I had several quest NPC's die in vampire attacks. That's the reason I never start the main quest with dragons until after i've done the other quests that I want to do. That problem could be rectified somewhat by having the NPC's that are non-warrior types run away instead of stupidly attacking the vampires.

I image there's a way to do this. If one knew the scripting, they could change the AI behaviours based on type (and possibly on what they're carrying at the moment--if they have a strong weapon they would fight).

Well, looking around the web I guess the random attacks are a big bug with Dawnguard. Seems the random attacks are not supposed to occur until you start the Dawnguard quest (much like starting the main quest brings random dragons)...but instead the attacks are occurring just by having Dawnguard installed.

Minor spoilers here!

Soul Cairn is scuh a magnificent place. Found nice summoning spells, a spectral mount and another dragon(kinda draco lich) summon.
Its easy to become a leet necromancer with all that summons. Gargoyles, undead magi and zombies.
Going to make a full mage after this playthrough :) If i have some spare time tbh...

Edit: Its getting even better, my little Dracolich is training me. More undead hmmmmmm.

I don't think you can get it that way, which is another thing that doesn't make any sense. How do they explain non-companion werewolves? It's one of those powers that I rarely use anyways since you can't really do much in wolf form. The balance on werewolves seems to be off now since I installed Dawnguard.  I wasn't getting one shotted by nameless bandit archers before Dawnguard anyways, now it feels like I have no defense.

The Daedric device  and Hircine seem to explain werewolves outside the Companions. I do not use lycanthropy much, but was considering it this time to avoid getting vampirism; chose tp gp with more frequent shrine visits instead.

Stealth and tactical postioning always seem to be always a viable defense vs archers. I utilize a re-balancing mod, and while Bandits are considerably harder, they are not able to hit what they cannot see.

I am getting a few bugs now; per, slowdown in archery battles occasionally, and one vanishing dragon. These bugs end at the battle conclusions. And I do not have the alchemy lab in Breezeholm this time.

This is just a minor thing, guards and spellcaster east vampires the second they step in cities. Some of them even cant draw thier weapons lol.
They are just as problem as random dragons .

Seems like people are enjoying Dawnguard, for the most part.

I wonder if Logrolf the Willful is the same person as Logrolf the Bent, who helped Azzada leave Markarth and find a home in Dragon Bridge.

Heh, I like werewolf form. I have been running around for hours as a werewolf, slaughtering a whole fort of bandits, sending frost trolls flying with a mighty maul, and even killed a dragon.

I came across the base of the Vigilantes of Stendarr, and was planning to kill them, but someone (something?) had been there before me. The whole house was burned down, with bodies of the Vigilantes everywhere. Vampires?

Yeah the Vampires did that.

Sadly for them I got a mod that keeps guards leveled, and gives them better gear.
So here I was fighting this guy and what happens?

Like four Stormcloak guards come charging in and literally hack him to pieces.
Say what you want about them but they are very gutsy to tell a vampire "ILL TEAR YOUR HEART OUT!"

I have around 55 right now.

I just try and find tiny little general fixes to things, rather then HUGE changes.
Like a mod that makes Wuuthrad a steel weapon so it can be tempered.

Since I find the idea of a tiny Breton girl, being the heir of Ysgramor to funny to pass up.

Armored Horses
Your home is my home - for followers that like to disappear after I dismiss them
Ultimate Follower Overhaul - Let's me better equip, train and set followers to essential
No more blocky faces

I had alot of weapon and armor mods but the DLC either made them obsolete or extremely buggy.

I don't understand the appeal behind essential followers. Like there isn't enough of them? Wondering around undead infested caverns, dragon lairs, and bandit caves ought to be a bit dangerous, no?

It's okay Joy, most mortals cannot comprehend why some prefer godlike performance.

I use SKSE (script extender), Sky UI, fx injection, Lush Trees, unofficial patch, hi-res textures dlc, UFO follower overhaul, unlimited bookshelves, static mesh improvement mod, better dynamic snow, and a few minor mods for very specific things.

Tis true Endurium, But if we make everyone godlike (I see people reload when random NPC dude dies), does that not relegate the divine to the mundane?

I like having essential followers since they have terrible AI and often get FFed.

Also what level do Legendary Dragons show up? I keep hearing its between 70 to 78.

I'll probably never get to that high a level. The scaling system is really awful when it comes to dragons. At level 45-50, elder and ancient dragons became more common than deer...so I just retired that character due to boredom.

I have 31 mods on as of now, as I have recently reduced them down after picking up Skyrim again after a brief hiatus.  Most of these are just subtle fixes for things I wanted fixed, a few are larger than life like "Battlefield." These are my favs:

Unlimited Bookshelves
Breezehome Ladder Fix Plus
Another Breezehome Basement
Breezehome Extra Storage
Mike Hanchos Breezehome Tweaks
Battlefields of Skyrim
More NPCs in the Wild
Bella's Better Females
Grilli’s Home Riverwood v1.3b
Followers Don’t Die
Mercenaries
Nordic Steel Plate Shield
Skyforge Steel Plate Armor
Back Shields – (no functionality whatsoever…but they’re just…cool, if you explore alot in third person).
Weapon Variant Expansion
Dovahkiin Relaxes Too
Bandolier – Bags and Pouches
Kill Moves - No Blur
Beautiful Riften
Riverwood Enhanced
Pines of Whiterun
Fortify Skill Spells

Personally, I too would like to hear what mods others are using as well.  Still in the market for good mods.

Okay... list of mods:

ApachiiHair
Black Tower Armory
Jasus Swords
Claralux - more and brighter lights - adds lanterns and torches along roads and paths. Useful with Realistic Lighting, which makes the nights very dark. Unfortunately the light is sometimes a bit buggy.
Arrowsmith - allows to smith arrows
Ask Follower Skills
Barenziah Quest Markers
Better Dynamic Snow
Black Sacrament DB replacer
Chopping Block Wood Fires - fixes purple chopping block and fire texture bug
Conjuration & Summoning fixes
db - Enhanced Blood
Enhanced Distant Terrain
Fixed Followers - no essential followers, but fixes some bugs with followers.
Follower Trap Safety - followers no longer barge over pressure plates you just did your best to avoid.
Hd plants + Herbs
Leather Weight Fix (0.5) - no longer ridiculous leather weight of 2.0.
LF Armors
Magic Scaling
Lush Grass
Matching Set Fixes
Open Face Guard Helmets
Realistic Water Textures
Sanguine Rose Fix
Shrine of Azura LOD Fix - you can now see the statue of Azura from a distance, like you're supposed to.
Smakit House Markers - adds map marker of all the available houses so that you can fast travel to your doorstep.
Sounds of Skyrim - The Dungeons
Sounds of Skyrim - The Wilds
Sounds of Skyrim - Civilization
Static Mesh Improvement Mod
Water - Get Wet
Water - dunno what exactly this does. I believe it adds better ripples when you walk through water
dB - No Spinning Death Animation
Bandolier
Clams Drop Pearls
Move It LWT - is supposed to make followers get out of the way sooner when they are blocking passages, but I haven't seen much effect, so I think I'll delete it.
Stop Bumping Into Me - part of the above mod, also doesn't seem to do much.
Bound Weapons Scale With Conjuration - lets my bound sword's damage scale with my conjuration skill, so that I can still kill things with it on a higher level.
Night Eye Overhaul - great mod, especially when playing a Khajiit.
Chesko Wearable Lantern
Cowardly horses - horses no longer take part in combat, but now I'm always searching for my horse after I killed two wolves.
Deadly Spell Impacts - effects of spells where they hit the ground, walls or furniture.
Improved Food - food recovers more health and stamina to make it a viable alternative to alchemy. Perhaps a bit overpowered though.
Black Sacrament Armor
Auto Unequip Arrows - no arrows on your back when a bow is no longer equipped.
BLESSINGS - Altar Descriptions
Cloaks
Cowardly Frost
Cowardly Shadowmere
GM - Forge Additions - allows you to craft more things, for example circlets.
Improved Combat Sounds
KRZ - Better Archmage Quarters
More Dynamic Shadows
Nightingale Hall - Improves Nightingale Hall
Descaled Uniques - Daedric weapons should always be highest level. Not sure if it really works though.
Triss Armor Retextured
Redguard Armor
Redguard Knigt
Slightly Reduced NPC Greetings
Warchief Armor
Realistic Lighting
Automatic Variants - finally the possibility to have ten types of chickens in the world. And wolves, and spiders, etc.
Lightweight Potions and Poissons
Nightingale Maskl

Aww, I freed a Stormcloak prisoner from three Imperials. The free man ran away. And launched into the air and fell back down. Dead. Hmpf.

I'm not playing one character to 70 either.  If I don't see a legendary by 55 then I'll never see one.

Been playing more of Dawnguard now, currently at the quest (on the Dawnguard side) where you have to find two old friends of the Dawnguard leader and recruit them. It's been fun so far.

On the way to Fort Dawnguard I decided to stop off and get a picture of my Reguard thief Nessa, since I don't really have any good pictures of her.
Image IPB

Had a couple more encounters with vampires outside of the quests. When I was escorting Seranna home along the top road we spotted three vigilants on the road being attacked, or so I thought. Initially I panicked, thinking I'd have to off them because they'd attack the vampire girl, but they turned out to be vampires who had killed the vigilants and taken their stuff. After killing them I wondered why they would fight us since I thought these vampires running around were loyal to Harkon and his family, but maybe they're not.

There was also a funny moment when one master vampire walked through Windhelm gate and proceeded to get curb-stomped by Tova Shatter-Shield. Don't mess with a mourning mother, is another moral vampires should learn.

Getting my first glimpse of Fort Dawnguard yielded this reaction "I want one of my own!"
Image IPB

So far I've found the helmet, gauntlets and boots for the Dawnguard armour lying around the Fort, but not the cuirass so far. Better keep looking though, that armour looks cool and I want to put it on one of the mannaquins at Honeyside.

Anyone know a fix for the Sereena glitch? I asked her to wait at a spot off screen so I could take a screenshot, but now she will not follow me.
