Since I can see a number of people, like myself, got screwed out of a Miranda or possibly Legion because of receiving error messages during the order process, consider this thread started as a place to stand up and be counted and heard.

I know I was there at just about the start, as it actually started a hair before 10 AM MST, and could only get Legion after having to wait several minutes, multiple times, each after having the order error out..

What a load of BS, is their server made of balsa wood?

First we got this little gem:

"Your Order Was Not Placed

While you were checking out, the operator of this business changed the price or availability of the shipping method you selected. Please check that your shipping method is still available, or select another below and press the Submit Order button again to place the changed order."

And then this one:

"Your Order Was Not Placed. While you were checking out, the
operator of this business changed the price or availability of the
shipping method you selected."

And unless this situation is rectified, we'll now have to wait again, quite possibly for nothing.

RAGE!

*Update via the wonderful NamiraWilhelm*

"I've got a message from Jedi... they're investigating it. One moment and i'll paste it

'We say the errors coming through. We had about 1000 order requests come through for the 200 Lithographs in about a 5 minute period which caused peoples orders to time out or not be accepted. Our IT department is working on the issue, but the bigger issue is to little supply and to much demand.'

Well, hopefully that if you're not lucky enough this time, at least you might not spend 20 minutes waiting for the order to error out this time. B)

Can someone post the actual message we received?

Also, lets not make this too much of a rage thread, or they'll simply close it.

Had same issue, there as soon as they were posted, 'submit order' was stopped many times due to that shipping message.

I kept getting the message as well. I wish I had copied it, but since I was in a rush to try and get my order in... I didn't. I really wanted the Miranda lithograph and hope I can get it during the next release. It's really unfair to keep getting that error when there should have been nothing wrong with my order.

It says something like the shipping method was changed during the checkout process. Please fix the store, I do not want to miss out on any more awesome lithos.

This has been happening for awhile since they updated the shipping costs sometime after Normandy came out I believe. So far they haven't given any solution or explanation about it to my knowledge. Doesn't seem like its something their going to fix, if they can because nothing has been done yet.

The problem with the final confirmation page not loading has happened to me the last couple of times and is apparently a combo prob with Paypal and server lag. All you can do is be patient and hope for the best with that prob.

I've just messaged the ME2 and Biofeed twitters and suggest others do too if they can. Someone want to harass "message" their facebook page?

I ALWAYS get timed out. It's frustrating. I was able to add items to cart just fine but checking out is a freakin' nightmare. I really don't understand why this keeps happening. Can't they do something about the server load?

I got timed out until Miranda was sold out. The remaining Legion litho in my cart then processed just fine.

The only time I had this problem before was with the first pre-sale of the Tali three pack.

That's about what happened to me as well, but the 3 pack was a day at the beach compared to this for me personally.  Could the traffic volume today really have been that much worse than the 3 pack pre-orders?  I have to doubt it.

Despite whatever the issue is within the ordering process, perhaps the most disheartening thing is that 3 of those 100 who got Miranda have already posted them up on ebay for 200+. It happens with a lot of collectibles in general, and obviously no one's fault related to Bioware or the store folks. Just a huge bummer is all.

Truth.  I mean they really can't do anything about it once they leave the warehouse, but yes, it's a shame that I bet several will fall in to the hands of profiteering scum.

Edit: On a happier note, my replacement Kirkwall lithograph showed up and it's in perfect condition :)

That's good news. I believe the store puts in their best effort to do the right thing. It's not like the don't want us to buy those lithos. Hehe.

Look guys - no other virtual store has to try and prepare to put up with such a sudden flood of people into its servers.  Also, no other store is generally in a position where theres (im guessing) 3-4 people per 1 item.  So how about you all take Zoloft, and cut the Store some slack...

The only real world comparison to this that i could think of would be something along the lines of Black Friday...at your local major retailer, people will wait in lines for countless hours or rush in and fight over items, grabbing at product that 3 other people already have there hands on...and virtually, instead of the strongest, fastest, most intimidating person winning, its up to the luck of the server to somehow figure out who gets each Litho....I mean, major retailers across the world havn't managed to figure out a good way to handle this, and you all are getting 'high and mighty', and raging out the Store?...*sigh*

The problem has been going on since Priestly started posting every Litho release update on Facebook - whether or not you havn't personally experienced or heard of this problem until now is probably a combination of ignorance and luck.  Since it's obviously a traffic issue, the Store has since been trying to manage and improve its servers...raging more won't fix or accelerate the repair of this problem.  Also, if you stayed informed, you would know that this is technically not the last chance to get a Miranda or Legion Litho from the Store, despite Priestlys salesmanship.

Ultor84 wrote...

Yes, though a better example would be in reference to the 2-pack - Miranda and Legion...those Lithos were quickly bought up by those who knew for sure that they definitely wanted a M&L Litho.  This time around however, not only do you have those people who missed out on the 2-pack, but you have people who just wanted a Miranda, or just wanted a Legion, AND you have those who were 'on the fence' concerning the 2-pack, but now that its their 'last chance', they decide to spring for one, or the other, or both...   ...all in all, its a lot more shoppers.

I was there, and likely several others, literally within seconds after it opened, as it opened early. I/we came away empty handed.  What you're suggesting is that people who are first have no reasonable expectation of being served first in a semi reliable fashion in 2010.  And we're supposed to be happy that our only recourse is to wait around until the next window, where it could just as easily happen again?

Spare me the attitude and play apologist for some other cause. How about you take that Zoloft, and stick it where the sun doth not shine and mind your own business?  If you weren't screwed by a faulty system, clearly this thread has nothing to do with you.

Lol Ultor84, thats not quite how i would have put it but okay lol

But agreed, we know about the traffic issues, we would just like some feedback as to this problem, specifically the message we received, if theres a way we should be submitting order (someone before has said the store is picky and requires a specific order etc).

The 'all take a zoloft' attitude is unnecassary, if you didnt encounter the issue you need not post in here. Not to mention theres barely any rage at all. People are entitled to feel cheated, whether or not its just a technical error, we just want some feedback. Lets keep this thread helpful and not make it an arguement

As Namira also alluded to, let's not forget that no one has attacked either Chris or Jed or anyone else who works for the store personally. As that would be irrational. I'm sure if they had their way, the store would be running silky smooth all the time.

But to even suggest that people who took the time out of their day and made arrangements to be available, came away empty handed through no fault of their own have no right to feel slighted or annoyed by the system? Thats unreasonable, not us.

I think I'm going to have to agree with you here. I took a lot of time out on the last release and got nothing due to errors with the transaction. Was pretty damn mad myself.

Wow...heh, @Ultor:

1) I'm not suggesting anything (way to fit my words into your thoughts)...it's obvious you got unlucky, but what your doing is comparable to yelling at Walmart for not setting aside one of your favorite coffee makers with your name on it - cuz your so special, right? You were there with 'several others'? - more like several hundred others, going after only 200 items, and the server worked as fast as it could - people are going to be walking away empty handed and you were one of the unlucky ones, so stop blaming me, this forum, and the store for something that none of us could have done anything about at present...though you could try getting a better ISP.

2) I wasn't apologizing...and this thread has no point - as i said, the Store already knows about the problem...all this is aparently just useless banter (trolling?).  All i was trying to do was inform and compare, but if you're too *insert descriptive adjective* to acknowledge that, and you're just going to continue to lash out on the internet (since, you know, thats SO worthwhile /sarcasm), I'll stop caring about the very dim-minded world you're apparently so used to...

@Namira - I understand that you're mad and I honestly feel for you, but raging up a forum is not the way to come across as reasonable, understanding, and sincere (though, you seem to be the one exception ^^)...the "Zoloft comment" was aimed to inspire some reasonable, calm discussion from this thread (instead of spamming twitter accounts) before it got locked by a moderator...i wasn't 'attacking' anyone, or trying to argue, but thats obviously the way this thread wants to go...so I'll leave you all to it since you don't want to listen and just pick apart everything i try to say.   - Oh, and as far as I know, there is no special way to order, but if you want to try and wait for someone who knows better, be my guest.

And who says I didn't miss out either? - but just because I'm in a more understanding mood and not punching holes in the walls, I can't post in this thread?...heh, if there was ever a better reason to lock a thread...

1)  Several hundred at that exact 15-25 second window?  Possible, perhaps even likely.  But speculation is not an argument.

Regardless of server load, as we could both go blindly back and forth, Mirandas sold out in a matter of, what, 15 minutes?  We submitted orders in seconds.  Could it have been the system processing a back load over time?  Sure.  But you know what?  We don't know.  Nobody who's posted anything today does.  The silence from the store staff has been deafening.  And my ISP is just fine, that excuse doesn't hold water.
2) If the moderators want to close it, that's their call.  I couldn't care less if they deem it subversive or non-constructive.  The point was to give the aggrieved a voice, and hopefully, a singular place where their concerns could be addressed by someone who actually had something to do with the store.  If that constitutes "useless banter" to you, fine.  Thankfully you don't matter.

Finally, If any one is trolling or inciting anything, it's you.   As you have no dog in this fight, this thread has nothing to do with you, so take your sanctimonious attitude, and post some place else.  I don't know you've been in the real world long, changes for the better rarely happen unless people speak up.  You might find this an exercise in futility.  It probably is.  But not saying anything is a tacit endorsement of that status-quo.
