Hey all-
I got BG2 from good old games and want to play through finally. For various unimportant reasons I never finished it before though I started a few times. I played as a Paladin inquisitor in the past to get the Dispel ability, but I was thinking of trying something different this time... especially because I want to try out Viconia for once.
What do you think of a dual-wielding Berserker as a main character for BG2? I was thinking it would be good for resistances when needed versus mages. Any opinions here? Thanks.
Berserker as main character for BG2?

Sure, that's a pretty solid choice. Go half-orc for a little more offensive power - or dwarf, if you prefer playing defensively.

Berzerker is, IMO, the strongest fighter kit. Enrage doesn't do all that much for your damage, but the immunities it provides are second to none. Losing out on ranged weapons is not a big deal...in BG1, that's a major blow, but in 2, an inconvenience at worst.

It is an amazing kit for the defenses alone. Being immune to several very annoying spell effects and level drain is handy. You can also bypass the missile weapon limitation by spending points on axes or daggers. Those proficiency points still count toward throwing daggers and axes. As an aside, consider focusing on short swords or scimitars as a secondary weapon choice.

Berserzer is amazing so far. I managed to roll 18/00 strength after only about 20 or so tries. Went half elf for RP reasons and he is just tearing stuff apart. I'm completely ignoring ranged weapons and went dual wield swords/axes. He is a monster, far better than the paladins I played in the past. Of course, I just started really.
This game is awesome, but there's a really annoying bug where certain dialogs or voice retions will repeat over and over. Not sure what to do. Often I can just click the character again and it'll stop. A couple times I needed to save and reload. I'm running the fixpack and a couple mods, but not anything exotic. Oh well.

Carrying, identifying, and equipping missiles is a pain anyway. Kits that can't use them are a convenient excuse not to. Many high level things of at least ToB and maybe SoA are immune to arrows anyway, IIRC.
How good is Kensai? Is the armor restriction fatal? Oh, and can a fallen Paladin rise back?

Most people are vulnerable to arrows.
A kensai is probably the most powerful singleclass fighter at high levels. At low levels, it's a rather useless and frail kit. If you have a caster in your group, they can give him additional protection with Spirit Armor or Bark Skin, so his AC isn't all that bad (but then in ToB AC doesn't matter all that much anyway, unless you get it into the negative twenties).
Yes, a fallen paladin can be restored, but only by doing his stronghold quests.
