When is the first time we see evidence that Dawnguard is actually installed and implemented in the game? I see it checked on my game files with the other mods that I have, but I have not seen one of the new plants, have not heard any rumors about vampires, I don't see either the vampire or werewolf skill trees - I have seen nothing different to the game at all and I've about to do Bleak Falls Barrow.

I have read that that the werewolf perk tree will only show up when you´re in werewolf form. It´s probably the same with the vampire tree: only appears when you're actually a vampire (lord(?)).

OK, I was thinking that might be the case.

Today is a good day.

I just found a new Dwemer Ruin. Will be exploring  it after work.

Edit: Oh, and I got my first Vampire city encounter this morning.   Not sure what everyone's complaining about.  Poor MASTER vampire didn't make it 3 feet into the City of Whiterun before being  viciously destroyed by  a) 3 Alik'r warriors;  B) the Captain of the city guard; and   c) a rain of arrows from various city guards all over the place.

I made it to the scene just in time to loot his body.  Didn't even get to take part in the action.

I started a new game, but quickly ended when folks were running around the tunnels with purple shields. But this was not DG, nor the mods I have been adding; seems to be the additional HD DLC I also obtained. It did not seem to matter if it were loaded first or last, so I deactivated it until a fix is added later.

For now, I simply want to make vampire shiskabobs with my Nordic Archer.

I think purple textures are lack of memory in the video card.  There is a mod fix for purple wood, not sure if it would apply to shields.

edit- You have to get more Elder Scrolls for Harkon?  So those things are just lying around now?  Image IPB

That's not a big deal no. But I got a very sneaky one in Riften that was running around on the roof of a house where I couldn't reach him and the NPCs got stuck in a little alley where I couldn't get past them.

Anyway, the point is that if you are not quick, they CAN kill NPCs.

I think it's unlikely to be a big issue, but I still wish the game would not kill off NPCs like that. The only NPC I really want gone is the little girl that runs around saying that she'll fight everyone. The vampires can have her.

Anyway I did not mean to complain about the price. 20 euros is a lot for DLC, but it's just an observation. My games budget is not particularly frightening these days anyway (rent in the city though, ouch!) so when something comes along that I really want, I don't think about the price much.

Dawnguard is pretty fun.

My imperial grew his hair out, made some new friends, got a crossbow, and is being attacked by Vampires.

OK, so my current Nord is a level 52 and has only progressed the main story to the point of Blackreach; am I going to miss anything in DG because the main story (and civil war for that matter) hasn't progressed all that far yet? In short, is there anything in DG that is main questline or civil war dependent? This is the guy I want to play DG with, and I'll be far too distracted knowing it's just sitting there, while I'm laboring away, just rushing through Blackreach, etc to get it all over with.

You can do it fine from the point you're at and the only difference I noticed was very brief(two sentences at most) mention of you killing Alduin at one point. There is one other but it's a spoiler...

*Spoilers*

You're going to need that Elder Scroll anyway so you may aswell just do Blackreach before starting DG.

Yeah, I remember that from an earlier discussion come to think of it.  Makes sense to complete Blackreach then.  Thanks.

I agree that $20 is a lot for DLC, but for over a month now it has been made very clear that DG was more of a small expansion; not a simple mod. In this case, I believe that the content merits the current price.

That said, I wish the industry as a whole would attempt to keep prices reduced as we are all hurting in a poor global market.

My Breton girl's face is now rather drastically affected by vampirism. She has glowing eyes, wrinkles round the nose and red lips with a slit running from the nose to the lip. Her skin seems somewhat paler. It's really silly that people look at a DG vampire's face and talk to them like a normal person, which they clearly aren't.For lolz I'm going to play through the Dawnguard arc as an unarmed dude and punch all the vampires to death.

Yep, Harkon was right, before, I was just someone who contracted the disease.  Now this is the only thing that can stop me:

It is a steep price for a DLC, especially considering lazy Bethesda still hasn't fixed some major problems in the game...like hotkeys being borked. Of course the last patch made script dragon non-working so dual wielding is no longer an option.

I haven't done much with vampires but werewolves still feel kinda weaksauce(or more like glass cannons). They should regenerate from normal damage...instead they just feel like they have a paper defense.

I really can't see ever siding with Harkon, considering the sight you're treated to in his banquet hall. Don't play psychos.

DAWNGUARD SPOILERS AHEAD!

So yah its been really fun so far.
Serena is a very well done, voiced, written and animated character.

Seriously she proves that Bethesda can do companions like we had in New Vegas.
Lost to the Ages was a very fun quest with a REALLY awesome reward

Big D, is a cool undead Dragon, and it was EPIC hearing him say he knew you pwned Alduin, and was impressed.

While 20 bucks is a lot, its still very fun, fits in very well, and honestly yes I am proud to have played it.

Lulz. That is a bad ass screencap - I didn't know you could even do a curb stomp animation. Is it a mod or something?

I was curious about that, too. Are we supposed to assume this is how Falion (and people like him) view vampires, rather than how the common man see them day to day?

OK, someone help me out here, in case I'm just blind. I'm in Arkngthamz, and I just solved the tonal puzzle and cleared the ruin. Is there a quick exit, or do I actually have to trudge my way back through the ENTIRE dungeon to leave?

There should be a tunnel leading out to the ravine where you first met Katria - jump off the cliff and into the water.

Also upon getting how it seems like Dawnguard took up a month or so in game.

So my Dragonborn is going on vacation.
On a very long vacation without flying charrus, or Falmer, or Vampires, or more Dragons, or crazy elves.

Just a nice quiet year or so back in Whiterun.
Ooh who am I kidding, five minutes after he gets home something will go to hell.

Hm... I find I have no motivation to play it after starting Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Harkon being so stupidly evil and demanding I become a vampire to even learn of his motives kind of sucks.
