Much to no one's surprise given my bias: female mage with a custom face on nightmare difficulty. Playing without friendly fire sucks away part of the fun of playing mages.

@AClockwordMelon - We know from the Pax interviews that gnome hats are gone in DA2. Other than that we only have screenshots to go by. An early screen showed Bethany in a redesigned circle robe that I thought was much improved. YMMV though.

It's gonna be either a Male Warrior or Male Mage.

I normally play a Rogue first, but they sound way to ninja-ish this time.

So I would either be swinging with a 2-handed axe/hammer, and be a real rogue-warrior.

Or I'd be hurling nature spells around. (if there are nature spells).

It looks like I'll be forced to play on Nightmare as well, even though I never play games on higher settings first time through (and rarely on subsequent plays) -

and where DA:O's marketing had me so intrigued to play first as a Female City Elf Rogue earlier on, playing a gender I play infrequently and never first, a race I loathe and a class I avoid like the plague...

I guess I can thank DA2 for bringing me "back to my senses" because you'll never see me play the"Attack of the Clones Yoda" class as my MC, and I'm thinking long and hard about even including one in my party.

So we'll be going paladin-esque warrior, sword and shield, male, to try and get as much enjoyment as possible out of the game for me.

As I just learned about the increased damage numbers, this will probably be the first cRPG I play with damage number floats turned off instead of purposefully turning them on.

And most likely this'll be one playthrough for me, so we'll be only male human warrior (I know, no choice on the human part), which makes this a rarity as well for a cRPG.

My first playthrough will be with Male default Hawke as a Rogue.

I will import my female Dalish Warden, and I will play as a (mostly) good character.

Since I like to watch a woman kick but and take names it would be a she Hawke with custom face. I'm not sure how much there altering the classes but I'll most likely do a mage and if included it will be an arcane warrior. Back up plan is a 2 weapon rouge.

Problably warrior. Which is kind of weird, because I almost always go Rogue or Mage (mostly Rogue). Went AW in DA:O and Infiltrator in ME...

And, regarding the customization of character, I am still not sure if I'm going default, since I have became so accostumed at seeing Defhawke and the name Hawke associated. I'm going to try to create a new one, but there's a big maybe that this is the first time I'll go with the default look on an RPG.

I think I'll start with a male rogue. While I have apprehensions about the whole acrobatic-ninja concepts, everything I have seen so far indicates that most fears about this game are not very grounded, and I'm hoping that will hold true for the rogue as well in that it won't be too over-the-top. And I'm hoping the game will let me play as someone who really just wanted a normal life and had the rise to power forced upon them by circumstance.

Custom female rogue. I always play games, if possible, as a custom female rogue-or-equivalent the first time.

On a side note, I hope DAII will provide the opportunity to play a sarcastic character who doesn't sound like a complete douche. Nolan North, here's looking at you.

A male warrior with shield and one handed weapon. Custom face, of course! If possible, slightly sarcastic and mostly good.

Definitely nightmare mode to start. I'll do my first playthrough as a male dual wield warrior or rogue, depending on what the classes of the characters that interest me most are so I can make a balanced group.

After that, I'll probably try doing a nightmare solo playthrough as a mage again.

Melee mage on Nightmare for me, I'd consider an easier difficulty for a first run, I need me my FF though.

I'm not sure how one can be consistently sarcastic without dipping into douche or b--- territory.

<------(Jane Lane)------- Would be my prime example.

But you might have a point...

A feamle Hawke, definitely, and most likely, it will be a rogue, since I always break new RPGs in playing a rogue, which is usually my favorite class in most RPGs anyway. A female mage will be my second playthrough.

Male beardless (I know, blasphemy!) Warrior, incredibly sarcastic. His name will be Sirus. Homenage to a Warrior character from a friend. Oh, and he will be a two-hander, preferebly swords (especially if said sword drinks souls).

Female mage with a hopefully wry, ironic sense of humour. Perhaps dabble in blood magic, should it be available.

I like how "beard" has become part of a character description now.

No Dual Wield warriors in DA2...:(

Really? I am disappoint.

Is there a dev post anywhere that talks about weapon options?

Numerous.  There was a 40 some odd page thread discussing combat mechanics with one of the lead devs, that somehow lost it's sticky status.  I tried finding it to link for ya, but my 30 seconds of patience for it wasn't enough to locate it.

Anywho, warriors are limited to 2 handers and sword and board.  Rogues to DW daggers and bows, and mages to staves.

Mine will be a female mage who'll most likely spec as arcane warrior if possible. Not sure about her attitude, but I might go with humorous.

Oh well, I will live.

Hopefully not all the characters I like end up being rogues this time.

True to form, I'll be starting off with a melee rogue, and I think I'll call her Ada, or Olivia, not sure. She'll be kind hearted if a little irreverent at times, and I'll probably play on hard, though the FF is tempting. As for specs, no clue as of now besides being a duel wielder.

I'm leaning towards a Female Rouge. It's a first for me since I usually start these customizable adventure games with a male. Though I haven't decided if I'm going to play the default face or not. Cause the face we're given of Lady Hawke is tomboy hot.

Warrior, I always do the "good guy warrior" playthrough first as it always seems closest to canon but then I go through it again as an evil mage or rogue.
