Heh, I imagine shouting "Fus... Ro Dah!" and "Wuld... Nah Kest!" would be a lot of fun, actually. But I wouldn't buy a Kinect solely for that purpose, and have zero interest in the thing otherwise.

I have been getting more CTD since the last patch, but Dragons are not the problem. For me, it usually occurs after Quick Travel of some kind, and I try and make a Save. Weird....

I haven't had any dragon crash landing problems, but I did finally witness one dragon diving into water, then coming back out, (outside of Dawnguard quests)...very cool. I just really didn't expect it.

And might I just comment on how awesome kill cams are lately? My Khajiit looks pretty cool blasting enemies with fireballs. Is it my imagination, or do they actually smile in the kill animations?

They just announced release notes on the 1.7 update.  There's a beta available on Steam.  I probably won't get the beta, because it's pretty much all Kinect crap.... who the frak cares about that... I hate that they have to spend so much time fiddling with technology that most players won't use.  What a waste of time.

Anyway, here's what's in the patch:

  • General memory and stability optimizations
  • Fixed crash related to new water shaders
  • Fixed rare crash related to dragon landings
  • Fixed logic error with loading screens from add-ons (Xbox 360)
  • Using vampiric grip and swimming no longer prevents swimming animation from playing afterwards
  • Improved recognition with Kinect voice commands (Xbox 360)
  • Kinect-enabled dragon language shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish work properly (Xbox 360)
  • Fixed issue with Dawnguard Kinect-enabled dragon shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish (Xbox 360)
  • Fixed issue with Dawnguard Kinect-enabled dragon shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish (Xbox 360)

Good.  No reason to further delay DLC for the PC/PS3.

I luv the new Kill Cam shots; often helps me locate both the corpse and my arrow. Sometthing just so rewarding about retrieving that final missle.

I've had a few problems with dragons floating through the air and not attacking (and unable to be attacked) - it's a very odd glitch, and I typically have to reload to a previous save and begin the battle all over again when it happens. Good thing I save very often.

Oh, I did have an issue last night in Moldering Ruins. The water areas of the map didn't load, and just appeared a light blue (empty) color. I barreled through, and quickly realized that if I walked on them, I slipped through the map, and ended up back at the entrance. Then I noticed that one of the draugr we killed was in an infinite loop. Very weird. It persisted even after a restart (360).

I had to hopscotch across the place to grab Enthir's staff.

Question to Modders: Are the graphic mods creating additional problems for your game? I have considered getting one of the Water enhancement mods, but has seen some post of performance hits, and for me, gameplay is more important than walking past a better looking waterfall.

From the viewpoint of a definite non-expert:

They can be problematic dependent on the specs of your rig. The larger mods I've installed are the better cities mods for Riften (doesn't remind me of such a sink hole anymore!) and Whiterun. They work fine for me, but with too many objects added, (not usually a problem in a textures add on) you can really start to lag, depending on the mod.

Having said that, better textures and graphics add ons will make your system work harder, but depending on your rig, may work just fine.

My recommendation is to add it on and test performance from a new, hard save. You can always uninstall. And if you're adding a water graphics mod, test it in several different areas of the map to make sure all is well. I can't tell you how many mods I've installed, didn't like, and turned right around and uninstalled. I haven't had any issues at all with all the uninstalls I've done. I always work from a hard save.

Hope some of that helps.

EDIT:  BTW, I haven't added on an overall graphics or environmental textures mod yet.  But it still shouldn't be a problem of installing, checking it, then unistalling if you're not satisfied.

You watch Battlestar Galatica?

I, for one, am glad Bethesda is devoting its resources to ensure the French speakers are able to propely use Kinect in their native tongue :wizard:

I have not used Mods, but understand the Workshop adds them for you after signing up for the ones you want. As a Techless gamer, this sounds terrific, but do not want to get into lag zones and the like.

Thanks for the tips!

I can just imagine the neighbors' reaction if I had to verbally shout to play Skyrim. The police would probably show up on a 5150 call. "Sorry officer, I just got Storm Call and got a little carried away."

Graphics mods can definitely slow performance.  Just back up your saves, add one at a time, and check to make sure things are working ok before adding more.  I did end up disabling Pure Waters and Lush Grass because I was getting stutter and framerate drops.  I don't know if it was those or not, because at first there seemed to be no difference.

The Steam Workshop does add them for you and checks each time at launch if there are any updates.  As with any mod- it pays to be cautious.  I always back up my saves and look at the comments section to see if people are encountering problems.

Thanks again!

Have been watching some vids for recommended mods, and noticed that there is one for a Player castle at the base of High Hrothgar; complete with draconic sentry. The structure was enormous, and was like owning your own College fortress with working Dwarven plumbing. Not for me, but some here might like to look into it.

@Elhanan:

I've seen that, and it has pretty good reviews. Supposedly an entire questline is integrated into the mod. May actually DL and see how it works.

And yes, all you have to do in the Steam Workshop is Subscribe to any mod you like, and it will automatically DL the next time you open Skyrim. There's actually a message area at the bottom of the main menu when you're open the game, telling you what mods are being added on, or even deleted. Much easier to use than Nexus, but even that's not so difficult anymore with the NMM.

There really is alot of good stuff to add-on. Like Addai said, check the comments for the real feedback on any mod you like, prior to subscribing to it.

I killed Cicero on my first playthrough because.... well, because everyone in the game tells you to.

Second playthrough I was thinking more, and decided to spare him because I'm pretty sure the Nightmother prefers that he live.

I kill him everytime because he is annoying, crazy, annoying, unreliable, annoying, unnecessary, annoying, cowardly, and annoying.

Has anyone heard anything - even a rumor - of a PC date release for Dawnguard...ideally it is just 3 days away, right?

I couldn't kill Cicero because even though he is annoying he is one of the most well developed characters in the game. I was more entertained by his madness then annoyed by it. I wish other characters had been given this much attention. The fact that many characters are dull and have poor voice actors in this game has been one of my complaints. Fallout New Vegas had the most interesting followers- because they had character. Yes Cicero is annoying as hell, but I can't help but appreciate that he actually has character. He's interesting. I couldn't bring myself to kill the only interesting character I've encountered so far.

^ I don't know, I kinda wish I could take my favorite Redguard assassin, Three Dog...err, N*zir, along with me:

I thought it was awesome that he recognized my Redguard as being Redguard, but noted that they were not the same.

Hmm, that's a good point. Maybe I just want him as a follower, because he's paying my Dovahkiin for kicking ass!

He does remind me of Fallout 3, though. And Fawkes. And Dogmeat. Even Star Paladin Cross. /nostalgia

Fightin the Good Fight... for the glory of Sithis.

Back when Fallout 3 was big, we had to go back and watch the Homicide: Life on the Street episodes that had that actor in them. Much more of a N*zir role than a Three Dog. He got some recognition for being one of the creepiest bad guys of television.

Why oh why isn't ****r a follower? I'd love nothing more than to carve a bloody swath across the land with my Redguard brother. Preferably Thalmor, bandits and dragons, though. I'm not that big on killing innocent people.

Seriously though I want what he is having for brekfast.
First time out and he charges a DRAGON.

His balls must have their own area code they are so big
