Stuck in the Lazarus Research Laboratory. . .

I can't get past the second scene in Mass Effect 2 for PC because the "use" command won't work.

The 'use" command is by default bound to the spacebar, but the command won't work

I have tried:   changing key bindings, reinstalling the game, reinstalling drivers,  different keyboard, and the ME2 patch that was posted on this site 6months ago and none of it has worked.

If anyone has any suggestions of anything that could possibly work I would be very, very happyPosted Image

Also, any further information needed, i will gleefully provide.

Post specs per the stickied thread. By far the most common cause of this is a graphics card below the minimum requirements.

As stated, it simply can't react fast enough. It is way too slow, and too old. It even has shader defects that result in really weird results. Instead of clouds in NWN2, four years ago, all it could do was create a checkerboard pattern in the sky. In computer terms. three years is a long time ago, and 5 years is forever. That card was really bad when it was new, five years ago. Now it's merely a stale, sad, and bad, old joke.

I have a computer with that same graphics card, and I can say any hope of playing ME2 on it and having it look good is a lost cause. At the very least, you'll have to dial the resolution down to 800*600 and turn all the lighting and shadow effects off. Even then, you'll get herky-jerky performance. However, I was able to play all the way through that level and into the next on that card, and you have a better processor than my computer has, so dialing all that stuff down should work.

But Gorath is right, the GeForce 7300 is an old piece of trash at this point, and you should look for a replacement. That processor is rather old too, so you should just look for a whole new computer entirely. (Not a laptop if you want to play games on it, as they are not upgradeable. Get a desktop -- it's cheaper and can be upgraded in the future.)
