Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Here is my previous article on the other forums - http://daforums.biow...45&topic=707698
As it stands I can not do anything with the Hermit except to 'attack him' which fails.  I can also request that the Hermit ask me more questions.  He is not interested though.  I am unable to get through the 'forest barrier' -as you can tell from the link- and everything I have tried has failed.  How am I supposed to get past the 'forest barrier' with the tree being dead and the Hermit being uncooperative?
Thanks,
Compstomper

You get past the forest barrier by completing the quest with the Grand Oak, in the earlier part of the forest. He's located approximately to the south-east of the area before the one you're currently in.

Try stealing from the Hermit's stump and see what happens.

Thank you for the quick reply,

When I found the tree I ended up killing him. I then go Iron Bark from his corpse and had it turned into armor and a shield at the Dalish camp. I have no quest from speaking tree, as he is dead

Further ideas are strongly encouraged.

Thanks,
Compstomper

EDIT: When I look inside the moss-ridden stump the only option I get is 'continue'.  It tells me there is nothing worth my time in the moss-ridden stump.  Also, is there a way to just 'skip' getting through the barrier and move on with the game?  Or is this 'forest barrier' part of the main storyline that I am REQUIRED to do to complete the game?

Problem solved,

I managed to get a Werewolf pelt and get past the Hermit. I used the toolset editor to spawn a Werewolf pelt into my inventory.

Thanks,

You can also trade the scarf that you get from the dying werewolf/dalish that you encounter. I was still carrying the scarf after I handed that quest in so I got the acorn that way. If you also finish another quest (I cant remember which one exactly) you get a Dalish amulet that you can also trade for the acorn or one of the other items.
