I've always been a fan of male characters as my Paragon (or whatever DA2 calls its moral good system) characters in Bioware games. Therefore, my females always tend to be sword/gun toting Renegades. F! Hawke looks like she could seriously do some damage with a two hander, so I guess M! Hawke will be my rogue.

I guess I'll play a male mage Hawke first.

Preferably goateed, with a ponytail. He will be a sarcastic, cynical realist, who despite all this, tries to help and do good things.

FemHawke, rogue. Always play rogue/thief characters and I'll just play "as myself". That's usually how I play games where the character is "you" instead of roleplaying "what i think is right". That doesn't come until other playthroughes

Rogue female as always... Curious to see how it would turn out as the rogue Hawke in the combat guide's health bar drops VERY quickly...

Rogues tend to dominate my playthroughs, but this time I'm going to start with a mage.

Importing a mage Warden who did the US, and Hawke will share his first name, feel protective of his family (since he is the oldest surviving child) and uncertain (in the beginning) of his magical training.  Perhaps even wondering if he might have been better off having gone to the Tower (look at the great things his Amell cousin? accomplished!).  That also plays into any sub-optimal build choices  the player might make, since I won't have the benefit of previous gameplay experience.

Really wish we had more info (codex type stuff) of what personal history Hawke should already know, what stuff is predefined that isn't plot/story related. Is there family history (Great-great grandma was a Warden, too!), was Da always an apostate, or did he escape from the Circle, and so on.

Some of these things might be open to the player to fill in, of course, but I find it jarring when fill in a 'blank' and ingame find out that it's contradicted by the story.:)

I normally follow this scheme: good male, medium armored fighter, then a female evil heavy armored. In DAO, I broke with that scheme a little, playing an archer as my first playthrough, something I had never done before. The second playthrough was a rude, human female noble, heavy armored tank. Now Im doing mage.

With DA2 I guess I going to further break the scheme. For the first playthough, I may either go for A two-handed sword male warrior, or a female mage (to work alongside my mage sister).
