So I got back from vacation, excited to play some Skyrim (would you believe that my husband and I talked about it on numerous occasions while we were gone? Weird).

I decided to proceed with DG, and made my Khajiit into a vampire lord. I must say, I'm a little disappointed. I was expecting the big saber teeth I'd seen in this thread for Khajiit vampires. Instead, she got tiny little fangs that would make an Orc laugh, and yellow (non-glowing) eyes with slits. Granted, she still looks pretty good, but where are 'ma big teeth?

 Saadia: <unsheathes  iron dagger> So, are you working with them? You think you can take me? You so much as touch me, and you're going to lose fingers.
Dovahkiin: =]

Saadia: I mean it! I'll...I'll cut you in half!

Dovahkiin: <menacingly> 10  minutes past i slew a giant, fashioned a pair of boots from a still living ancient dragon, braided Farkas' chest hair on a dare, and fought a mud crab to a standstill. So do it.
Saadia::blush:
Dovahkiin: Do it.
Saadia::unsure:
Dovahkiin: Good. <seductively> Now undress yourself and take the bed on your left.
Saadia::wub:

Yeah, I usually just turn her in right away. It's like Kematu says, don't be fooled by a pretty face.

I still handed her over to Kematu, it was all a ploy to let down her guard.:whistle:

So Dawnguard is out on PC now, I see. What do you guys think of it?

@Happy:

Basically this:

Worth the price admission easily... especially since I hooked it up to the projector in the basement and played the final fight on it.
Lets just say that sound surround, an HD projection of 8 feet, and a really sweet finish was pretty epic.

My dad gets all the nice toys some times.

The Alik'r are not all that bright really.

Just running around trying to arrest random women.
Or wearing no armor.
Or openly antagonizing the guards.
Special forces my petooty.

They are, though.  They are probably the reason the Dominion tucked tail and left Hammerfell.

Saadia's been on the run for 20+ years, so Kematu's group finally tracking her down in a place hostile to them is something of an accomplishment even though it's probably due to her letting her guard down.

Some cultures prefer not to wear armor based on their fighting style.  I imagine climate would have something to do with it, too.

I disagree. She's a pretty face who brings me food and drink.

That puts her miles ahead of the group that hides in the back of a cave filled with cutthroats and murders. And their member in prison pretty much confirms the assassin part of her story. Also, the service is terrible in that cave.

If she was really the horrible villain they claimed I somehow think she'd be doing a little better than playing tavern wench with a tiny paring knife to defend herself with.

When in doubt I always err on the side of distressed damsels and killing things that dropped curved swords for me. Curved swords!

Well like I said in my status update from last night, I finally tore myself away from playing SWTOR with my favorite companion Kira Carsen to play it. Only to find out Serana has exactly the same voice actress and personality as Kira.

Add in crossbows and swasbuckling boots for both Dawnguard and Vampires...well lets just say I'm enjoying it so far.

They MAY be good fighters.

But they have all the subtly of a bull elephant in heat.
They get kicked out of Whiterun, or captured.

Its really 50/50 though for the story.
But honestly Saadia really does make no sense truthfully.

Why RUN to where the Thalmor have free reign? If she was hiding in Windhelm that would make more sense.

*MAJOR DAWNGUARD SPOILERS"

My favorite fight in DG was actually with Arch-Curate Vyrthur - in fact, Touching the Sky in general is my favorite quest in the game. The moment Gelebor told me what he and his brother were, I knew s*** was about to get real. The Forgotten Vale is also just breathtakingly vast and beautiful, even more than Blackreach IMHO.

I look forward to playing through this quest again, this time as a vampire. It should be quite interesting.

DAWNGUARD SPOILERS!

I loved that fight to.
Espeically when you get knocked on your ass.

My Imperial (who is almost 50) just sat there thinking "I am getting to old for this ****"
Serana was pretty awesome right there.

Quick question: what is the quickest way to train Restoration short of paying a trainer? Because it's gonna take a looong time getting the Necromage perk at this rate (needs 70 Restoration, for crying out loud).

I take it you're fighting on the Dawnguard side this playthrough, then? It can be stressful, worrying about NPCs and vampire attacks, but there are ways to adjust your playstyle to minimize casualties. Fast traveling can become the bane of your existence, if you're not careful with timing.

Even in my vampire lord playthroughs, I usually stop in Fort DG to pick up a couple of crossbows and bolts. Be sure to visit Dead Drop Falls, that's accessed within the fort (near the dogs), to get a few more special bolts and Confessions of a Khajiit Fur Trader. Image IPB

Theres a section on leveling techniques on the wiki. Some good ideas on it. One should probably work for you.

Use the new DG spells I would say.

Anti-Undead and Vampire killing spells FTW!

Yeah I was planning to go Dawnguard. But looks like I have to leave Serana at her Dad's house if I do. Shame, I do find her enjoyable personality-wise to have around. But I like being a vampire less.

I did stick my nose in Dead Drop but didn't see the book you mentioned. Guess I need to search harder! Image IPB

^ You know the waterfall, that looks like it would kill you if you jump down it? Well, jump down it! There is a mine area, where you can mine some Corundum ore, and pick up more bolts and crossbows. The puzzle to get into the area is pretty fun, too. The book is laying on a table in that area, so you can't miss it.

Just keep playing, you may not be done with Serana just yet. Image IPB

Heh yeah I fell down that waterfall accidently while trying to look down it. Image IPB

But didn't find the table you mentioned. I got to some area that involved shooting bolts at targets to lower bridges. But eventually got to a gate I couldn't figure out how to open.

Question:

So I'm intending to buy Dawnguard, and was wondering whether if you are a werewolf or a vampire has any meaning, or is it ever addressed in the DLC? Otherwise, I'll just go in as a normal human.

^ Yes, it's definitely addressed in the DLC. In fact, there are two new perk trees (werewolf and vampire lord), and NPCs do comment on your...paleness...as a vampire.

Plus, I'd recommend trying both Dawnguard and VL sides, to experience both sides of the coin. I was really reluctant to try playing as a vampire lord, but let me just say...it's pretty awesome.

^ There you go! You show them!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! I'm on my third run with it. I did just stop briefly for some FONV, because I was suddenly jonesing for it, but I will be back. My Khajiit Dovahkiin Vampire Lord all but demands it.

I recognized her voice actress instantly. Laura Bailey, who also voices that other vampire chick in Bloodrayne:

Climate would make sense as they come from a desert region. You would bake quickly in the European type armors that are in this game.

Exploration has it's drawbacks occasionally, it seems.

Had returned to Fort Dawnguard after my first mission, and went hunting bears and gold in the hidden caves nearby. When I got to the Fort, there is a rather large group outside speaking of the harrowing attack they just suffered. What attack? No bodies; no blast zones? Seems I have something to look forward to in my next actual playthrough; one not centered on the DLC itself.

@ Cutlass Jack - Sometimes a door opens in the same method used to close it, and reverse. Sometimes a room has alternate routes. And sometimes, there is the Wiki for when you simply do not want to spend any more minutes searching for hidden levers....
