I think it is Wynne and here is why:
On the map Cumberland, the site of the mage college meeting, is not far from Kirkwall and Wynne is attending this meeting. Sure she could die, but that spirit could somehow bring her back from the brink (it already did once.)
Not really a fan of Wynne either but I have to agree that there is nothing substantial to say she cannot live another 10 years. Even if everyone including herself doubt it. I mean she is sort of possessed by a spirit which is usually supposed to be immortal and could bring her back from the brink of death more than once.
If not Oghren i think it's wynne

But in my heart of hearts, I hope hope hope hope HOPE it's Anders.
I've posted that fact before, at least twice, but I'll say it again: I hope it's Anders. A lot.
But what will happen will happen. Except perhaps Velanna, I can't think of any companion I don't want to have back (yes, I even liked Oghren). Any familiar face will be welcome, even if within seconds it's belched, vomited, and passed gas all over my new Hawke.
I'm sentimental like that.

I'm looking at the cheese wheel right now and it's Near what seem to be Lily's Belonings (bard guitar,Bow,Ect...)Lord Gremlin wrote...
Only Oghren is possible. Also, developer gave us a hint long ago - a cheese wheel. And in DAO Oghren is hanging out near the cheese wheel in the camp.
Or it's a cheese will that will be returning.
But i doubt it's lily as we already have a Bi rogue and already have an archer.

If you killed them, you won't see them in 2. If you spared them, you will. It's really that simple.

Wynne would die halfway through the decade.
Anyone could, it is not like Thedas in the Dragon Age is a setting where everyone dies of old age.

I'm pretty sure the cheese was by Leliana and her stuff.
Though I would prefer the cheese than another run with Oghren.

If it's strictly an Origins character you have as much chance of running into Oghren as you do Alistair and Morrigan, though my suspicion is they were referring to both Origins and Awakenings in which case many things were stated long ago, as well as put in place long ago that points towards Nathaniel Howe being the one you will come across. I've seen subtle hints from some of the earliest threads from devs that pointed towards this assumption.
We already have an archer Rogue, they won't give two of a very small party.
The most likley contenders are:
Anders(due to pic and we need another mage in the party)
Wynne(She could easily be re written to have come back to life twice, and is near kirkwall towards the end of awakening)
Oghren(Bioware favorite and very hard to kill, easy to retconn with little dmg)

If he returns, he will be a Cameo as I suspect Alistair will.
Chances are a lot of different characters will be returning in temporary RP seats, depending whether or not they were killed in someone's play through of DA:O. I can see Oghren, Alistair, and others making a sneaky appearance, but not staying as a permanent crew member.
I still have my bets on Anders. Considering he was only in a DLC, he picked up a pretty sizable fan following, and he has a really interesting and funny character that would be a waste not to explore.

Plenty of characters have plenty of Story left to explore, and I doubt bioware really care about fan following when writing there story. Alotta people liked their warden to.HolyJellyfish wrote...
The whole Drunken, Lecherous, Foul Mouthed, Nasty dwarf trope has run its course. He's been in two games, I doubt he'll take another Party place in the third one.

He's my best bet as well but i wouldn't rule Oghren out as he is a Bioware favorite.

Really?? Because in my game he squealed like a little girl when I gave him a kitten and named it Ser Pounce A Lot. I don't know many "very clearly hetero" guys that get *that* excited about a kitten...
Anyway, I know a couple guys who, when you first meet them, seem to be "very clearly hetero"... but they're not.

But i was much more reffering to him hitting on Mharai and saying how ser pounce alot could help him pick up chicks.

And if I remember correctly, Anders was quite the jokester: it's possible he was just being sarcastic!
Anyways, when I was in the closet, I used to hit on girls all the time!
Basically nothing you can say will convince me that it's not *possible* for Anders to be bi. But nice try!

My bad, apparantly you've given this some deep thought where I obviously have not. My mistake for thinking you might actually run into someone before they learned all that archery stuff, or even that since the game is set up in a different style that the character could be built differently, or even that since that's a charact that spent time up in that region, that it could possibly be him. What was I thinking? Thank you for setting me straight on this.
Forgive the touch of sarcasim, it's natural and comes out with zero effort on my part. Honestly I don't care who it is to tell you the truth because Hawke will know them for a hole in the wall to begin with.
