Ah yes, the giant charnel house - I trust you've seen the gruesome facilities Lord Harkon and his brood have to offer? I especially like the wine casks full of blood and the legless corpse strung up and bled dry in the kitchen. Oh, and the piles upon piles of bones that must belong to thousands of individuals that the fiends have slaughtered over the centuries. Oh, and Harkon's human heart collection, and his private torture rack for use when he feels like inflicting excruciating pain on cattle for his own twisted amusement...

...just like vampires should be. Send these sparkly pantywaists home - real vampires aren't pretty and are the epitome of evil.

I have the distinct feeling spoilers are being discussed, so I won't tarry--just want to ask, if Dawnguard is out for PC yet. I haven't seen it through Steam.

In addition, I read up on it a bit, and found out that there are random vampire attacks--not just when you're travelling, but when you enter a city occasionally This smells incredibly wrong, because they're going to kill NPCs--NPCs we can't get back. The cities will become ghost towns, will they not?

When is the first time we see evidence that Dawnguard is actually installed and implemented in the game? I see it checked on my game files with the other mods that I have, but I have not seen one of the new plants, have not heard any rumors about vampires, I don't see either the vampire or werewolf skill trees - I have seen nothing different to the game at all and I've about to do Bleak Falls Barrow.

Typo. The Castle. You know, THIS one:

I love crossbows. This Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow hits slightly harder than a Dragonbone Bow. It also sounds pretty damn cool!

I think you might be running short of steel bolts :wizard:

After reading some of the problems other users are having with Dawnguard, I'm waiting till some fixes are release before buying it. Twenty dollars is steep for how much content Dawnguard has imo. :/

Yep, if you're not careful the vampires can easily wipe out NPCs (a lot of it depends on your difficulty level too).

Hit lvl 10 then there should be an attack.  A DG orc will approach you.

Talk to any guard or travel to Riften and an orc will approach you near the inside of the gate.

Aaaand... first night playing and Arivanya in Windhelm bit it from a vampire attack.  Chica's got terrible luck since she can be a Butcher victim, too.

I started a new game, but quickly ended when folks were running around the tunnels with purple shields. But this was not DG, nor the mods I have been adding; seems to be the additional HD DLC I also obtained. It did not seem to matter if it were loaded first or last, so I deactivated it until a fix is added later.

For now, I simply want to make vampire shiskabobs with my Nordic Archer.

OK, so my current Nord is a level 52 and has only progressed the main story to the point of Blackreach; am I going to miss anything in DG because the main story (and civil war for that matter) hasn't progressed all that far yet? In short, is there anything in DG that is main questline or civil war dependent? This is the guy I want to play DG with, and I'll be far too distracted knowing it's just sitting there, while I'm laboring away, just rushing through Blackreach, etc to get it all over with.

By saying you're about to do Bleak Falls Barrow, does that mean you've just started a new character? If so I'm not actually sure how DG gets implemented. But with higher level characters DG should start if you visit any city at night.

You can do it fine from the point you're at and the only difference I noticed was very brief(two sentences at most) mention of you killing Alduin at one point. There is one other but it's a spoiler...

*Spoilers*

You're going to need that Elder Scroll anyway so you may aswell just do Blackreach before starting DG.

Wooho DLed Dawnguard, cannot wait to awake my Khajit thief, hes going to be a vampire tonight.
And my Dark Elven Spellblade(who is secretly a werewolf ssshhh) is going for Dawn Guard.

@Druss99
Is Elder Scroll  needed for a main quest in DG? I always sell mine to wizard collage.

I just wish I had that many exploding bolts :)

Every time I finish a quest I buy bolts and arrows in a desperate attempt to give them enough money so I can sell my loot. I do the same thing with ammo and stims in New Vegas. It doesn't hurt to be prepared.

Anyway my only complaint so far has to be the random vampire attacks that can occur in cities. A master vampire attacked Riften and managed to kill a few named NPCs. He walked around on the roof where I couldn't hit him and zapped NPCs from there That's not fun at all, and I just have to load a previous save when that happens. Same thing with dragon attacks. I don't think Bethesda has realized how annoying it is when they mess up the gameworld like that. Or maybe they don't care.

If you're waiting for them to fix it, just don't hold your breath. Random dragon attacks STILL do the same thing at least to small towns outside, and it's been ages since the game was released. I'd rather just enjoy Dawnguard and save often as I already do anyway. And yes, 20 euros is a bit outrageous, but it does actually add enough new things that it's worth it to me.

Yeah, you can buy it back for 4000g and I think it's cheaper if you're Guild Master.

My assassin is very early in the main quest and has not finished the civil war either. Hopefully none of it will be a problem. But it doesn't look like it. Difficulty-wise I wouldn't exactly say I am overwhelmed, but then again I am pretty well-geared.

City guards will also tell you that the Dawnguard has been reformed (just like they tell you about other places on the map sometimes) and that you should head to the fort near Riften. This is a bit confusing since it is actually pretty far south east of Riften, and you actually have to enter what looks like a cave instead and you can't travel the normal way to the fort shown on the map.

It's beyond bizzare, actually. You can see Fort Dawnguard on the map (although in my game you can just see the icon and the word "Fort", the rest is clipped off the screen). But the actual quest arrow appears on the Stendarr outpost down there... which is pretty damn far away from the fort, unless you've got the Become Etheareal shout and are willing to jump off a cliff or two to get to fort Dawnguard from the Stendarr outpost.

No wait, Check that. The quest arrow points you to The stendarr outpost, then from there, you have to jump down a giant mountain cliff and walk until you get to an UNMARKED  cave/grotto called..... "Cliff-something", THEN make your way to fort Dawnguard from there.  LOL

But whatever.  it's a pretty nice scenic route, at least.

I think DG screws up quest arrows actually. Everytime I leave Fort Dawnguard without fast travelling it always points my compass marker to Riften, no matter where the quest arrow is on the map. Initially finding the fort was easy enough as I just followed roads, finding Castle Volkihar was a whole other matter though.

Lulz. Why do people keep saying $20 is steep? You do know past TES expansions were more expensive, right?

I'll assume the people complaining have only ever bought the GOTY editions or are simply newbies to the series.

I suppose people were expecting Dawnguard to be on par with Shivering Isles for $20 and not Knights of the Nine (DG falls in between the two content wise).

I have read that that the werewolf perk tree will only show up when you´re in werewolf form. It´s probably the same with the vampire tree: only appears when you're actually a vampire (lord(?)).

€20 is more than $20. Still, I have the expectation Dawnguard will be worth the money.:) Now I can finally continue with my Nord Jala Wolf-Runner.

$20 is fine for what I received. $10 is too cheap and for $30 (Shivering Isles) I would want a new landmass to explore.

**** SPOILER *****

I'm at the point where I need to get the other 2 elder scrolls for Harkon. I noticed some of the other vampires are giving me quests. Are these leading anywhere or are they radiant?
