I was thinking of starting as Thief and dual classing to a Fighter, become maybe a Kensai or Barbarian perhaps, then get the ability to use any armor, but i'm not going to do that if i have to reach a high Thief ability. Never got much of a kick from thiefery when i can just kill everyone... when you fail at pickpocketing you'll have to massacre the whole ****ing village anyway.
ToB Question: Dual classes and high level abilities?

In Throne of Bhaal as a dual classed character, do you have to have a high level in the old class to be given special abilities from that class or is it enough to just have a high level in your new class? Say, i start as a Thief in Baldur's Gate 1, dual class to Fighter level 1 or the soonest possible (when is that, by the way?), will i be able to get the Thief high level special ability to use any items once i reach the level requirement as a Fighter in Throne of Bhaal? Or i start as Fighter in Baldur's Gate 1, dual class to Mage as soon as possible, will i be able to use Greater Whirlwind? What's the level requirement for the abilities?

No, dualclasses only get HLAs for their active class.
You don't need to steal to be a successful thief. Backstabbing, trapsetting, illlusion dispelling, those are very useful combat abilities, especially if you combine the backstabbing with the extra damage from a kensai.
By the way, you can usually only choose a kit for your first class.

Again, thank you for the info, my Bijuu friend. I would've been ****ed without knowing that.

You'd probably be better of having a kensai to level 13 or so then dualling to thief.
