I've agonized over this decision as my PC could run this game at low-medium to medium settings at best. I'm going with the 360 because its connected to a 50" HDTV (with surround sound) and I'm not willing to spend money to upgrade my video card and/or the components necessary to connect my PC to my big TV. I doubt that I'll be using the Toolset that much and so the 360 wins out...barely. I just hope that game play is fun and doable on the console.

Wow this thread did so good for so long. Everyone was very civil. Then suddenly... bam. The trolls all came out of the woodwork.

Anyways. PC is the way to go. Without a doubt, this game was originally developed for PC and the interface reflects this fact. Console's version will be fun, sure, but it will have a much different feel. It is more oriented around "single character" control due to a controllers limitations. It will play more like an action RPG. If you like Knights of the Old Republic or Mass effect more than you like Baldurs gate or Temple of elemental evil, then go console. If you like multiple character tactical RPG's go with PC.

Can't wait to play this game.  I have it preordered on the XBOX 360.

I love Consoles, but PC is the way to go here, free content from the community.

even though kotor and kotor2, where awesome on the xbox but i think pc is better because you will be able to pauze the game for tactical choices while on colsoles it's left out :P

..No, you can pause the game on the console as well.

Really? I thought that the pause button was like the pause button in ME. The radial menu. Not that I have anything against the radial menu but I remember how irritating it was when I couldn't tell my party members who to attack unless I was in real time or telling them to attack with a power.

My computer is only a year old and I bought it as a top-of-the-line computer but it is already slowing down (don't know if it's the evil windows or bad fan that is making it over heat and the over heating is slowing it down or what) so I was going to use the "speed up your computer for free!" thing and hope to god it works because I want to be able to pause then swich between characaters and set up a strategy but if the 360 version actually has a "real" pause button then I'll swich my pre-order in  a hearbeat

Well, I have both PC and 360. But I have ordered DO:A for my PC. Mainly due to the toolset and in anticipation of the great and less than great community content that I will be playing well past the time I would normaly put the game away if I bought it for my 360.

I've been going crazy over this decision for a while now. My PC meets nearly all of the spec requirements except for processor, (a single core AMD Athlon 2.7g), and no PCI express slots so I'm using a GeForce 8400 GS 512mb. It barely runs The Witcher on even the lowest settings and the framerate is horrible. So I pre ordered it for the 360 cause the PS3 version was coming out later. But since all 3 versions are launching together I've been going back and forth between the two console versions. Normally I would just get the 360 version and be done but I read an online interview that's making me think the PS3 version will be the one to get.

It will be interesting to see if it was worth it for Bioware to delay the game for months to get it on 360 and PS3. I suspect that is an EA decision. Traditionally, games like this do well on PC and less so on console due to the community content.

Having played with mods for all my favorite Bioware RPGs, I think PC offers the most value.

I will be going for PC without need of a thought, because my specs will offer sweeter graphics at same/better performance and I prefer gaming on PC than on consoles.

Well in the end Ill have both version available to me due to friends and whatnot, but I am getting it for PC. So far my PC plays games at or better than the console versions(Quake 4 and Oblivion off the top of my head) so its a no brainer. However using the same example Oblivion on the console plays differently than it does on the PC, and is still just as fun regardless of addons.

Community content has some really great stuff usually, but its not the same as developer content which the 360 and PC will both have. PS3 sure doesnt have a great record where developer DLC is concerned.

Two considerations for PC though:

1) Ability to tweak/hack/mod the game to run better on lower end systems than it would by default. By this I mean low res texture packs, polygon overhauls, or something akin to OldBlivion. Or simple .ini tweaks that increase performance for almost no visual loss. Of course this takes months for things like that to be found out and may not happen for DA.

2) User content is always permanently in Beta. You load up a piece of user created content and your going to be testing it, or youll run into bugs/unfinished parts. You just cant really get "into" it like you can with the original game or official DLC. Not to say its not worth downloading some addons, as youll know if youve played something like NWN and this looks to be a similar case.

If you have both consoles and live in the US, get the PS3 version.  It won't RROD on you in the middle of a particularly engrossing quest.  :D

I'm buying the 360 version because I actually enjoy gaming on my couch with a controller and don't have a PC that was put together with gaming in mind, hence am what would be considered a "console gamer". I do play the occasional PC exclusive though and am far from someone who gets into debates on which platform is better as it truly comes down to personal preference no matter what.

That said, all things being equal in you preference of platform (ie you don't prefer your PC over console or your console over PC) I'd say go PC. You'll have access to user created content more graphic options (assuming you can handle the higher end requirements) and the tactical view (if that matters to you). These things are not really enough to sway me to keyboard/mouse in my office chair over controller on my living room couch, but for you it may be. As for PS3 or 360, if you go console, that's 100% preference as they are both the same with the same limitations compared to the PC version.

You forgot the other side of the coin:
3) Ability to squeeze/shove/force every grain of special effects, additional effects from graphics card control page on high end systems than the game would normally appear on max. By this I mean ultra res texture packs, animation/mesh overhauls, something akin to Morrowind Expanded, or simple .ini tweaks that increase quality for zero performance loss, since the rigs are so good they aren't even trying. A top end PC beats console any day.

While the consoles and the so-called recommanded settings enjoy 99% of the visuals the game has to offer, on a good PC we plan on making that 120%.

Well I just made up my mind on this and I'm keeping my 360 preorder. Even though for some reason I think the PS3 might be a bit better in terms of graphics and audio, it won't be that big of a difference. The fact is I just prefer to play games on the 360, even after going through 3 of them! When I upgrade my pc later I'll probably check that version out cause I think it will be a different feel from the console versions.

I wouldnt personally, PS3 doesnt have stellar DLC support records compared to 360 counterparts, but personally I didnt buy a PS3 either.

Quite a silly question sorry. On PC if I get it on disc would I need to use the disc every time I want to play the game, or do I install once using the disc and that is it? Trying to decide if I want it on disc or download..

You need the disc in the drive every time you want to play.

On the upside, there's no other DRM, so you can install it on as many computers as you want without anyone screaming at you and accusing you of being a pirate.

Having legit copies have never stopped others from accusing me of being a pirate and even banning me for it.

Yaaarrrgh.

and this is supposed to be "not trolling"? Where's the proof that the console-version miraculously transformed into some kind of single-character hack & slash-game all of a sudden? It's the exact same game, with exactly the same tactical possibilities on all plattforms, that should be obvious by now. The only thing that's "limited" on console is the number of short-cut buttons. Big ****ing deal. The beauty of the engine is that on ALL plattforms you can play it as you like. You can play it tactical by pausing all the time and deciding each move for every char individually (yes on consoles too! *gosh*) or you can tweak your AI Settings to Bot-Mode like FF XII and slash away without ever pausing and controlling just one character the whole time. It's completely up to the player and it has nothing to do with the platform it runs on.

I'm going with the PS3 for the sheer facts that I have a bigger HDTV than monitor and surround sound. Plus I sit in front of a pc for 8 hours a day 5 days a week and sitting in front of it at home is just too much.
