Just one more reason not to do the Thieves Guild quests - not gonna do the Companions questline this time either. I don't like being railroaded into serving Nocturnal any more than I like being railroaded into being the new Harbinger.

Might also skip the Civil War, but I haven't decided on that just yet. I'd just like to do travel through Skyrim without so many bleeding obligations for a change.

Frak. It feels like Oblivion all over again.

Time to check out that certain site with videos and check out Dawnguard, since it seems like Hell is going to freeze over before I get the opportunity to actually play it.


Most useless tweet ever.  An announcement that they haven't announced anything, don't know when they will announce anything and if they have an announcement to make, they'll make it.  He himself later tweeted that it may have been better to just shut up.  No worries though, I'm playing Nord warrior for the first time ever in a TES game.  He should be entertaining enough for a few more weeks while I wait.

I haven't talked to anyone in the Companions in this playthrough. I keep thinking maybe I should, but nah. I always end up as a werewolf, for disease resistance, but I just can't reconcile that in my head with a Khajiit.

She already sold her soul to Nocturnal, though. In fact, she's Guildmaster. Image IPB Nocturnal's blessing is kinda nice if you're a stealth character.

I've been working on getting all of the permanent bonuses I can think of - Agent of Mara, Agent of Dibella, Sailor's Repose, etc. I've had Ancient Knowledge for a while.

Bethesda won't not release the DLC for other platforms- that would be insane.  I suspect that the PS3 is holding it back for all of us.  PS3 players are already very upset that they haven't gotten the same patches that the rest of us have.  If they also don't get the DLC when everyone else does, that would cue even more outrage.

Lol I agree werewolf as a Khajiit is an odd concept.  You're already in beast form.

My plan, which remains to be seen, is to get in good with everyone (I'll side with Imperials for this character) and do everything but DB, then do DB to completion and run around murdering most everyone in Skyrim (if any pesky essential flags remain I'll disable them).

I did that in Oblivion, modded to remove world respawns so guards couldn't come back, and it was eerie, but quite fun.

You mean the Dragonborn could simply end the Thieves Guild Questline by refusing Nocturnal's offer, and that was it?

I know what the next game's main quest will be about. With the death of the Dovahkiin, war erupts all over Oblivion and Mundus too because everyone wants a piece of his/her soul. The Dragonborn did pledge his/her soul to just about everyone, right? The PC of the next game will have to deal with that war and any fallout from it.

The 'main sidequest' will be about the Thalmor, naturally.

Based on a little more reading of the IG Lore. the Thalmor do appear to be on the brink of of something major. I would expect to see much more of them again, if TES VI is at least as good as Skyrim.

Maybe that war could be a prime opportunity for the Thalmor to kill Talos (if such a thing is even possible) and thus plunge Mundus into chaos.

Can't believe anyone misses the class system. It may have worked in Morrowind, I dunno, but in Oblivion it was a complete mess.

Like others, I used a leveling mod for Oblivion. Perhaps unlike others, I deliberately picked a class which gave me the lowest possible scores on my primary skills. This allowed a maximum level of 50+, which combined with the leveling cap on NPCs, let me be quite powerful. :D

Unfortunately thats how things go these days, the slightest thing and people fly off the handle with threats and crazed outbursts. It's pretty much certain that DG is coming out and I can see why its frustrating, but alot of people seem to confuse expressing annoyance with going f*cking ballistic.

Look at what happened with Bioware, people went nuts over the slightest thing for years until when things did really go horribly wrong (DA2, ME3) the company are almost immune to the outcry and people had nowhere to go with their rage except crazy stuff like retake ME.

Vampire - works great with any race or class build
Warewolf - I would think this could be a fun way to balance a scholarly mage character, but since you must join the Companions to become one, I've only played a brutish warrior who became a werewolf

For playing a pure mage, pure rogue, pure warrior, or any kind of build think what's most important is considering your character's backstory. 

Are you playing a Dunmer thief who left the life of a refugee in Solstheim to earn a fortune and make a name for himself in Skyrim? An Argonian tribal shaman? A Bosmer warrior seeking revenge on the Thalmor? There are some small starting benefits for various races, like Altmer and Breton have slightly higher starting magic skills, etc., but it all evens out by level 5 or so. You can do well with any race and build combination, go for whichever race matches your character's history.

 "Merchant crafter: Enchanting, alchemy, smithing, speech, barter. Also ability to carry a lot of items." 

 

Imperials have a daily power Voice of the Emperor, which might be good if you are playing a character focusing on speechcraft.

I've never played any JOTA characters in Skyrim. The specialized combat styles and magic are too much fun. However, any race will be just fine for a JOTA character.

Oblivion's class system was interesting.

You pick 7 key skills. The rest of your skills are minor skills.
Every time you perform a specific action x amount of times, the related skill statistic increases by one point.

Every time you level up you select which Core stats you want to boost.


But in the end it's a bit like dating Jacob Taylor in Mass Effect.
No matter which class you choose, it doesn't really matter. The game encouraged me to be a bit of a jack of all trades. I still had a strong focus on magic though.

Oblivion has the most flexible class system I've ever seen. The only way it could have been more flexible was to ditch classes all together. Oh wait Skyrim did that.Image IPB

You know I keep looking at the shouts and feel they needed to be different.

Like the damage ones should have been top tier destruction level stuff.
Also with a shorter cool down.

Like it should have been possible to just play around with shouts basically.
I mean you can use combat, stealth, and magic why not have SHOUTS as another school
