My characters are always paragons, unless you count the murder and larceny, and occasional cannibalism. Image IPB

Most of my characters in RPGs are decent people, but usually have a temper.

My city elf for example? When he caught up to Vaughan and he offered him MONEY to walk away?
Well as the Patron Saint of Buttkickers for Goodness would say "EVIL MEET SWORD! SWORD MEET EVIL!

I gave Aela the Huntress enchanted dragonscale armor and a daedric sword with enchantments identical to those of my twin swords, yet she still got kidnapped by dem vampires.

I am disappoint.

Well, if Astrid can kidnap my characters while they're inside their own house, with a husband and housecarl in the same room, I guess it's not surprising that Aela could get kidnapped, badass as she sounds.

Which brings up an interesting thought... They should add a kidnapping and ransom guild of some sort. Although, if current standards and gameplay apply, you would probably just have to think about kidnapping them, and it would be done.

Hmm, on second thought, maybe not.

I just thought about the ridiculous fact that nobody seems to recognize well-fed vampires, even after the Dawnguard appearance update.

I mean... c'mon. Just look at the eyes and the bone structure of the face. Those vampires just don't look like your typical guy/girl next door.

They kidnapped Lydia from my PC's house.

So he used Soul Tear on each and every one of them.
Then made novelty shirts out of them.

Never ****** someone off who can rip your soul out by simply speaking.

Oh yeah Soul Tear is just awesome.
High damage, soul trap and zombify all in one shout. Yes please :)

The quest where you have to kill a vampire who's hiding in plain sight without incurring a bounty is such a bother if your character isn't all that stealthy. Maybe it's just with the Visiting Advisor in Riften, but his schedule never took him somewhere quiet and isolated, so I was struggling with how to do this... until I remembered I was a werewolf.

Is it a chore in other instances as well? If so, this will become one of my most hated quests. =(

^ It's not so bad if you just hide somewhere and use an exploding bolt on them.

I had a few of those quests in Jarl keeps, and just walked in, went into sneak, and shot the vamp. If it doesn't kill him, he'll become hostile; but if you sheath your crossbow, he'll mutter something, then he's suddenly not hostile. Rinse and repeat until he's dead.

As long as other NPCs don't see you, they kind of act like none of it is happening. Image IPB

Too bad I didn't spec in archery, though I can upgrade those crossbows to Legendary... but yes, exploiting the AI sounds like a reasonable strategy. =D

Have you tried talking to him? If your speech score is high enough you might be able to persuade him to follow you to a more discreet location.

I was able to do that with the Traveling Pilgrim. He trailed after me right up to the edge of the city's limits before getting suspicious and turning around. But by that point we were already out of sight. One quick arrow towards the sun later and he was toast.

I'd highly recommend doing the crossbow schematics quests, as it sounds like you're doing the DG side. You can get an improved crossbow (that you can also smith to improve even more), all three types of exploding bolts, then the Dwarven Crossbow, which I think is the highest. The base damage on that thing is ridiculous. Unless you don't plan for a career in archery...

@wicked - my speech is never high enough for that to work. They usually just laugh in my Dovahkiin's face.

My vamp character looked fairly normal before Dawnguard, there's nothing abnormal about vampire bone structure IMO, it's just that the face becomes more gaunt, and people could plausibly think it's due to diet. Bethesda dropped the ball with the Dawnguard appearance update, you would think people would notice the guy/girl with GLOWING YELLOW EYES and and slightly demonic looking face (don't know how else to describe the faces). If I was a Bethesda dev I would make it so that the Dawnguard appearance was for stage 4 and the appearance would get worse and worse looking as you progress through the stages, like it was in Oblivion. And at stage 4, people wouldn't attack you, but instead be scared of you and not speak to you('GET AWAY FROM ME YOU MONSTER!') unless you used an Illusion spell on them, like in Oblivion. Would give you a reason to feed , there's no point in feeding now since nobody cares and you can travel at night anyway to avoid the sun. I run around with my amazing poison and frost resistance and calmly endure Chaurus and spider spit, and laugh in the face of ice mages.

Heh, yeah, I had to switch my custom necklace out for an amulet of dibella to pass the check, but luckily I always keep one around in my inventory. My Nord has no practice in stealth at all and isn't a werewolf so that was her best bet.

Ugh, don't remind me. I have a new non-stealthy character. I suppose you could catch them with an invisibility potion and a power attack.

My assassin didn't exactly have a problem with it though.

Tricking that pilgrim into following me did work (strange that the advisor didn't have such convenient dialogue... oh well) because my speech is fairly high. Much less trouble than transforming into a werewolf, killing the vampire (which almost kills me because my character isn't that resilient as a werewolf), running away and then waiting to transform back.

This guy keeps following me whenever I fast travel for some reason.

Probably waiting until I go to sleep so he can slit my throat...

^ Ha! I had that, too. One time Serana and I fast traveled to Castle Volkihar, and the Dawnguard scouts and three Bandit Thugs were waiting for us. Only the DG scouts became hostile, and the Bandit Thugs kinda just stood there. We fast traveled again, and there they were, and again, they were still not hostile.

I ended up going into VL form, and ending their apparent misery. Image IPB

Just sayin. You can sneak around that bandit and then be like, WAZAA, and then he'd be like GURKAHIAUHOFIUNOIWUBF and then you'd go into ninjasku action mode and then be like wisssssssss and no one would be the wiser.

I don't care for crossbows so I'm definitely modding the Gauldur Blackbow to do more damage so I can keep it. Love that bow.

And yes LP, none of my characters goes without stealth. It's just too handy. This usually means Followers don't follow, but that's fine with me. My characters don't need help.
