Hi,

My current TV controller is getting old and most of the time do not want to work. Do you know if those remotes that you can buy in stores require some deep knowledge of electronics or they are plug-n-play sort of thing?

Most of the universal TV remotes now have auto search functions. They usually have instructions on how to do this (usually, turn on the TV and press proper button combination to intiate the auto-search). Otherwise, older versions have you punch in a series of codes (usually the remote will come with a list of said codes organized by TV manufacturer). Hope that helps.
