I won't have a first playthrough. . . (pause). Yeah, I couldn't bring the negative vibe in here. Just couldn't. . .

Anyway, I'd figure I go with a Mage as my first playthrough -- as I did in Orgins. At least I'll have a good reason this time around, Hawke being from a family of apostates and all. I want to see how that plays out.

Usually I roll warrior on my first playthrough, but this time the mage seems to have gotten some interesting focus (apostate, glowy demon hands, beating up people with your staff) so that's how I'm gonna go. Probably male Hawke, serious, makes usually good choices.

I never plan my characters beforehand - especially since we don't even know what character options will be available.

Options? Before you even start the game you'll be asked to choose a gender and class (rogue, mage or warrior). So yes, we do know what options will be available. Unless you're suggesting that you plan on playing a male warrior but if females have an awesome nose option, well, female rogue it is!

That's going to look real classy in all of the history books.

Warrior, probably female. Can't say what kind of person she'll be until I'm in the game and know the set up, except that she'll basically be 'good.' The rest will develop out of the writing. I can say that she'll look nothing like the preset. That's a given. And I'll be playing her as un-badass as the game allows.

With that beard anything is possible.

I'll play a generic Warrior with a beard the first time, then when I know what I'm getting myself into, I'll play an optimized mage (hopefully Arcane Warrior or the like)

Male warrior.  Sarcastic SOB.  Complete "what's in it for me?" type.

I'll rise to power on the backs of the common man - stealing, scheming, murder for hire if it's an option.  I expect to have a nice little crime empire shortly after getting to Kirkwall . . . and a large crime empire by the end.

Basically, some little girl wants me to get her kitty out of the tree, she better have money.

To plan a character one would need to know about specializations, attribute mechanics, and gameplay mechanics in general.

Then of course you threaten to skin the cat in front of her unless her father supports you bid for power yes?

I had gotten the feeling that the atributes worked the same way as before.
The classes will probably be better balanced than in DA though.

*wistfully remembers the sheer level of destruction a level 20 mage could do*

O h, I forgot to mention, both characters will be flawlessly good guys, but they will be Sarcastic SOBs while they save the people & do their good deeds.

My canon Warden taught me that I have most of the fun with the indifferent, true neutral, sarcastic type of a character. So I might play exactly like that. While I still have to stomach the fact of playing a HUMAN woman then, she will be a DW rogue for sure. Stealthy, stabby and slicy. That is how I love it.

Female badass apostate (most likely battle mage) who hates the Chantry's guts and is very protective of her family. Unclear on the physical description until I see what I'm working with.

I tend to avoid playing mages the first time around, since they're notoriously easy to break (in the bad way).

So either the melee rogue or two-hander or SnS warrior.

It depends on which companions we get, what the skills are like, and so on.

Mage, of course, will be one of the first two playthroughs. Frankly, I don't see the possibility of more than two playthroughs.

Either mage or warrior. Mage looks awesome from a combat perspective, but I feel like the champion of kirkwall should be a massive armor wearing badass.

Female Mage, becoming a Blood Mage ASAP. Try to be mostly good.
