Basically, my current computer is an alienware laptop that I bought almost 6 years ago and it has served me well all that time. I got it for about 2,700 USD.
Now I'm basically looking to do the same with a few changes:
1. A Desktop instead of a Laptop (more bang for the buck and easier to upgrade)
2. To extend it's lifetime and be able to play the games coming in the future at more than decent settings, I will upgrade the parts every so often.
3. As it is a long term investment with occassional upgrades, I'm comfortable with about a 3k budget.
So, this over-thinking is more about getting it right the first time with a view to the future.
The ironic thing is that the LGA 2011 would probably give me a headache.
