do the Skomma dealer quest in Riften...I think you get like 10 moon sugars doing that quest.

I think my mages are fondue addicts :wizard:

Why not just marry someone and get the Homecooled meal?

Sure it lasts 120 seconds less then Fondue, but its a once a day easy to get thing.

My battlemage is in love with Ulfric.  Don't rub it in.  Image IPB

If it was the old Nord ways, she could take a War Husband and then ditch him.  Thanks a lot, Mara.  Image IPB

Don't feel bad - I'd love to put a Band of Matrimony of Serana's finger, but alas, it is not to be. Might end up marrying Lydia before it's all said and done though, since she's apparently madly in love with me.

I'm kind of surprised I haven't bumped into the fugitive that asks you to hold on to his (probably tolen) enchanted sword. Normally I'd run into him outside of Whiterun somewhere, but I'm up to level 25, and no sign of him..

I think that one might be my most frequent random encounter.  It  occurs  about 4 times per playthrough on average  for me.

And it's  not just a sword.  I've gotten:  helmits, gloves, armor, axes, daggers, boots

Heh, between staying in my room all the time and referring to me as "my love" when I rescued her during a Dawnguard mission, I think it's clear someone has a secret obsession with the Dovahkiin - and perhaps he'll take her up on that. After all, there are worse things in the world than a pretty girl having a creepy obsession with you... right?

Well she eats all your cheese, she'll die of it one day, and if you don't mind me asking what quest was this?
