I actually really liked the fact Femshep moves like a guy - I think it's empowering really. Having said that, I think they should only give her her own animations for when she sits down to talk to Garrus and when she dances - I miss her old danceThere are probably a few other examples, but for the most part, I think it works extremely well!
Please don't misunderstand.. by no means was I suggesting fem shep's movement needs to be turned into some absurd catwalk-type stroll where she moves her hips side to side in some absurd fashion.
What I mean is that men and women have different centres of gravity, different body proportions.. and we walk / move differently.. it's subtle, we don't notice it in our day to day lives.. but when it's wrong in a game, it's painfully evident.
The biggest though being that a woman who looks to be 5'8 and 130lbs or so with a lean build, should not move like a 6'0 210lbs well-built male.
I.e. Female shep does not having a "wing" (muscle mass near the armpit)... Male shep does... Male shep's arms needs to hang wider out due to his muscle mass... female shep, who has lean arms, should not hold her arms in the resting position the same way male shep does.
Same applies to walking and running gait. She runs as if she 1)Has testicles (men run differently than women because of this, believe it or not). 2) Has heavily built thighs (which she does not).
Er, don't flatter yourself, I wasn't even responding to you lol! Not sure why you you assumed I was :/ Reading your post here though, for the most part, I think you're overanalysing! I think most of the animations look good on her, especially the action stuff (thank god she punches properly and not like a Spice Girl!). If they keep everything the same, but change the way she sits down in a dress and bring her old dance back, I'll be happy.
Btw, women do have lats, lol.

Well, my fiance is a marathon runner... many of her friends are also amateur athletes. Having experience in physical fitness and training from years of military service, I often help her at the gym with her training with spotting and for motivation / support.
When I watch how she, or her friends run, I watch their gait. I then watch the men on the track also running.... day and night difference in everything how they carry themselves - from positioning of elbows, shoulders and how they move through a single stride. Same thing when they walk on a cooldown period.... men and women's bone structure does not hit the ground the same way (much of this has to do with the drastic difference in our hip bones).
Anyway, I digress... What I will conceed is that during cinematics, fem Shep looks just fine.. I can't perceive anything wrong in her movements (LoTSB moments, suicide mission cinematics, etc).
But... gameplay, her movement is that of 200+lbs male... femshep has a physique that far more closely resembles my fiance who's a marathon runner, than that of body-building female (frankly, fem shep looks like 99% of the women I served with in the military... endurance that matched most male soldiers, decent physical strength for their mass... they all generally looked lean and frankly, hard to tell much difference between them and a healthy civilian).
This isn't about making fem Shep "girly".... it's about making them move the way human females actually move. Just get someone in the mo-cap studio who's a female athlete (or of average fitness) and mocap them walking, running. They did it for male shep, they should do it for femshep.
To be fair, a lot of the problems in femsheps movement is masked when wearing armor, since the armor gives the illusion of increased body mass.
Previous posters are correct though.. I did load up ME1 just 30 mins ago and femshep does in fact run and walk the way a female of her build would in the real world.. for the most part. I cannot fathom why they didn't just recycle the femshep walk / run / posture animations from ME1, rather than applying male shep's animations to her.

You answered your on question the movements make sense when Femshep is in her armor so they probably didn't think about what that would translate to when she was out of it. Maleshep doesn't magically gain a good 4 extra inches in diameter on each arm when he puts on his armor where as Femshep does. So when they were doing the animations and the used the old Femshep animations from ME1 there were a lot of clipping problems that they forgot weren't going to be there when Shepard took off the armor and walked around in casual clothing.

Overall, Bioware neglected femShep in ME2. I would rather that they skip femShep altogether.
As in remove the option to play her? Why in the world would this ever be a good idea?

is running like a gorilla necessary?
At least fix the running animation and adjust the sitting position when she's wearing a skirt to prevent panty-flash.
This.

Figure of speech; I think he meant that, unless BioWare actually makes female Shepard a woman and gives her equal amounts of attention as her male counterpart, they shouldn't bother even making her an option.Bourne Endeavor wrote...

I just thought I'd quote this for truth. I kind of like that my main femshep is kind of akwardly masculine (I like the way she sits in Garrus scenes, she's not one for dresses so I never had a problem there) I think it fits the earth-born background. But the model just looks off when walking/running out of armor, carrying weight that isn't there

I never had a problem with the way she sits most the time since heck, I sit like that half the time anyway.
I just want a walking animation that fits her skeleton so she doesn't look like she's about to scream "SHEPARD SMASH!" out of armor. I do think Sheploo looked a little funky too walking around.
I don't care if the Males and females have the same movements in game cutscenes.

Indeed. Here's a possible solution that might make us all happy - they could give her a more muscular "amazonian" build outside of the armor ala female sprinter (not a long-distance runner, a sprinter) or a bodybuilder who hasn't taken it too far... like Jamie Eason.
I'm pretty happy with how she walks and runs inside the armor, but I agree, it's not consistent with her waif-like build that I wish they would change!

It took an awkward chat with Liara for her to finally understand what everyone was whispering about:

Hopefully FemShep will remember this conversation going forward.

As for the other animations, I'm happy if they keep them - they're empowering.

Wow, I never really thought about that she sits more feminine in LotSB, I must head to youtube and see how manShep sits in that scene.
Nah, he's chilling in that scene.
