Is there any limit on the Word Count in a module?

Our current Module Word Count at Eternal Destiny is approaching 2.5 million words.  I was told that for a mostly adventure module(RP Action Mix) that this was a rather high count.  With nearly 400 quests and tons of detail being added by Jeanie D'Jinni, myself and the Building Team I never did consider word count to be of much importance.

Should I be worried?

Word count of what? Conversations only? Item descriptions? Monster descriptions? Placeable descriptions? SpeakStrings? Tlk table entries? Individual files may have some limits, but there's no magic total word limit (I'll admit I haven't actually TRIED to break such a limit, but logically, one simply should not exist, within practical limits). Some conversations will error if they are made too large, but you can get around that with dynamic conversation systems.

I did not know this....I am having a strange bug on one of our conversations and it is by far the largest conv we have. It does not always display all the choices every time.

That's the issue, all right. I first saw this when one of our DMs tried to fit our subrace system into a convo. Some lines just refused to display - if memory serves, not even the same lines all the time. You need to look at dynamic convo systems to fix it. ZZ-dialogue is the newer, updated version of pspeed's z-dialogue. I haven't tried the update, but I liked z-dialogue, and used it in hgll, after pspeed helped me fix a bug in the vault version. We use a custom system by acaos, though it's a bit too much to share here, especially without codeboxes.

About how many words could I put in a conversation without worrying about getting errors? I made a quest conversation with just over 2000 words, and it works fine. I'm making a bigger quest now, and I wouldn't want it to mess up on me.

2000 aint bad at all...think the convo for us messing up is at least 5 times that.

Interesting.  I had no idea conversations should be limited in any way.

We have several questors that offer close to a dozen different quests.  Some of these conversation files run about or just over 10,000 words. I know the Offal Sweeper Questor is a 12,137 word conversation.  Talk about someone who's got alot of poop to say.    :innocent:

Anyone know what the cut-off is for a single conversation file before it "randomly" errors?

There is a conversation in Caereena - Krakona Rising that has inxs of 100k words, so for all practical purposes there doesn't seem to be a limit.

The convo occurs in a complex situation, and I wanted to make every small choice alter the convo outcomes, no looping back to the same set of choices etc etc. It was a beast to edit... Worked fine though, lots of actions too (spells etc etc).
