The crazy thing is that Alduin probably IS Akatosh and just can't remember.  

 It would fit right in with all the weird stuff in Nirn - like Pelinal Whitestrake being sent into the past.

As for the World-Eater, Alduin does say he came from Akatosh, in a way that made me think of Zeus and Athena (where she came out of his forehead), with Alduin serving as an aspect of Akatosh. He proclaims, "Do not forget that it was Heaven itself that shed you from me." I wonder if his dissolution in Sovngarde means he returns to become one with Akatosh?

I wish they had given us a little more interaction with him for that reason.  Not of the muahaha variety of dialogue but the way Paarthurnax talks to you, so you could ask him about his motives.

Like the Nerevarine had with Dagoth-Ur? That would have been interesting. I wonder why Alduin walked off the path of World-Eater, although Paarthurnax does say it's in them to dominate.

Seriously though just fast travel to the keep in any city and its not a problem.

Except in Mortal, Dawnstar, Winterhold, and Falkreath.
But if random attacks bug you just resurrect them with the console.

I don't believe so. All we can do is speculate. I wonder how she would react to the Dragonborn serving Molag Bal, or being the Daedric Prince's Champion. Apparently, Lord Harkon doesnt acknowledge the Dragonborn having the Vampire's Mace, either, despite the Shrine to Molag Bal. I think that would interest him, given his history.

So I went to talk to the face changer in Riften, and was shut down in regard to having her do work on my Khajiit. She said something about only doing work on the living. Hmmpf. Vampires are locked in with their faces, just an FYI.

And here is a comparison of the before/after of my Khajiit. I snapped these images in the Arcaneum, so the lighting would be approximately the same. I apologize for the bad quality; they're from my tv.

Here is Ahdaira before turning into a vampire.



And here is Ahdaira as a vampire. Notice how pale she is now!

^ Urog says some really nice things once you become Arch Mage, and recover some of Shalidor's writings. He even got some new dialogue with Dawnguard.

He is hands-down one of the coolest NPCs in the game, imho.

@Giggles - why are you so upset? It doesn't weigh anything in your inventory. Once you finish up the main DG quest, you should be able to store it.

^ I'm not sure, Giggles. I haven't tried it on anyone but Dexion yet, and that usually takes me three tries. I'm curious to know as well.

I was thinking that myself. Shadr bit it in my first Dawnguard playthrough, and one of the beggars in Riften in my second, but I've pretty much gotten the hang of how not to fast travel, for optimal NPC preservation.

I've not gotten much further with Dawnguard (again) since I'm still working on my soon-to-be vampire character, getting him a bit further into the main questline, joining the mages college and a few other things, mostly just making him an established person in some areas before jumping into Dawnguard.

Still, I have screenshots.

Had a strange thing happen when I got sent to Robber's Gorge to pick up one of the Dwarven diagrams. Serana had apparently raised a bandit just as I was getting a kill animation on the bandit chief. I turn around to see Serana standing with this bandit, and then he turns around and calmly walks away from the little cabin and down to one of the tents and goes back to bed.



Most recently I had to track a master vampire by finding out his last known whereabouts from an NPC. This led me to his lair in Halted Stream Camp. So, I go into stealth, fast travel to Halted Stream and chaos ensues. First, I spot a dragon circling overhead (very strange, just a regular dragon and I'm lvl 52 usually fighting elder dragons all the time). The bandits are running around after the dragon, and then suddenly Serana and I are being jumped from behind by a trio of vampires. The bandits run over following the dragon, so now we're sandwiched between two groups with a dragon overhead that is flying a hell of a lot faster then it should. After dealing with the vampires I chase the dragon, who decides to land and fight a giant. When it takes off again, the giant obviously picks me out as the logical choice for vengeance and I'm suddenly backpeddling and trying to shoot the damn thing while it hammers the ground and throws my aim all over the shop. This is when the mudcrabs decide that everyone needs an arse-kicking. I'm just sorry that it was so chaotic that I didn't get any screenshots until it was over.

Anyway, back off to working on my vampire character.

^  You win this round. Hehe.

Fast traveling to nearby Stormcloak/Imperial camps isn't a bad idea for people who are worried about it. They respawn until the cows come home, so casualties are no big thing.

@BigEvil - that's quite a tale! I bet that was fun!

Has anyone actually attempted to strike down Serana once you discover she carries an Elder Scroll? I mean, placing both her and the most powerful weapon known to Tamriel in the hands of a clan of vampires sems a little iffy to me.

I like Urog's angry Atronach quote.  When I play mages, I like to snaek up to a group of bandits and then summon an angry frost Atronach right in the middle of them :happy:.

It's funny to hear them say to it, "You picked a bad time to get lost, friend."

You couldn't kill her if you wanted to, as she's marked as essential, and the questline doesn't shake out quite how you expect, anyway.

I just started it...at level 40 and I probably should have started earlier since there seems to be a lot to it.

Is there any in game way to deduce which tone you should strike 4th?  I searched around the room and the corpses pretty thoroughly and then just resorted to the old RPG standby: Nothing frightening enough will happen that I can't just kill or fix later.  So I guessed and got it right.  Or, well, I went by what I thought was a pattern from the dialogue the ghost gives...was that the actual clue?

I think you just guess. I know the journal provides the first two and a note on a nearby body tells you more, but there is no other indication of the order.

Frankly, I'm surprized there isn't more love for Urag on this thread, the Bethesda forums, and across the world in general.

He's such a brilliantly written character that even his serious rants are hilarious to listen to.  Have  you talked to him on the "find the elder scroll" quest?    Ask him if he has an elder scroll.  Priceless.

There's a tome you can pick up that has some of the solution, if I recall correctly.
