I'm remaking all my characters to get the most from this content.  I knew about Arvak but I had no idea on all the other spells they added to the game.

There are a lot of new spells - there are at least 4 in the Soul Cairn that I'm aware of, and some of the quest givers or faction members for each side have spells you can buy. According to the wiki, Dawnguard added 9 new spells total.

There is a guy in the Soul Cairn that is a merchant, who accepts soul husks as payment for armor, weapon, spell, etc (25 husks per item). I usually do a save right before talking to him/buying anything, to optimize the spell I get. I know, I'm a weenie.

Sometimes you get crappy ones, like Flames, but in my last playthrough, I ended up getting Invisibility, Waterbreathing, and an Expert level Destruction spell (which one escapes me atm), long before I was able to buy them elsewhere.

God I hate having to fight Legendary Dragons on my main.

Those bastards are mean, tough, and hit like a freight train.
One landed in Riften and it took me a good while to kill it.

No help from everyone who seemingly ran inside...INCLUDING Mjoll.
Riften's protector my ass.

Holy crap a dragon people run inside from and don't try to attack with an Iron dagger?

Hahaha, yeah I always hated that when everybody would fight a dragon which landed in the town... and then it would munch one of the quest givers and the body ended up getting thrown across the square.... I always thought. [Abalone] here we go again, reload.

It seems like dragons are a lot more willing to land within cities these days, doesn't it? I was used to fighting dragons in unwalled cities, but once they start landing in Riften, Windhelm, Solitude, etc., it gets crazy.

Where was Maven Black-Briar when all that happened? Normally, she likes to bring her Lightning Bolts to dragon fights.

I dont know.

Sitting on her ass, thinking she was the queen **** of the universe maybe?
Even though my Dragonborn really has no need for her, and basically if he could would have rubbed her out of existence by now.

My Dragonborn by this point though has basically cut ties with the Thieves Guild.
He joined for the challenge of it all...but now he just does not give a **** about it.

I mean....he is so not down with that whole "selling your soul to Nocturnal thing"
He crossed his finger, and whispered NOT under his breath.

Ugh, I hate the Thieves Guild - I will probably never do that questline again. Railroading me into once again serving some Daedric Lord does not appeal to me in the slightest - I don't mind serving Hircine, but I grow weary of the Companions questline and being railroaded into being Harbinger. I wish there were options to not become leaders of some of these factions - the Dragonborn doesn't have the time or the patience to run all of these different guilds.

I suppose one could argue that being Harbinger =\\= being leader, since no one technically leads the Companions - Arch-Mage also seems to be more of a title than an actual position of power, since Mirabelle/Tolfdir seem to be the ones actually running the show. Still, it bugs me to have to assume all of these positions that I really don't want.

I love the Thieves Guild plotline personally. However on my current run I purposely left Mercer Frey waiting for me to show up to be betrayed so I could run Dawnguard. The idea of him waiting grumpily weeks for me to get around to showing up amuses me.

Anyway I never serve any of the Daedric lords no matter what they actually think. A few of them you can say as much to. 'Yeah I'll take your cool item, but I'm not your servant.' and they seem fine with it. Most of them I just toss in a box somewhere anyway.

Actully at the end of the quest she tells you the debt is paid. So I'm guessing your off the hook given that was pretty much her most important artifact.

It should be quite amusing when the Dragonborn finally dies. Who is getting the soul? You can pledge your soul to so many Daedric princes that they will have a hard time splitting it up ^_^

Would love to see the chaos in Oblivion over that.

My Dragonborn intends to take as many as she can with her. It is the will of Sithis.

This is actually a great plan if you've ever read any John Constantine. They'll go out of their way to keep you alive to avoid the war between them when you die.

This page is sorely lacking in Dawnguard images. Can anyone help? Image IPB

Personaly, I believe the dragonborn will accend to godhood from taking a large number of dragon souls. There's a book in the riverwood inn (behind the counter) that mentions it as a theory for how Talos became a god.

My daily (sort of) update on Dawnguard. I've not done much more with my Redguard thief as I've decided to set up a new character who will become a vampire to go through that side of the main Dawnguard quest. I figured I'd do a Breton spellsword mostly using robes but with light armour boots/gauntlets. In the end I decided to name him Morec Von Carstein, after my D&D Warlock Morec (also have a Warden Cousland with the same name) and the infamous Von Carstein bloodline of vampires from the Warhammer world. Once I get further into the playthrough I'll put up pictures of him before and after vampirism.

So, some screenshots from previous days of Dawnguard playing.

Yeah; dislike the Snow White swarming and the like, but the overall storyline is quite enjoyable. Finished it a moment ago, then returned to a prior Save in Bleak Falls Barrow to better focus perks, skills, and storyline.

The backstory I have imagined is that Kel Orin is more than a Nordic Warrior. He is also a product of an Elder Scroll; a summons to defeat both Alduin and the Tyranny of the Sun prophesies.

As a matter of fact, his name literally means "Elder Scroll Even"; can almost hear Snagglepuss now!

I based my Imperial off of the Punisher to some extent.
He actually fought in the great war with his dad, and two brothers. He was the only one who survived the entire ordeal and went home. Then his mother and sister were killed by the Thalmor for worshiping Talos, and he could do nothing.
By the time he was around 25 his entire family was dead because of the empire, and he could do nothing about it.... Except murder a few Thalmor in their sleep, the person who tattled on his family, and a few imperial troops who helped in the arrest.

I just RP that he goes around pissing off the Thalmor and Empire where he could, and being a very bad thorn in their side. If only the Empire knew that they had a rebel like that on their hands....
Siding with Ulfric was fun, I got to kill Thalmor by the score, tons of imperial dogs, and get a new home.

One of our PC's is already a daedric prince, so why shouldn't we also provide a god to the aedra pantheon B)

That actually would be kind of cool.

Go and help Talos prevent the Thalmor from unmaking the world.
Especially as an Altmer.

Spell out "HA HA" in the night sky above Alinor...OR make a troll face!
I would make a terrible god I would simply do very annoying things to annoy people.

The patron god of trolls, jesters, comedians, and pranksters.
Maybe leave a whoopee cushion under Nocturnal's seat.

There's even a theory going around that the Arcturian Heresy will repeat itself, with dragonborn, Tullius and Ulfric taking the roles of Zurin Arctus, Hjalti and Wulfharth respectively in order to ascend to godhood.  It sounds wacky, but there are actually some parallels there.  I blogged about it a while back.
