Esbern agrees the Paarthurnax needs to die as well though.

Delphine won't live forever - especially if she's ever made a non-essential NPC. I don't think I'll condemn the entire order just because of one old hag with a stick up her ass - perhaps they'll come around once the two jerk asses croak. Especially if the people who take over for them are my most favored friends.

But that's the thing.  there isn't  an  "entire order".  The Blades, as an actual Organization  ceased to exist after the Septims died out.

What we got in Skyrim is some ambitious fugitive attempting to restart the order  (and actually failing).  It would really be cool if an entire quest line devoted to  effectively rebuilding the order and its influence were to happen in a future  installment of the ES.

Yes, but relunctantly, if you speak to him on it, he keeps throwing it off on our fearless leader, even when he brings it up, he says that she wants it. In fact he askes it. She on the other hand is all

HE MUST DIE.

The Blades are an organization without a purpose. I'm content to let them die out. Then again, that's how I feel about the empire in general.

@happy_daiz: I don't remember where but there was one dwarven ruin where I gave up trying to get my follower through a blade trap because there was no way to turn it off and no way to survive it without Become Ethereal. Kinda frustrating.

Doesn't Esbern flat out say that in his eyes "justice" isn't served until Paarthurnax is dead? I imagine Esbern might not have made an ultimatum out of the ordeal if left to his own devices. But he makes it clear that he agrees with Delphine's estimation of the situation.

The Blades really need a new mission statement. As it is, they seem to be falling back on unconditional, exhaustive dragonicide, which I just can't get on board with.

The best solution is for me to cast Delphine out and take the mantle of Grandmaster for myself, then rebuild the Blades as my personal guard a la the Septim dynasty. If the old man wants to stick around, I guess he's welcome to - Delphine on the other hand is not to be seen ever again, under penalty of death.

...heh, I'm an ambitious RPer. I'd love to become a Jarl, preferably Jarl of Falkreath - there is a lot of prime real estate available for development and I could check against Cyrodiil and their Thalmor frienemies far better. I might also be able to squeeze into the Jerall Mountains and rebuild Cloud Ruler temple to house more of my personal guard, and perhaps even send in some of my new Blades to spy on the Empire.

Perhaps also rebuild the Falkreath Sanctuary and move the Night Mother back there so I can more actively Listen to her, and also have easier access to the DB when I need them.

Ah, what I would do in this game if Bethesda had only allowed it - I would be the de facto ruler of Skyrim, and perhaps even take the throne one day myself.

@Addai - Yeah, Raldbthar was where I encountered that stupid double trap. In most of the Dwemer ruins, you can turn them off, but not that one. I've tried it in other playthroughs with warrior followers with upgraded armor, and they usually make it through, with a sliver of health. I need something at the very end of the ruin, for a DG DLC quest, so I do have to get through there eventually.

That's the ruin that right before the exit to the surface, has the bones stuck in the gears that you have to remove. Then you push the button, and a centurion that was blocking the door comes to life.

In regard to the Blades...I only do their crap until I get Dragonsbane, and a blessing from Esbern, and I'm on my way.

Why just cast your eyes on Skyrim though?

Since everyone seems to think there will be more for the Dragonborn then just TKOing Alduin.
I would put money on wrecking the Thalmor hardcore, and becoming Emperor myself.

Since you are Dragonborn, blessed by the gods, and the biggest ass kicker in the land.
I mean hell Skyrim is just a humilation conga line for the Thalmor.

You rip through their embassy, kill scores of their troops, wipe out a fort they have, kill a few agents, stop the Dragon threat, and close off the civil war possibly creating another hostile state.

Kind of odd that the Thalmor are the true threat though not the dragon come to eat the world.

The Blades chose to become as fanatical as the Thalmor; Delphine even alludes to the irony of this when the the journals are recovered. While I admire Esbern as a historian and scholar, he made his bed with the Blades; they can sleep peacefully now.

Personally, I have never chosen to go against Paarth and the Greybeards; cannot seem to understand the motivation needed to do so, I guess. Even my apathetic Khajitt - has no plans to do the Civil War quests; the pink skins can fight among themselves as they wish - likes the folks at High Hrothgar so much more than others.

As for Khajitt in general: yesterday's lesson learned is that one should not engage them in a fist fight. These encounters have ended so much faster with R'ziire than with any other build.

Hmm I kinda wonder if Dragons are elsewhere i nthe world. Also lulz I killed the Emperor and took over so much stuff as I'm hopinh to rebuild it as the player, or as a power behind a rebuilding. Glory to the Empire.

But the blades, should be serving the dragonborn as they claim. Not using him as a whiping boy. They need him, more than he or she needs them.

But hey this is TES.

Short of vaugeness on what we've done, or just vanishing, our characters don't matter to the overall history all that much.

Its like the Civil War, you never win it. No matter what you do each side will say fragments of the other are still around. Killing Ye Old Dragon King is the only thing you have done, and the Emperor dies reguardless I'm sure. But other than that in terms of the lore little of what we'll do will carry to the next title.

Eh. The Argonians are going to rule the world anyways. Might as well let the blades stuck in their old ways die.

I really dont feel sympathetic to them.

"Oh hey lets go commit genocide against the people who enslaved but stopped!"
Yes because while the Dunmer are a holes, they had actually stopped and the Argonians were listening to talking trees.
My dunmer is planning on going back and burning some Hist down.
Mostly because he wants to be just as petty right back at them.

Lore-wise, did the Black Marsh show preference or side with anyone yet? If they didn't then i consider them as a wild card in the Thalmor conflict.

Hahaha.

What age do most people make their PCs?
My main is about 45 years old since I RP he fought in the Great War, while my youngest is my Breton at 18.

I'm working on it, slowly but surely. I just brought him the 10 dwarven cogs last night, as a matter of fact.

Please tell me his shade doesn't sit there and say crap like, "Have you heard the tale of Mathieu Bellamont, and the great treachery of Cheydinhal?..."

Good throwback but man was he annoying.

I have been wondering that myself actually and I do have a theory. I am not a lore buff, so anyone who knows more feel free to correct me.

The Argonians are indeed a wild card. During the Oblivion crisis the Argonians were the only race to not only hold their ground against the Daedra, but actually invade the oblivion gates and forced the enemy to close them.

The Thalmor are aiming to eliminate all non mer, and the Argonians are probably not going to like that too much. The Empire, and the Dunmer both enslaved and waged war on the Argonians, and as shown by the Argonians conquering Morrowind.

This leaves the Argonians in a strong isolated position on the eastern end of the world. As such I see as the Thalmor continue to isolate and disrupt the nations of the west, the Argonians will shore up their defenses. If the empire can ever convince them to help, I think they can turn the tide. Otherwise the empire is doomed.

Honestly the Empire is scattered, and due to the skyrim rebellion high rock is isolated. Thanks to the Thalmore pitting the empires provinces against each other I just don't see how they can hold out without the Argonians help.

The Thalmor just want to kill all humans.

Because humans represent Shor/Talos and stop the world from ending, and thus allowing them back into whatever it is.
Yeah addai can explain it better.

But the Thalmor dont care about Khajiit or Argonians since they are not tied into the struggle.

Wouldn't the Thalmor's world ending agenda result in the extinction of everyone regardless of race? I doubt the Argonians, & deadric princes would like that, especially Sheo.

@Nashiktal Hammerfell is recovering after expelling of the Aldmeri from their lands, Skyrim from it's civil war, and the Imperial's from the sacking of it's capital. The human races desperately need the Argonian's help.

Heh, Lisbet had howlin' good taste, too - so did Banning, Hogni, Sanyon, and Nimphaneth. Best doggone dinner I've ever had - I'd love to go again sometime, but sadly I don't think that will, err, happen again any time soon. I wolfed dinner down like a starving hound - no leftovers I'm afraid. Guess I'll just have to let sleeping dogs lie.
