I previously had this game on the PS3 before it died and while I intend to get another one (PS3)- for now I have gotten the ultimate edition for the 360.

During my last play through I came close to completion before abandoning the game (other diversions). What I was aware of however was that when it came to the arch demon, there was a few possibilities. I was thinking that ultimately the only conclusion that matched my character (male human noble, relationship with Leliana, trying to be as good as possible) was the ultimate sacrifice.

Now, however, with the awakening dlc/game I've become aware that the warden can be imported but with no mention of death. Add in that I'd quite like to see my character stay with Leliana so I'm trying to get straight what I have to do to avoid death and still stay a honourable character - I'm thinking that the following actions should get there -

Harden Alistair
Make Him King
Make Loghain a Warden
Make/Let him kill the Arch Demon

Now this seems good in theory - but is it? I'm worried that A) Alistair will not like this (not a big concern) B) It will in some way make me seem evil/bad/whatever to the in game people thus reducing the ending (don't want the epilogue calling me a coward because Loghain did it)

So are the actions set out gonna give me a nice ending (keep leliana, everyone nice is happy, seen as a hero)?

I thought I read that Alistair doesnt like it, but by then has gotten over it - Is this true?

Tell me if I've missed anything out, and thanks for taking the time to read this.

Seems like a good plan. Alistair will be pissy at the time but (mostly) forgive you in the end. Anora will be happy. No one else will care.

He'll absolutely rage at your character if you go speak to him after the Landsmeet, before leaving. By the time he shows up in the end game ceremony he's calmed down a bit but he still comes off as fairly bitter.

Based on his cameo in Awakenings he gets over it eventually, though. If you're wanting 'in the long run' rather than 'before Origins ends', he'll forgive you, yes.

Thanks for the replies - I wan't Alistair to be as happy as possible, but if I'm honest he seems a bit naive at times and I heard romancing Leliana then dying doesn't end well at all.

It doesn't. Your plan should pan out pretty well for everyone, ultimately.

Dying while in a romance with any of your companions doesn't end well for any of them, though if Alistair is king while in a romance, he ends up better off than the others.

The choices you made do work out pretty well in the end for everyone. Loghain gets to die a hero and savior, the Therin and Mac Tir blood lines are united and ruling Ferelden, Anora and Alistair actually rule quite well together, and you get to saunter happily into the sunset with your shoe-loving orlesian bard, so yeah, you made a pretty good ending for most everyone. Alistair does get over it, and since he's hardened, he even makes a pretty respectable effort to become a compatent ruler.

So everyone's happy, except maybe Morigan, since you didn't to the DR, but she gets over it too.
