I actually didn't like the Jack romance. It was a little creepy O.O
Why did you choose the romance that you did?

Started out with Kaiden, he was ok, was never really that into him. But neither did I want girl to girl action with Liara.
Then Kaidan was so rude on Horizon I wish they would have given us an option to call him something nasty when he calls you a traitor.
Then I meet Thane, and he melted my poor femsheps heart:)

Well, chose Liara: Cute, Calm, a little nerdy ... how could you not love her?
... plus: she really had me with the "more used to machines than humans"-line.

Lol at people saying Garrus owns Kaidan..........
'Kaidan deals with turians on his way to real fights'
Thing is, you can say you like a romance without insulting other people's preferences :-) Just sayin'!

MShep:
ME1: Liara. She wasn't generic or straight forward like Ashley
ME2: Miranda just for the fact that Tali has always sort of bugged me and I didn't think Liara would take me back. I ended up dropping it with Miri and picking it up in LOTSB with Liara.
FemShep:
ME1: Kaiden for something differen't, I still hate him.
ME2: Garrus, par none, my favorite character in ME followed by Mordin,Liara and Wrex.

I chose Liara ... I genuinely liked her character from the beginning, cute, smart and vulnerable and my FemShep just fell in love

Same reason I choose all the romances I do first time around, because Ashley was the first one on screen. Regretted it when I had to turn Liara down but I couldn't just jump-ship, and the "Maybe the three of us..?" route was doomed to fail. Liara every time after though. She's my favourite and there's more of her (content-wise), so why not?

Very, very true. I can understand talking about why you switched LIs from ME1 to ME2...but some people ALWAYS have to bash the ME1 LIs. It's laaaaame.

Yes, as well as totally unnecessary. It's as if some people think they have to break other peoples' opinions down to validate theirs, or something... /rolleyes
There are characters/romances I don't really like, but why say so just to be hurtful to people that like them? It's just mean.

heh..my main Shepard has Ash as LI.Mainly because i find Ashley a great, strong character.Loved her poetry and many of her lines.Dat and becuase she kicks ass...well there is one more...i don't like Liara much(not a big fan, never said i hated her)
i played Fem SHeps too...they are usually single in ME1 and in ME2...Jacob.(I never found him boring or annoying...i like the guy....male Shep wingman with Garrus)
Garrus would have worked if he wasn't in ME1...now he is just SHep(male and female) best friend...and Thane romance is just wrong....
as for my other Male Sheps i have one for each ME2 romance.....
Miranda-cause i like her ice cold personality wich warms up if u help her in loyalty mission and after...interesting character
Jack-found myself interested if u can help her...so i really liked her romance scenes
Tali-ok...just like Garrus i found this weird cause she feels to me like a close friend or even a sister...was very hard to romance her with one of my SHeps
erm ok..so i recently started two playghthroughs with

BroShep:
- Mass Effect 1: Ashley (dead)
- Mass Effect 2: n/a
In Mass Effect 1, as BroShep I chose Ashley (despite being 100% Paragon/25% Renegade and Liara probably being a better fit) because I was curious to see whether or not she was capable of developing as a character past her initial xenophobic mindset towards non-humans. Given my BroShep had a big chip against extremist human agendas (*cough* Cerberus *cough*) and prejudice, if Ashley didn't end up growing as a character because I was following a Paragon path then a confrontation between BroShep and Ashley would have been an interesting story development. As the relationship progressed Ashley did seem to start to lose the chip on her shoulder (I don't know if Earthborn/Sole Survivor played a part in it...), but unfortunately she was left behind on Virmire when I opted instead to protect Kaidan's part of the mission.
Why? I simply didn't realize at the time what was at stake and I always held the hope that Shepard and the team would be able to pull off the miracle rescue to retrieve Ashley and the STG forces with her before it was too late. The immediate story after that was worth it: I wasn't expecting Bioware to allow BroShep to crack a little over the choice given at that point in the game you're 85% of the way through to completing the Romance achievement and the responses from the team and STG survivors was a nice touch too.
I haven't played Mass Effect 2 yet as BroShep to carry my character's story onward, so I don't know how that'll pan out. I'm going to do that next and see what "feels right" given the way things ended in ME1.
FemShep:
- Mass Effect 1: Kaidan
- Mass Effect 2: None (Kaidan)
In Mass Effect 1, as FemShep I chose Kaidan because his Paragon ideals tied well with the repeated character I went with this time around (100% Paragon/25% Renegade) and I found his character development during the relationship to be a good sounding board for the more just and noble aspects of the paragon way. It was really interesting to see how much more Kaidan opened up towards my FemShep given the chasing I had to do to get it (rather than with BroShep where Ashley liked to talk even if what she heard back didn't match her outlook of the universe) and how when the Virmire choice came up again, the survivor guilt was even more present than before when I played as BroShep with Ashley.
Going straight into Mass Effect 2 (which I only just completed) due to the timing of it's release matching up well with when I completed the FemShep run in ME1, I kept straight on with the romance and stuck with loyalty to Kaidan. Despite his harsh words during the chance meeting on Horizon (which were right!) towards my character for "convienently overlooking" my previous disgust and anger towards the actions Cerberus took against my Alliance friends in ME1 and my character (again, Earthborn/Sole Survivor) indirectly, my FemShep remained true to the past relationship and the sad reflection moment right before the Omega 4 relay run was a nice touch in the storyline.
Overall I found the whole romance story run to date with FemShep to be quite good. It'll be interesting to see how it plays into Mass Effect 3 given I didn't have a dalliance with Kelly and shot down Jacob, Thane and Garrus to remain true to Kaidan.

I ended up with Liara more or less by default on my main playthrough in ME1. I was torn between Liara and Ashley but hoped to put off making a decision until the end game. I never got the confrontation however, and Liara showed up in Shepard's cabin. Apparently I mistakenly ended the Ashley romance by asking Liara about Asari mating habits. Damn you Codex!
In ME2 I went with Miranda. Pre-LotSB she's really the only romanceable character that is something of a peer with Shepard. That changes with LOtSB, with Liara emerging as the Shadowbroker.
Not sure how I'm going to go, going into ME3. Torn between sticking with Miranda or getting back with the ex. (Liara)
I'll probably wait to see what roles they both play in ME3. If Miranda for example only has a cameo, she'll be out of the picture.

ME1 - Kaidan. He was the only male choice but I did like him and he fit with my main femshep (paragon/adept).
ME2. I'm working on a final canon run for ME3 and I'm thinking I'll stay faithful for that. In previous runs I've romanced both Garrus and Thane. Both romances were sweet but I prefer Garrus, simply because he's Garrus ;-)

In Mass Effect 1 I didn't choose any, I got to know her and my god she's horrible. Lia'ra is fin but not my type.
Mass Effect 2 is Tali, She is a soft, gentle and caring character, I love it when she's embarresed. And I wonder whats her face is like. She's just a perfect women with nice hips...and legs

I usually try to play ethically, but I hated how naive Paragon Shepard sounds. So I loved it when Jack called me a ****. Jack was the perfect "sidekick" for my Paragon Shepard.

I plan to do all the romances but my main romance is Garrus(He is also my first and so far only ME2 romance that I did). I picked him because he is my favorite character and I wanted to romance him since ME1. Turians are my favorite race and I love his voice. I think that the romance scene was really sweet especially at the end and I can't wait to see how the romance develops in ME3.
For the other romances I've done I did the Kaidan(I left him for Garrus but I will do a stay faithful playthrough soon) and Liara(She was on my second playthrough and I stayed faithful to her) romance and I'm working on a ManShep that will romance Ash and then Tali. Then after that I will do Thane, Jack, Miranda, and Jacob's romances(in that order).

For ME1 I tried all the romances.
For ME2 I did Jack's first, because I... guess I have a thing for fixing broken people? Also, she's pretty awesome, and I love how that story turned out. I just hate the tone in Shepard's voice when he said she had survivor's guilt, though, since it sounded like he was mocking her.
Then, when I finally got LotSB, I went with that Liara F/F romance, because that girl's ridiculously sweet and admirable. Loved the crap out of that, too. So, yeah, I've only romanced the badass biotics so far.

I went with Kaidan because he fit with my Shepard's personality. Actually, I think I subconsciously changed my Shepard's personality from the one I'd set out before I played the game to the one I use now (hence the 100% Paragon with the Ruthless background).
Never played any of the ME2 romances - talking to Jacob made me feel unclean, Garrus was a best friend, not a lover, and Thane... well, choosing 'I want you Thane' after he finishes talking about his dead wife is just wrong. Of course, my canon Shep would never cheat on Kaidan anyway.
Yet to play as manShep, though I'll be starting a run soon.

With the main Shep I went with Tali. That was mostly just because I really liked her character in ME1 and loved how awkward the writers made her in ME2.
Ash was a really intriguing romance with another Shep. It was interesting to try and quell some of her anti-alien beliefs but I had issue with one piece of dialogue. When she said she would sick her dog on a bear because in the end it's not human, I thought a confused Shep should have just stared back at her and said, "I don't get it." When she tries to explain further he replies, "No, I don't get why I would send the dog when I know I can take the bear myself. The dog lives, I toss another seemingly impossible victory on the old resume and Commander German Shepherd and I go home and treat ourselves to some delicious butterscotch sundaes. Check ... mate, chief."
