This thread was on the second page, something had to be done. So I'll post a couple of pics of some of my 13 characters. They're not particularly good screenshots though.

You PC gamers (and Happy Daiz) sure do love a spot of dramatic posing, some epic pics in here. I'm around 170 hours in and I last saw my characters face around 170 hours ago.

Exactly the same with me, and I specifically made my Redguard butt-ugly, too.

You may be doing yourself a dis-service by not using 3rd person for some combat. While Archery is certainly well done for 1st person, I find it often more difficult to measure proper distance to the target for melee. In addition,  3rd person appears to look so much better; less rigid and repetitious for the camera view..

I find the 3rd person interface much more awkward than the other RPGs I've played. It seems as though 1st person was the design priority. I can not aim a spell at all from 3rd person.

Bethesda has always designed for 1st person. Their 3rd person has much improved in Skyrim, but still not quite there. I usually do play in 3rd person because camera shake makes me nauseous and gives me migraines, but I still zoom in to aim magic or arrows, or when stealthing.

Yeah, I pretty much always play in 1st person. Whenever I try 3rd person for combat I lose all sense of distance and just flail around helplessly and die.

Primarily a first person player too. Though I occasionally do go to 3rd person when I'm feeling extra adventurous.

Well, I played for ca.100 hrs before trying 1st person view, so I am comfortable in 3rd. Now I aim and grab things from the shelves in 1st, but melee combat is so much better for me in 3rd, and climbing is easier.

Question for the fashion folks: What Light armors besides Leather, Imperial, or Stormcloak look best for the female designs? I added a mod for Dragonscale robes, but it requires Smithing perks, and I am not that invested with my Alteration mage. But none of the armors look good; Gilded Elven is OK at best, IMO.

I think 3rd person works reasonably well, but my aim is much better in 1st person, even when it comes to melee.

About fashion: I personally think fur armor looks pretty cool. One of the armors (maybe it's hide, but I think it's fur) actually looks like it would be warm to wear and I love using that one. It's not very good though. Some of the faction armors look pretty cool too; the Dark Brotherhood has some very assasin-y armor, and the thieves guild also has some. These armors I like. Perhaps you should look those up. I certainly wouldn't recommended glass and elven as I  they look awful.

My favorite is dragonscale (without the helmet). Good thing that it's also the best. Too bad for your mage that you can't get it though.

From what I've seen in pics, Glass armor looks good on dudes. Not sure what went wrong with the female design, but it's awful.

My Nord stuck with Scaled until she could make Dragonscale. Although having scaled bracers equipped in 1st person view gave her man hands. :/

My assassin only dipped into Smithing to get the Arcane perk and made a beeline for the Nightingale armor.

Dawnguard adds a few new options, thankfully.

Out of curiosity, what does Dawnguard add that is interesting to light armor characters or smithing? I have a light armor melee character that needs to choose a smithing path. I know I will be using dragonbone weapons, but is there anything new in the light path?

I see that crossbow stuff is Dwarven smithing, which I can't do if I take the light path.

Just checked and the Dawnguard armor uses the Advanced Smithing perk. It comes in heavy and light. On the Vampire side the armor only comes in light, and it also takes advantage of Advanced Smithing. There is also a set that uses Elven.

While the steel crossbow is obviously not quite as good as the Dwarven, it's still plenty powerful.

The reason I ask is just to see if I missed something as I have been reading about it. And I have missed the part about the Dawnguard armor using light smithing perks, so thanks for that. Going with heavy smithing for a light armor character pretty much limits you to dragonscale, with no chance to significantly improve cool new light armor you might find.

I never get kill moves with my dual wielding Redguard. I always push both mouse buttons at the same time to do a dual wield attack, but this never gives a kill cam or a beheading. Only when I push one button I get a kill move. Pretty annoying. Makes the beheading perk useless too.

Standing power attacks still do 25% more damage, which is what that perk is all about anyway. Pretty ridiculous that DW gets +75% to power attacks and 2h just gets the one +25% increase. Sure you can do a swipe attack, but I doubt that's particularly useful.

I also only seem to get executions when swinging one weapon, so it's not just you.

I'm not sure if the beheading perk even works for dual-wielding. That style has a separate power attack enhancement.

Ooh, that sucks then. I did behead someone when I just pressed one button, so it´s possible. But normally I just do attacks with both hands though, and then nothing happens. Ah well. I do like dual wielding. It´s pretty awesome. Just a pity you don´t get kill cams. There seem to be special dual wield finishing moves, but they only trigger when you do a one-handed attack.:?

I didn't really believe that statement so I tried looking it up. I haven't tested it myself, but I found at least three different sources saying that they do indeed stack, and people have apparently verified it ingame.

So that means the beheading perk is a huge boost to dual wielding, just as I have always thought. It just isn't the beheading part that's interesting. Now go forth and power attack something!

Yeah I noticed. Slightly excited here. For a moment there I almost forget to be bitter :)

Edit: Downloading! Bit on the expensive side, by the way. 20 euros.
