Hello everyone,
I have recently purchased DA:O for the Mac and, while the game is indeed playable, performance is terrible if compared to the Windows version. I own a mid-2010 iMac 27-inch with an i7 Quad Core processor and a ATI 5750 1GB video card, and if I install the game on Windows on this machine I can play the game with everything maxed out, FSAA @8x and a resolution of 2560x1440 with a smooth framerate (more than 30fps for sure). On the Mac I hardly get 20fps at the same resolution with FSAA@4x (it won't allow me to increase it further). But that is somehow manageable, I can live with that, the game was poorly ported using a technology that is nowhere near adequate for this kind of games. What really bugs me is that the sound quality is TERRIBLE on the Mac, it seems like hearing a 64kbps MP3, I get the dialogue but it's like characters are speaking to me through an intercom. I modified transgaming's config file by enabling full duplex under the [winealsa] section, and the sound appears to have been enhanced to some degree, but nowhere near the quality I get on Windows. Did anyone else had this problem? Oh, I have updated the game to the latest release..
