That, and I think we all just need to accept that Oghren will never die. He'll keep showing up in every Dragon Age game that will ever be made. He'll gain immortality from some fade ale he drinks or something.

He's dead in my game. That means he'd be a zombie. I don't want a zombie dwarf.

Probably Morrigan
That is the last likely companion. We all know Morrigan has a hand to play, but her role as a party member is over. She is plot now. Whoever is coming has to be from the original game. They have to be someone who everyone would have at the end of all the games. So, all characters who have a chance to die in Awakening obviously couldn't show up.

Howe. What a character he was.

If it's Oghren again then I think I'm going to be sick.
He was bad enough in Awakening; I can't possibly imagine how disgusting they'd make him for DA2.
Don't worry, it's bound to be Zevran; he had to come down from Antiva to Ferelden, and the Free Marches are directly along the way. How else would he know Isabela? He came on her ship. It makes sense.

However irritating (but not badly written) Oghren may be, this would be kind of awesome.

And if that means another Archdemon.
And that person's death.
And if it is a party member from Awakenings, then how the decisions you made will reflect their character.
Just a thought. Unlikely, I know, but a thought.

The guy between Varric and Isabela is still looking like Zevran to me, and it makes the most sense plotwise, so I'm gonna have to assume it's him for the time being.
Besides, you'd think if they say Origins, they don't mean DLC or Awakening. Otherwise they'd just say "a character from the DA universe" or "from a previous DA game" to keep the brush stroke broad.

I can consider Zevran as a temporary party member but nothing further than that, since there are so many opportunities for him to get killed.
Yup... Zevran is one of the easiest characters to kill. He won't make it in the sequel for anything more then a cameo. Companions take a TON of work to make, as I'm sure you can all imagine. It ain't gonna be anyone whose very easy to kill in DA:A or DA:O.
Which strikes Liliana off the list as well imo.
I wonder... do you think whoever is coming back will talk allot about the Warden and incoporate some of his/her's decisions? Would be a great tie in!

Unless he explicitly said that they are recruitable, my vote is on Alistair just as a cameo, and that's only if you haven't killed him.

Wait. I'm not able to access the interview at all. How is anyone sure that when they say one party member from Origins is returning in DA2, they mean that person is recruitable?

Well, even if the interview doesn't strait out say it (which I'm not sure about, didn't read it), it's a safe bet to guess at least ONE old companion is returning.
Has there ever been a bioware sequel where this wasn't the case?
Baldur's Gate series, Kotor series, ME series, all had returning companions. I can't see DA2 breaking that trend. On the other hand the BG series and the ME series star the same main character... so... hmmmmmmm.

Certainly Shale makes the most
sense, simply because she'd be a dwarf with a totally different look,
voice, etc. she'd be like a totally new character and an old familiar
character all at the same time, you can't beat that. Having said that,
I'd also be quite happy with Velanna, Sigrun, or Leliana.
Nope. She makes the least sense, being both VERY easy to kill and a DLC character. I would guess the least likley.

Also, why does it look like Aveline's scratching her armpit with a dagger?

Exactly why giving him more camera time might be seen as a good thing. The story of DA2 starts before Zevran gets killed. There may even be a reason why you had to go and get a treaty before Zevran shows up. Who's to say they didn't bat the idea around during Origins?Wishpig wrote...

Mike Laidlaw :"There is at least one case of someone who was in the party who will make a jump into the party in DA2 but I am not saying who"
Actually it was not said that the recruitable NPC was a permanent member in DA:O, It could just as well be Meryll from the Dalish Origin or someone from a DLC like Finn. There likely will be several cameos of others though.
