I'd rather leave the Imperium in charge. The city was stolen from them, after all.

I wouldn't tolerate ether of them I would refuse to recognise the authority of the chantry and remove them as a political force I.e throw out the templar order and replace it with one of my own where soliders can be trained by previous templars loyal to hawke becuse that at the moment is the true power in Kirkwall. The difference is that this new order would police mages but mages would be allowed in it to to track down apostates and bring them to the tower. mages would have to graduate and then recive a hand brand then are free. They can choos their own fate.

The Chantry would be welcome to have chantrys and preach as would the Qunari but mage hawke wont let ideology into politics.

Think i'll put Bethany in charge as GrandmasterPosted Image

This is assuming all goes well and an exalted march isn't declared.Posted Image

Meanwhile Hawke shall become the new Visicount of kirkwall Then through conquest and negotiation become High King of a United free marches kingdom Posted Image

I'm going to have to go with neither as well. I have too many deep seeded RL hangups about religious institutions (especially those operating as a means of government) to ever play a character who championed one. Maybe I just suck at RPing.

I'd let the people decide! Democracy!

Chantry or chipsQun.

I'd choose the Chantry; I suspect it is far easier to overthrow a group of religious drug addicts than horned giants with a military culture.

Should the need arise.

Interesting topic.

I'd have to see how the Qunari culture is developed in the new game - there may be new things in the new game that we weren't priivy to in the old one. Or there may be a "Midiclorian Move" where the whole concept of The Qun is re-written.

I could write the same about The Chantry, but somehow I feel like The Chantry's stances and philosophies are pretty concrete in lore and I don't see the writers being comfortable changing that.

I won't answer the question but to say I'll decide when the decision is put before me and not until.

The Chantry, absolutely. If you're not a mage, then the Chantry are just your standard church pretty much and won't mess with your life, while the Qunari either brainwash you into being a wlling slave, put you to work in labour camps as a more traditional slave, or just kill you. And if you are a mage, the chantry still seems to be much better, if still far from ideal.

Based upon what we already know about the Chantry and the Qunari, I'd say the Chantry is the lesser evil.  And of course, it would all depend on how I role play Hawke if such a choice were to come about (probably as a lawful good warrior-type the first time around).

The Chantry, with the condition that they release control of the Lyrium trade.

Basically the same as everyone else I'd go with the lesser evil and go with Chantry. That being said, I would love to explore Qunari culture more (I do hope if not in regular DA2 in a expanion/DLC we will).

The Chantry, they may be kind of brutal when it comes down to it but at least they're still leagues better than the Qun. Even if we had the option of thoroughly over throwing the Chantry I wouldn't do it, except maybe with an elven character, it just doesn't feel right playing a humanist PC in the setting.

Ok edited topic; so what if you had to choose between the Chantry, Qun or Imeprial Chantry to leave in control of kirkwall?

My Hawke would side with The Tevinter Imperium because he is a mage and well It would probably most benefit him as it offers more freedom for him

Ok, so now we have three religious and expansive groups to pick from? I would probably go with with the white Chantry. They may be ignorant and self-rigteous, especially when it comes to magic and other religions and cultures, yet I feel they are probably less likely to kill or enslave you and your entire family, plus they are already established there... But really, those three are all terrible choices and I'd rather just have the nobility or Hawke control it.

Well since you added Imperial Chantry. Then I'm choosing Imperial Chantry definetly. When I first read the codex page for the "Black Divine" I really started to like the Tevinter Imperium right there.

Depends. I'd leave the Imperial Chantry in charge, sure. But not the normal Chantry.

Hmm... If somehow you could have the Imperial Chantry without bringing the Tevinter with it perhaps them. As far as I know they haven't said whether or not slavery is a part of Imperial Chantry views (though... probably not that hostile towards slavery or probably wouldn't do well in the Tevinter Imperium).

I wouldn't support the Imperial Chantry any more than the Qun. The Orlesian Chantry is the only one of the three that doesn't try to actually take control of the government. If the Chantry in Kirkwall is trying to do that, then they're moving beyond their purvue and need to be removed and replaced by Chantry officials who aren't.

Not directly but It's a major player in Thedas controlling the lyrium trade and the power of exalted marches.

I also get the feeling that the Chantry is biased towards Orlais. Has there ever been a divine that wasn't from Orlais. The ages also reflect this almost always having to do with the glory of Orlais.

The templars are in charge of Kirkwall in all but name they killed the last visicount to have him replaced with someone they could control.
