 Is it just nostalgia?

Ah, the good ol' days of rioting and burning down buildings.

*sniff, wipes tear away from eye*

The South will rise again!  *puts Confederate battle flag on the back of his truck, or on top of my state capitol building*

It's not unheard of.

Do you think putting a stop to the Kirkwallian Rebellion will be Hawke's first step to becoming the Champion?

Is there a reason the slaves made the symbol look like a dragon, or a bird?
If it's a dragon, why would they pick a dragon? Didn't acient Tevinters worship Dragons?

And if it's a bird, what kind of bird is it and why did they chose a bird? Does it represent freedom?

I'd rather think he becomes a part of it. The symbol does seem vaguely reminiscent of the blood dragon behind Hawke on the box art.

I think it's a choice ingame.

If you side with the rebellion, you're a champion to them because you stood against whoever they are rebelling against.

If you side with the other people, you're a champion to them because you stopped the rebellion.

Can we not champion apathy?

I was amused to see the name "Redwater Raiders."

The Redwater river runs through the southern portion of my county. That's probably where they got the name from, since I live north of Edmonton.

That makes sense.

Or maybe Hawke starts using the symbol him/herself?
Anyway it's almost 4 in the morning here, so I need sleep-_--_--_--_-

And the splatter Dragon T-shirt with the seven figures in it. The head is even pointed the same way. I guess the new Visount adapted the symbol to its latest iteration, making it look much more like an eagle.

But that seems kind of odd. Why would slaves represent themselves with a Dragon, the creatures their owners worshipped? An eagle would make much more sense if you're crusading for freedom... Maybe is just an eagle.

I think you are probably right about the eagle Blacklash93.

Still, was this symbol only used in Kirkwall? Or was the rebellion also happening in the Tevinter Imperium? Although I don't think that they had much success in Tevinter if there was a rebellion.

could be that it is a dragon, if the symbol is made with blood it could symbolize "Death to the Tevinter Imperium" by associating dripping blood with their object of worship.

i also could be totally wrong:P

The Tevinter Empire presumably liked blood, given that it was run by blood mages.

It could be that the slaves most likely had the same relgion as everyone else and use a dragon to give the idea that thwey had the gods on their side or something.

oh great. Now we'll have teenagers and hipsters who don't know the first thing about Hawk and his Hawkolución wearing t-shirts with his image on it, walking down the streets of Kirkwall sixty years from now, spouting his quotes completely out of context.

Somewhere I once saw a shirt with Che's face on it and a subtitle that simply read: "I have no idea who this is."

Makes you want to both laugh and weep.

i once saw the head of the Conservative society at university wearing a che guevara t-shirt. he apparently didn't see the irony.

on-topic, are we going to be leading a revolution? that'd be cool.

What if it is Fenris that starts re-using the symbol?

I mean, he was a slave to a Tevinter Magister wasn't he?

Yup can see it now, peasant rebellion charging up the steps towards Hightown, Lady Hawke stood at the top poised, ready for battle, smears nutella over her nose.

Lady Hawke: "DEATH TO THE PEASANTS!"

*She casts the largest fireball ever seen in the history of Thedas and casts it down the stairs like a firey wrecking ball and all the peasants charging up get incinerated as it hits them, continuing through the rabble until there is nothing left but roasted human remains*

Lady Hawke: "TONIGHT WE DINE ON ROASTED PEASANTS AND REDWATER WINE!"
*image shoots to Varric still being interrogated by Cassandra*
Varric: "Roasted Pheasant, aah, now that was a banquet!"

Cassandra: "I thought you said it was a Peasant rebellion? Damn you Varric stop lying to me!"

90% of the people wearing Che shirts have no idea who he is.
