So that's the reason the Qunari strike Kirkwall...

Not only are there a lot of Ferelden refugees coming to Kirkwall, which probably strains Kirkwalls recources, but there is also a rebellion going on inside of Kirkwall. Maybe it is the mages that are rebelling this time, I mean the Templars rule them with an iron fist no?

And when the rebellion is stopped, the refugees fed.
The Qunari strike a weakend Kirkwall.

This is the only explaination I can think of right now.

The qunari have been held back so far through the use of mages, if kirkwall is kinda mage central for the region, makes tactical sense they'd want to knock it out first. Plus it seems like a strong defensable foothold.

So the Qunari invade Kirkwall because its weak? That doesn't sound cowardly at all.

I suppose if you're fighting a stronger opponent, you should strike where you can. Still I hope there's more to it than that

The Qunari held Kirkwall before, maybe they left something. Or they just want Kirkwall back because it is a stragetic position.

As for the Dragon symbol.
Maybe Fenris is the one painting it in Kirkwall, being a escaped slave from the Tevinter Imperium, and all.
And since Kirkwall used to be a major city for slave trade, I don't know maybe he has his reasons.

So BioWare just released some info about factions in Kirkwall, one of them being the Raiders of the Waking Sea. Do you think that the Redwater Raiders are a (small) part of the Raiders of the Waking Sea? Or maybe that was just a place holder name... Or they are the mercenaries Varric talks about in the second Dev Diary.

oh great. Now we'll have teenagers and hipsters who don't know the first thing about Hawk and his Hawkolución wearing t-shirts with his image on it, walking down the streets of Kirkwall sixty years from now, spouting his quotes completely out of context.

Somewhere I once saw a shirt with Che's face on it and a subtitle that simply read: "I have no idea who this is."

Makes you want to both laugh and weep.

A great piece of graffiti on the wall near my local shopping centre: Che's face and the caption "Hey kids! Buy my T-Shirt!"
