I just feel that for any game the enemy should stay realisticly even with you in things that they naturally would be, give or take a little of course a boss would be a little stronger health and armor wise, probably damage as well. But for the most part the main portion of enemies you fight should only mainly get better intellectually.

I feel that instead of this system the A.I should be improved. The difficulty settings should affect enemy squad aggressiveness, cohesion, and overall teamwork. Let's say these factors are at 50% for normal, then they scale to 75% for the next difficulty and then 100% for insane. Sure a little better gear is fine maybe i take 4 shots to drop shield they take 6-7 but it should not feel like it takes all my squad together on one guy like 2 clips each to kill a grunt. The system basically encourages max Damage per second over dynamic teamwork and using your noggin.

I also feel that this makes the game far less fun for anyone who is not a soldier. Powers should not be negated by anything except maybe other powers. Sure they work, some are even tailored for specific layers. But generally most are made useless and any fun aspect of them gone. They may do a little damage or knock your enemy back but I never really feel that powerful. You should always feel that if you are smart you can get the upper hand, and as the main character are generally a lot more powerful than most enemies.

They have the advantage of number's, maybe some better gear, maybe some decent biotic capabilities. But i am sheppard and through my sheer fortitude, histoy, combat experience and generally my elite squad and raw skill, if we are smart we can nullify their advantages.

I think the whole layer system sucks, to be blunt. B)

Now understand!!! i do not have any trouble on any difficulty with any character class, This is about making it more fun! I just think we could make some easy improvements. If the ones i have posted above are not feasable to the Developers There are plenty of other things so please post your idea's below!!!!

IT is TEDIOUS!! and could be far more enjoyable, my hopes are that this arguement could make ME3 better for all of us.

`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Also This seems to be a heated debate when it comes to ME combat so i will voice my view. My opinion on the ME 1 heat system compared to the ME 2 thermal clip system is this,
I think the first system would be very feasible that far in the future with alien technologies around to boot. I would imagine we would have energy sources in the future that would never need replacing maybe only break periods to regenerate energy. Also I would never say the weapons were useless, they may have had a safety ( an automatic cut off) that stopped the gun from ever getting to a point where it would become useless or at all damaged and stopped it for a brief cooldown period.
I would much rather have a gun with infinite ammo and fire it in interavals that would never make it overheat than have limited ammo. And if i ever got in to trouble i have a sidearm or two to fall back on while my main weapon cools. I find it a far better option than having limited supplies and running the danger of not being able to defend myself period.
Who is to say in the future they would not have rediculous systems to cool these weapons with?
Also, i think the military would far rather have a weapon that never run's out of ammo! and when fired in a controlled manner would never even need to cool off. And at most they would never completely discontinue use of such a technology that has so many advantages in certain situations maybe they would use both.
My final verdict - A hybrid system should be used to appease everyone.
The ME2 TC system goes against the Lore of ME2 and i do not like it. that said, in the end it comes down to it being a decision made by the dev's to try make combat more interesting and tense.
I agree. It does add to the experience. It just makes skirmishes last longer.
Most opponents can't regenerate health. You can get back up to full in a matter of seconds. Don't like it, level up Charge/Tech Armor/Barrier/Fortification/Geth Shield Boost.
Oh, and insanity is SUPPOSED to be difficult. Durr.
Just to get things straight, you're complaining that higher difficulty levels are too hard? Playing on Insanity isn't about going into the game and being an invincible badass.
I think the armor bar in ME2 sucked. It prevented a lot of powers from working and didn't make any real sense in the universe.
Because constantly having to sit behind cover for like 5 seconds every time i pop my head out is fun right? They generally should not be able to take more shot's than me.
They could be Insanely SMART using tactics and flanking etc instead of just having rediculous health bars. Do you really find that to be a good choice? don't get me wrong i have beat it on insanity and i can beat it easily I'm not complaining that it is hard i am saying it is tedious and is only meant to drag things out so you spend more hours on your game doing mindless things. <_<
Upgrade your weapons and health/protection. Just finish a new game on Insanity with my Soldier today and the ennemy cryed A LOT. Go for Warp ammo and kick some collector ass.
agree it was total crap.
IT wouldnt be so bad if they wernt all the same thing.. Health.
Example shields protect you from 100% damage at 100% shields... but as your shields drop they allow damage to get though.
Say Half of your current depleted shields
Shields at 50% allow 25% damage though.
Biotics attacks.
Level 1 requires all armor gone
Level 2 requires 90% armor gone
level 3 Requires 80% armor gone.
You get the idea.
Armor and shields should not just be EXTRA health AND protect from all effects of abilities.
THere was a reason soldiers were so much better then every other class.. they did the most DPS.. and DPS is what counted taking down the enemy.. everyone else took a damage and ability nerf till shields and armor were punched though.
I appreciate the tip's but i had no trouble on insanity i am just saying it could be more fun than having to maximize for cutting through defenses.
It's not hard.. it's tedious
You wanna talk about mindless, complain about planet scanning. As for enemy intelligence, I agree that the AI is crap.
I've seen people do speed runs on insanity, so it's definitely not tedious if you do it right.
Agree with you on that one. But also, I remember while playing the first Mass Effect, Biotics were way more powerful than soldier. Shepard anyway is a Soldier everybody know that ^_^=]:whistle:
They should make AI extremely well organized and tactical(advancement/cover/positioning, fire and maneuver, aggressiveness, ambush, interlocking fire) for harder difficulties.
It should be about out thinking your enemy.
Cover is easily exploited making an engagment rather easy regardless of shields, it becomes nothing more than a waiting game.
Planet scanning is another issue that could easily be improved. Atleast it's relaxing.
It is not much faster and regardless why should you have to tailor your character to do massive dps? I do not find a speed run fun why would you want to rush through a game like this? I want to enjoy every part of the game thoroughly taking my time after every battle i want to think about the fight at hand i want it to be differant from the last but it's not it's the same thing every time!!!! Chip through massive defenses finally get to use my powers, repeat.
yup, in my opinion you should be able to play whatever you want how you want and be able to have fun overcoming any given situation.
It is a game if your not having as much fun as possible why play?
That is absolutely not what i am saying. It is tedious, this is a arguement to make the game more fun.
I repeat I have NO trouble beating this game with any character on any difficulty! that being said, I am commander sheppard the hero although my enemies are strong i should always feel i am powerful givin that i use my head and understand my enemies.
I understand that i need to do massive amounts of dps. I find that pretty shallow, powers should be usable whenever and the enemy should not be able to take more damage then me generally especially grunts but they should use their ADVANTAGE their number's normally and try use teamwork.
So... you're complaining about it being tedious, but you don't want it to go fast, either?
Really, a lot of the powers still work on armor.  Overload overheats weapons, several others have a knockback effect...  Seriously, try using powers even though they're redded out.  I was surprised.
Can anyone point to a game that does this well. I mean crap tactic AIs seem to be the norm to me.
Anyway on the RP side of things I did find it odd/lame that special forces super funded soldier has shields that absorb like 200 points of damage, random street thug has shields that absorb 1,000 points of damage.
Wouldn't it be pointless for Bioware to create super good enemy A.I for only the harder difficulty levels? Also, what about the people who like harder difficulty levels to just be scaled against them?
I think that they should just increase the A.I skill in general, for all difficulties, and then keep the harder difficulties the same.
