Now I'm running an I7 2.66 with 6gigs of tri channel ram and an ATI Radeon 5670 graphics card. I've got the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles installed as well. I installed this new straight out of the box with no patches or mods. I let the game detect my settings and it will only let me run in windowed mode which is about a 12 x12 window. And I've got the computer set up using a 47" LG HD t.v.
All other games for which I've got run fine in full screen but for some reason when I try to run ES in fully screen it starts to load and then I get an error reading that Oblivion has stoped working but no reason as to why. Any help would be appreciated.

What are the "Resolution" options available when you start the launcher and click "Options"
also, are you starting the game while your system is already running on your TV?

Well now I seem to have figured this one out on my own. Seems I didn't scroll down far enough to find the Resolutions for which I needed.
Now since this is my first play through of the game Any suggestions on what I should run to get an over all feel for the game itself?

also, since the world is so huge, a single playthrough can last a really long time, so you might decide to install some mods at some point during your first playthrough.
there are around 30,000 or 40,000 mods for Oblviion, and some of them are really amazing, greatly improve the game

Reading the last couple of pages, I feel like I'm under pressure to finalise my backstory and concept for my first Skyrim character.
Damn peer pressure!

All I can say is don't feel any pressure to do the main quest - explore, get involved in some side quests, factions, etc. and try walking around instead of using fast travel.

Well since I'm one that likes to explore areas in games like this so the walking around won't be a problem at all.<LOL>
The thing for which I'm most concerned about is my character the first time through the game. Usually I just play a warrior or thief and either dual wield or sword and shield. But from what I've seen on the video's on you tube you can use any weapons as well as for magic and thieveing abilities.
What would be a good first time PC to run which will give me the best bang in the game? Where I will be able to survive most of the battles and also unlock most of the chests doors etc.
BTW I was just checking out the Website and looking over the DLC's for which are available on the site. Are they worth the money or are there some that aren't?

I love the Middle-Eastern/Asian feel and overall badassery added back to the Dunmer. And I completely agree about the oblivion voice. It really was only fitting for the wood elves and it kept me away from playing and Elf character.
Yeah, I really missed the gruff, gravely Dunmer voice and deep, proud Altmer voices that we heard in Morrowind.

Why? You can't even hear your character's voice in the game.LegendaryAvenger wrote...

You hear their grunts which basically depends on the race.RymenQwun wrote...

Reason they sounded different in oblivion was because of them being in the heart of the empire, so they had to adjust themslves to the Cyrodiilian way of life. As it should be.

You don't justify that kind of wussification. Bethesda was likely pressured to cut corners somewhere. They had intended to keep the gruff voice somehow.

Hmm idk, live in an area long enough you'll speak like the locals.
Right...like everyone in Oblivion talked like Wes Johnson.
It's funny how people justify some bull**** like that to explain the lack of a gruff voice for the male dark elf, but every female elf in Oblivion sounded like the dark elf females in Morrowind.

Esbern will be voiced by Max von Sydow
The remaining NPCs will be voiced by Wes Johnson (males) and Wonder Woman (females)

Nooo I ment the overall accent. Not the we all use the same 5 voice actors, that was just stupid.
I mean like say, I know a girl that lives here from Washington State, and I never knew she was from there, she has a Southern Accent stronger than alot of the natives, while same time I know a woman that moved from here to Wiscon. And came back with that Accent as if she was never from here.

Your explanation is true. It just didn't occur in Oblivion. I wish it did, but it didn't.
Now for a matter absolutely relevant to topic...

Agreed. The artbook is also of the large coffee table book variety which is more impressive than I initially thought too. I thought it would be like the ME2 version. Still not shelling out £120.Captain Crash wrote...
