No, my friend who is female and has no interest in lesbian relationships is sick of having lesbian romances thrown at her which is a perfectly valid complaint as it's not like it's something that happens once or twice, it happens frequently.

Liara says she has a crush on you, which you can shut down ASAP.
Shiala will touch your cheek if you kept her alive.
You have to pretend to be interested in Morinth for the sake of Samara's mission.

And that's it. Any other lesbian content is actively pursued by the player or it's non-existent.
And all three of the above situations are from a species who are all into women. So they might hit on you, just as any bisexual woman might hit on another woman. Tis part of life.

From the previous page.

What about people who play as Femshep and have no desire to have Tali ****** over them.
I have a female friend who is sick to death of having female characters throw themselves at her Shepard or having her Shepard act as if shes into women.

First there was Shaira's groping.
Then there was Liara's creepy I WANT YOU speech.

Then there was the dat ass Miranda scene.
Then there was Liara throwing herself at femshep again on Ilos.
Then there was the forced to be interested in Shiala's flirting.

Then there was Tali's "I only want to link suits with you" **** (I asked her today)
Then there was the seducing Morinth.
Then there was the sexual tension in LotSB.

Now she has nothing against lesbians it's just that having so many encounters where women are all over her Shepard make her feel like shes not in a believable sci-fi universe but rather a childish male fantasy.

The lines I bolded are all entirely optional. I play renegade, I've never had the Shiara issue and Liara never threw herself on me. In fact, I rarely saw any lesbian interest in my Shep specifically because I had the option to avoid it, with exception to Morinth and Tali's lines.

In fact, No one has to tackle these relationships. Isn't that part of the Optional Romance territory thing?

Actually every one you bolded is not optional (unless you completely avoid the characters)
Shaira gropes you no matter what.
Liara confesses her feelings for you no matter what.
Liara then throws her arms around you again on Ilos (you may see that as a greeting between friends but when it's some girl you never really liked who had the hots for you its weird)
If you're paragon and help Shiala, she flirts with your Shepard and no matter what your Shepard does a "Yeah baby" smile.
And you may not of sensed it but others do, theres still that feeling that Liara wants Shepard in LotSB even if you didn't romance her.

In what manner does she group you, because I don't recall her feeling up Shepard unless you asked for, though it probably comes from us having vastly different definitions of groping.
For Liara, do you think it is healthy for the team if Liara just keeps her emotions bottled up?
Oh noes, hugs now mean yer gonna have dirty secks oh wait.. they don't  a hug is a friendly expression and whenever I hug my friends, it is because I'm glad to see them and not because I want to flirt with them.
Again, I cant quite recall the smile you are talking about, but I know that sheploo has that rape face look he does sometimes.
Heaven forbid someone you are not attracted in still be attracted to you, I'm sure that there are plenty of people who would want Megan Fox, but she does not want them.

Sexuality is part of a person's character, if a character is gay/bisexual I want it to be a written part of their character and not have it simply handwaved as "everybodys bi lol".

WOULD YOU STOP DROPPING THIS GODAWFUL STRAWMAN?

We are NOT asking for all characters to be bi.  We are requesting for one character--ONE--who was orignally PLANNED to be bi, to be restored to that status.  It IS written in Tali's character that she admits to trusting Shepard enough to link suits, and has the same obviously fangirly LotSB dossier, regardless of gender.

Stop acting like we want to turn Mass Effect into some godawful fanficcy shipping fest, because we don't.

Liara in ME1 is the only thing you listed that is directly lesbian relationship related.

Sha'ira barely makes contact. Miranda's ass says absolutely nothing about anything because it's 100% a camera angle issue and not an interpersonal relationship issue. Tali's suit linking can be interpreted as friendship, and Shep's smile after Shiala's touch can be interpreted in many ways.

Frankly, if "your friend" is that uncomfortable with 2 openly bisexual/lesbian women merely touching her character then she may be a tad oversensitive about her sexuality.

Actually I wouldn't mind a Bi Turian Councilor, who couldn't just dismiss his feelings for Shepard.
But I digress, no one (here at least) wants a galaxy wide orgy.

I really thought that there were too many romance able characters in ME2... Seriously, if anything, there should be more M/M romances in the game (well, at least 1).

Because she wasn't supposed to be originally and still comes on to FemSheps.

Not uncomfortable, just annoyed that it happens so frequently.

Anyways I've given up on this thread, the only real reason I continued to respond was I felt obligated to defend my position.

Besides, I'm pretty confident Tali's not going to be a LI for females in ME3 anyways.

That would be the biggest possible plot twist ever discovered in the sequel - that the openly critical Turian councilor would be secretly in love with Shepard. But now that you think about it, it seems so obvious lol.

Yeah, really upset at how they chickened out with Kaidan and Tali. But, it wouldn't be out of character if Tali developed feelings for FemShep in the future as a result of them being through so much - and she already seems curious anyway in the current version of ME2.

Have you guys done a poll about this? I bet it would turn out some interesting responses.

It doesn't particularly matter to me whether Tali ends up bi or not.  The only thing I want to ask Bioware for about this is that if they do make her bi again, PLEASE don't get rid of the friendship avenue for Tali. Maleshep didn't get a best friend path like femshep did and I feel like that's a mistake. I love Tali's character, and I was really touched by the linking suits thing (because Ra'an tells you that she did that with Tali's mom when Tali was born) and it's such a nice female bonding moment. Of course I'd like friendship options (that provide closure) for all the characters if you choose not to romance them. So far only Tali, Liara, I'll count Samara as well, and Wrex ("Shepard, my friend" makes me want to cry lol) have that kind of status.

You realize of course that that dialogue there is exactly the same for MShep, right?  The only difference is that if you're playing a FemShep the romance won't activate.  I.e., it's not that they didn't give MShep something that FemShep got, but rather the other way around.

Can you at least try to see things from someone else's point of view?
She's hit on by female character's frequently,  as a matter of fact shes hit on by female characters more than male characters and she would like this to stop happening (or at least happen less) as it makes her feel like shes playing in a male fantasy.
It's not that hard to why she'd have an issue with it.

Why?  No one ever tries to look at things from my point of view.  I've stated already that I'm hit on by male's in games (and I always RP gay females as I am one) yet I can get by with this as I respect other people's desires and their right to have options desirable to them.

GodWood wrote...
Well thats not true.
Theres only 2 'malien' romances and yet there's 3 [sexual] lesbian encounters with asari, 4 if you include the inevitable Shiala fling.

Those encounters are weak.  Also, most NPCs shown around Illium feature asari/malien pairngs...that's what I meant.

GodWood wrote...
I don't know where you're pulling this from, as I've never said lesbian romances are flawed/can't be made better thus should be scrapped.

But don't you see there's a double standard here.  You admit that m/f romances can be fanservice or you don't like unwanted attraction for your MaleShep, but I don't see you in threads asking for more m/f romances (like Kasumi) telling them that there are 'too many' already or that they are nothing more than put in for 'male fantasy'.  Put, here you are doing that in this thread.

Honestly, I can't even remember why I brought her up.

And you keep bringing this up.   What about when a gay male is sick of women throwing themselves at his male character?  And if they are...what should be done about that?

You are still applying a double standard.  If unwanted flirting is bad, all flirting/romances should be removed in order to avoid offending anyone.  However, only the f/f stuff is being targeted.  :?

I think having too many bisexual romances damages the believability of the game's universe.

Yeah, even when the universe contains an entire race of bisexual women:o

Oh, yes, I know, but like you said the romance doesn't automatically activate with femshep. I've seen the male version and I can't say I like it. For femshep the line just ends there and I thought of what Ra'an said and it was really sweet and a nice gesture. With maleshep tali then follows up with that awkward comment and turns it into something sexual (which I would not have gotten because of the prior context, until she said it). I would have been really disappointed if a romance did activate for femshep like the one for maleshep. I feel like the way they handled Tali's romance for maleshep ruined any chance of guys having just a best friend relationship with her. And if you weren't romancing tali then that'd be really sad i think.

Note to BioWare: Bite the bullet and stop recycling nearly every bit a dialogue for both male and female Sheps.  I did a huge facepalm when dudeShep recycled cougar-femshep's "I'm just interested in talking  for a bit"  to Jacob.

Garrus has the friendship status. Even if you romance him and break up with him, he's still your best friend - whenever he isn't calibrating something.
