Oblivion has absolutely the worst character development mechanics out of any game I have played.
Better play Morrowind or maybe Gothic if you look for a fantasy sandbox experience.

The Dark Brotherhood was entertaining, and so was the expansion pack of the Shivering Isles. That was a lot of fun - I didn't know what to expect, and it was a nice surprise.

Waiting for Dawnguard, I decided to buy and play Oblivion. It's tough to play because, well, it looks really dated and I haven't figured out the logic of the leveling system or how melee fighting works. I'm pretty sure I was swinging that Claymore just as fast as a dagger...
I used NPC Static Level and No Obsolete Loot and Enemies. I may reinstall Oblivion since I did everything except the main quest and Shivering Isles.

This does sound like a big improvement. Still won't solve the Major skill ridiculeness and uneven character progress depending on skills used between level ups.

I remember the 5+5+5 leveling system for Oblivion. It still gives me nightmares.
Actually the optimal path to make the strongest character was 5+5+1, as you couldn't get a higher multiplyer for Luck. It took a while to get Luck up to 100, so the sooner you started increasing it, the better

The bad is my house in Whiterun the alchemic lab upgrade won't purchase. I mean it will but I never get it I lost 1000 gold on it, pft I should murder that robber.
And the Good, or the od rather is the 2nd time I ran into whiterun the Blood on the Ice Quest launched.
Also funny enough Vampires should avoid that city at all cost, so many people tagged as immortals more so at night, the dark elf patrol of drunks pretty much just beat the crap out of them.

Am guessing you mean Windhelm?
Not certain, but I have read that if one seperates the purchase of the home from the customization, this helps prevent bugs. Perhaps loading an earlier save might help?

You're telling me - two separate vampire attacks happened in Windhelm when I first loaded up Dawnguard, and both times the vampires got the s*** beat out of them by Rolf Stone-Fist, Arivanya, and Silda the Unseen. I barely had to intervene at all.

Looks like they don't even have an idea of when it will be released - you all have my sympathies.

I seriously will not be surprised if we learn that Microsoft somehow got a deal where only they got DLC.
If so I am going to be pretty peeved.
I know, I know I am being negative but its pretty hard being told that something you waited a month for is nowhere in sight

The Alchemy lab is a known bug with Dawnguard. Loading an earlier save will not help. The only way for it to not be broken is to load a game in which you've already purchased the alchemy lab, pre-Dawnguard.Elhanan wrote...

@Bear - don't take it for granted that NPCs will always be safe in Windhelm from vampires. Silda the Unseen bit it once in this playthrough, so I reloaded and fast traveled elsewhere before going there.

You're right... I can't believe I forgot about Luck. I guess it's been that long since I last played Oblivion.

Frak. It feels like Oblivion all over again.
Time to check out that certain site with videos and check out Dawnguard, since it seems like Hell is going to freeze over before I get the opportunity to actually play it.

While I am more into getting new implementations for the entire game with the DLC, being a story junkie has me craving a change from the Faction quests I now know so well. While there is a ton of content in Skyrim, there is only so many times one can aquire the Staff of Magnus, or exploit the Daedric Book of Knowledge before tedium comes knocking.
On a btighter note, I will start a new Dragonborn for the DLC named Kel Orin; taken from the dialogue of Paarthunax. Now to select a race....

Speaking of mods, my favourite mod for some time is this, Dirge shuts up. skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9357
Dirge needed to learn some respect for the boss.
