So I was just playing ME1 again and played Bringing down the sky.   I decided to torture Balak for some info and I forgot that he claims there are thousands of Batarians like him waiting to start up their rebellion.        Anyway... we could see the Batarians playing a major adversarial role in ME3 along with the Reapers.

The only thing that's not clear is how it could be implemented in ME3 from the save file, apparently the only flag is of saving the hostages, no others seem related to BDtS.

So, it could end up a choice similar to the Udina / Anderson Councilor choice, but that's only speculation, on my part.

How ever it goes, I want to go further into the relationship of the Batarians with the Alliance and the rest of the Galaxy.

Sorry I didn't really mean I wanted Balak back... should have clarified. I agree with you that I think the Batarians should play a role in ME3. Balak's threat just got me thinking that the Batarians really don't like humans.

It will be interesting to see how Bioware handles the Batarians in ME3.

I was half expecting one of the Batarians launching the Javelin Missile attack on the Franklin colony to be Balak. Disappointing, as I was looking forward to putting a bullet in his head when there were no hostages for him to hide behind.

It's my understanding that the only way to save the hostages is for Balak to make his escape. Therefore, as long as you saved the hostages, Balak could appear.

I would much prefer to go against Balak's boss, whom he refers to during his torture. I enjoy these kind of mission, Bring down the sky (ME1) and the Javelin attack (ME2). No perfect choice.

No, there is more than just a flag for saving the hostages.

If you save them, you hear a news report about Kate Bowman (IIRC) being at the commemoration of the anniversary of the terrorist attack, with mention of Balak still being at large. IIRC, you get an email from her, as well.

If you sacrifice them to get Balak, you hear a news report about Kate's pastor father leading a candlelight vigil on the anniversary.

That's all you need. If the hostage are dead, Balak is either rotting in a cell in BFE, or dead. If the hostages are alive, Balak is still out there.

Regardless of whether or not he's dead, there's still an opportunity to have a run-in with Batarian, since Balak talked of there being others like him.

Still, if only there was a flag indicating whether Balak was dead or in prison, there could have been a possible mission where you foil the Batarians' attempt to bust him out.

I can see the batarian race working for the Reapers. They hate the other races, and, if the Reapers "promise" some good place after the attack, why not accept it? Of course the Old Machines would betray them in the end, but I doubt the batarians wouldn't want a chance to avenge their people.

As for Balak, if he has a place for ME3, he will show up in just one save I have, since I like to not let him go.
