That was really the point of it though, was it not? I thought that the devs said that every weapon in that "Fire Power" pack wasn't exactly supposed to be balanced with the other weapons, they were meant to be powerhouses.JaegerBane wrote...

My pipe dream:
a full auto assault rifle that has dps somewhere between the mattock and the avenger
This. There's technically already such a weapons in the game and it goes by the name of Locust.... but I'd like a two-handed version
To be honest, I would have preferred if they'd released the Mattock with half the damage per shot, twice the clip and reserve and gave it a full-auto setting. That would have at least given a good compromise between battle rifles and machine guns while still offering an upgrade to the Avenger. In it's current form it renders all other assault rifles - regardless of their characteristics - obsolete.
What weapons do you want to return in ME3?

One thing though.
What's with some of you crapping on the Avenger? Sure it's not a monster of a gun compared to the Revenant or the Mattock, but it's reliable as hell and quite a solid weapon all around in my opinion. I'll admit, that on other classes I prefer the Mattock as the assault rifle of choice, but the Avenger is my gun on the Soldier. Why? As someone said, it's the iconic rifle of ME, so it needs some love (that and arming a Soldier with the Mattock feels like cheating
Though you're all probably wondering why I didn't include in my list. Well as I said, it's the iconic weapon of ME. So having it in the next game feels like a given. So take it easy on the good ol' Avenger people, it's a pretty reliable rifle.
If anything deserves a crapping, it's the Vindicator or Collector AR.

If some weapon deserves crappping, that's the Geth Pulse Rifle. It sucked in ME1 and it isn't any better in ME2.

So I'd like a highly accurate SMG to be included in ME3. Whether or not it's the Locust doesn't really matter.
And I'd like a sniper rifle with the Viper's clip size and rate of fire to appear.

Until recent playthroughs, there was only one gun that I ever truly felt attached to: the Locust. Now it's the Locust and the Viper. I do love the shotguns in this game, but I switch back and forth between them too frequently to favor the return of one specific shotgun.

I disliked the Viper because it was IMO a glorified assult rifle, its completely contrary to the one shot one kill feeling a Sniper rifle should have!

You have the Mantis and then the Widow for that sort of sniper rifle. Isn't the diversity of weapons in ME2 fantastic? Don't get me wrong, though. The Widow and I go way back. But, in all likelihood, a "one shot, one kill," sniper rifle is all but a guarantee for ME3. It's the slightly less conventional weapons that might need more love.

I think the Incisor did a better job with the 3 bullet burst in rapid succession, but maintained the sniper feel a bit better.

Personally, while I like the Incisor, it sucks compared to the Viper. The 3 burst feature eats up ammo too quickly and the horrendous recoil makes it difficult to line up shots in succession. It's a great sniper rifle for your squadmates, but for Shepard it's much too inefficient.Cloaking_Thane wrote...
The Viper just doesnt feel like a sniper rifle to me and never will, others will feel differently though!

The Viper on the other hand, is perfect for a Soldier with Adrenaline Rush.

I just cant get into the Viper, especially with an Infi (my perfered class). Again others may love it, which is ok too!

I think the incisor could be greatly improved, but it still retains the general characteristics of a SR, without being an AR w/ a scope.

I found it awkward on an Infiltrator too. But then I tried a shotgun Infiltrator and everything changed.

Then, upgrades to customize each...
probably won't happen, but I can dream.
Oh -- on topic, I want to see the Widow, Phalanx, Mattock, Locust, and Arc projector, shotguns - any will do, I don't use them if I can help it, but once in a while they are the only weapon able to stop an up close fight in one big boom.

I like well balanced weapons. The Mattock is game breaking on Soldier and overpowered on all other classes, so I would rather not have it return. They claimed it was balanced by a lack of ammo, but it picks up waaay too much ammo per thermal clip to make that a serious limitation. The GPS is also overpowered.
I really like weapons that require you to control your rate of fire to retain accuracy. The Tempest is great in this respect because you actually have to control your bursts in order to be effective at medium range or more. The Locust is just way too accurate without any need for control.
Bioware told us that those weapons were introduced to break the weapon balance. Were you expecting something different?
I was under the impression that the new weapons would change the way we've been usually playing, which it definately did. It changed weapon balance, yes, but it is arguably game-breaking on the Soldier. Personally, I would have added some kickback to the Mattock so that when you're shooting it like a lunatic, you should be losing some accuracy and not getting 16 headshots in 2.5 seconds from 20 meters away.

Actually, the Vindicator was a really good assault rifle until the Mattock rendered it completely impotent. I really like how it looks as well. Heck, I thought all the assault rifles in ME2 were really great.

Dual Locusts or Shurikens would be awesome, even if it was only a certain NPC or squadmate that could use them.

Oh please no. I hated seeing all the weapons I had but couldn't equip in ME1. It was frustrating and felt like the game was punishing me just for not playing Soldier right away. I also liked getting the chance to pick an extra weapon in Mass Effect 2. However, I wouldn't mind seeing weapon and power achievements give players access to extra weapons and talents on their second playthroughs again.Spartas Husky wrote...
the weapon schemes of ME1. where everyone can use everything. But specializations can only be unlocked after you beat the game with the respective class, and reach an achievement. We all know assault rifle with many kills, etc same scheme. Love it, makes my vanguard an awesome type to play.
