I recently decided to come back to DAO after not having played since "Awakening".

I decided to purchase the DLCs that have been released since then and after "Leliana's Song", I began playing "Darkspawn Chronicles" today.
While I enjoy the DLC more than I originally thought I would, I have now run into a rather nasty bug: I can't enter the alienage, because I can't burn the oil barrels at the entrance. I've read on the wiki that this is a known bug and the only solution is to re-start the campaign. So I did this, only to run into the very same bug again.

I searched the forum and the wiki in the hopes of finding a solution, but no such luck. Still, as my only options are to start the campaign yet again (but why wouldn't it be bugged this time?) or to forget about the DLC, my last hope is that someone here can shed light on this bug and how to avoid it.

Anyone?

Still hoping that someone here might now something, so I'm giving this topic a gentle push back to the first page.

I have now started the campaign a third time and - surprise! - got the same bug again. I have tried playing (= re-starting the campaign) with all my installed mods (official and otherwise) disabled, I have tried playing with quest markers enabled (I usually disable them) and I have of course tried using the emissary's fireball and the fire bombs. Nothing works.

If I can't avoid this bug, is there some sort of console cheat (PC user) that I can use to teleport my party into the alienage and - as I imagine that I won't be able to burn anything in there either - to complete this part of the quest via console?

If there is a way, I'd be most grateful for detailed instructions, because I've never used the console before.

All I want is to finish a DLC I've paid for. :(

Just in case someone else runs into that problem and finds this thread with the search function:

After a week I've finally been able to avoid the bug by (temporarily) moving my whole override folder to another location, so the game couldn't read it. I don't know what mod in my override folder was the "culprit" (previously I had only disabled my dazip mods), so I can't give more details. But if you're experiencing this bug and you're using mods, try clearing your override folder (or move it temporarily).

Oh thank you, thank you so much!

I just did what you said and reloaded the save and it worked XD

I passed it ages ago before I used any mods but being lazy I failed to connect the dots :P

Thank you for keeping this thread up and available. I, too, was stuck outside the alienage gates. Removing the override file solved the problem. Now to go free that stupid ogre . . .

Realized this thread is pretty old, but I ran into the exact same problem today and I can confirm removing the override folder (you only have to move it temporarily) solves this problem!

Thanks a lot, seems like mods caused this bug, but I can safely put them back after saving passed the bugged point. I didn't feel like starting all over again either.

I couldn't burn the oil either, but I didn't touch any folders (I was on ps3), at the end it took time but I could manage burning it, I don't remember how, throwing fire a bit everywhere in the area or something.

But I remember it took time and there was a bug, yes.

The culprit for this bug on the PC is the Dragon Age Rules Fixepack mod, more precisely, the "No Stealth Drop on Friendly Spells" component.
