If it was something for sale I mean. Even then a free item might well recieve at least a warning from the ASA.
I say this because you claim in your first post it is free and available to everyone but that is patently not true. Its Marketing speak.
Its available to "everyone who signs up for the news letter". That is not the same as "everyone". And if we dont want to sign up to recieving yet more junk email that we wont read except on rare occassions then we dont get the Item.
Thats False Advertising.
Kinda dissapointing that Bioware is resorting to this kind of cynical PR speak.
Tut tut. lol

Ya know I dunno about laws in Canada and the US but if you guys were in the UK, you would totally get skelped for false advertising based on this lol.

It is the norm in the US to use gimmes to gather marketing data. Nothing wrong with it, normal practice. Given I have seen I have seen similar things with discounts and coupons in the UK I really doubt there is any law against it there either.

Absolutely true in the UK as well. There, the terms (usually in small print) often include phrases that begin with: "Free of any charges if the customer will kindly do this-or-that..."JasmoVT wrote...

We have a Staff of Parlathan update for our Dragon Age II fans.
The Staff of Parlathan is a free in game epic weapon that we gave away this past summer during the convention season. Anyone who signed up for the Dragon Age newsletter wasgranted an entitlement (visible on your entitlement page) to redeem for the ingame weapon. This worked for most of our fans, but there was a small glitch that prevented a few people from getting their free item. The web team figured out what was wrong, but due to how busy they are, we were not going to be able to fix the issue till next year,
However...
We do not like leaving our fans hanging. Webmonkey Jeff worked his tail off and has now fixed the issue! So everyone who should have been granted a code previously, but did not get one, can now get a code. Not only that, anyone who signs up for the Dragon Age newsletter will also get the Staff of Parlathan!
Please go to this page
If you previously did not get your code or if you are signing up for the first time, please click the CLICK HERE link and register for the Dragon Age newsletter (yes, even if you have before). You will see the code appear in your profile (this is what we call an entitlement) and will be able to redeem it to your profile. You will NOT be sent a code through email nor will you get a confirmation email. The code will appear on your entitlements page. Once you have redeemed your code, when Dragon Age II is released, you will get the Staff of Parlathan in game (yes, on PC, PS3 or Xbox 360). If you already have a code but have not yet redeemed it, it is safe for you to do so.
Sorry, but you can't get extra codes for signing up again if you already have the code associated with your profile. It only registers once and codes cannot be traded. This is only a fix for people who had problems previously or are signing up for the first time.
Thanks to Webmonkey Jeff for getting this done. We hope you enjoy wielding your Staff of Parlathan.
In game EPIC weapon? LMFAO this weapon is by far from anywhere near epic...Its stats are extremely weak!

It's actually really strong for the first act and semi decent for the second. but like most other equipment on da2 it's stats don't go up with your level so it becomes weaker.

There is NO CODE. Go to your entitlements page, and look for the link to the right of the item to obtain a download.drasin wrote...
im not getting my code at all for the staff what does the entitlement page look like?
What does you Entitlements Page look like? See for yourself!
On the left side of the page you are reading right now, in the frame near the top under your avatar, select "Profile", then select "Your Registered Game Content".
Or use this link to the same place: social.bioware.com/user_entitlements.php.

Ok, so I entered my code, and it shows that it's available for pc's, and for X box, but I play on an PS3, and it doesn't show there! The page says it's available for all platforms...What happened?!
if you read the previous page i already posted a suggestion(can't verify
if it works or not as I didn't use a code to get the staff, signed up
for the newsletter to get it), try signing up for the newsletter(follow
the link from the op, but choose the 'click here' option instead of the
'redeem code' option)
dayplague did you signup for the newsletter?

Eh..the staff is useless after half-way through the second act anywase.
Yeah, I would've preferred it to be like fadeshear (or Bianca), and level up a bit as the game progresses. Would've made sense, considering how big a role it had in the trailer. And it's not like it would upset the balance, if it were locked to the three star level like fadeshear...
