My problem w/ Shepard dying at the end of ME3 is that s/he already did die ... in the beginning of ME2. I've already seen Shep die (and what a meaningless death it was) so that sort of weakens the emotional punch some what, at least for me. I'm sure there will be a ending where s/he will die, but BW shot themselves in the foot w/ the idiotic ME2 resurrection. For me, at least, it's not really a question of if Shep will die, but how is BW going to sell it?
I don't think the "resurrection" is idiotic, since they did use a sketchy of area of science to justify it - cybernetics, in Shepard's case - but I'd love to see the real emotional weight of the game focusing on something larger than simply the threat of him dying. Just like in the Suicide Mission, what I loved about it was not only the prospect that Shepard could die, but also the possibility that people Shepard had bonded with could also perish. In ME 3's case, the threat is much larger - the stakes of Humanity and ultimately, the galaxy - and as long as we are reminded of this in Shepard's death (should it be possible) then I'm perfectly okay with it.
