I really believe it should be Anders, he's just too good of a character for his story to end at Awakening.

And I'd argue that he's also the companion with the least amount of backstory given in the game (and he doesn't really grow much as a character in Awakening).

Oghren because he is awesome or Zevran since you will go to Antiva or something like that. 1 of these 2 most likely

Oghren, perhaps. Zevran, however, can be killed onscreen at two different points of Origins.  I can see them handwaving an epilogue death, but not so much an in-game death.

I'm hoping for Nate, since it mentioned a few times about his time in the Free Marches. I suppose I just feel odd about how it'll work out, having a returning companion. Maybe your ending saves will affect their backstory appropriately? I hope so, I still liked Anders so I won't throw a fit if he's back.

If it's Oghren again, I may cry myself to sleep.:crying: No more Bioware, I beg of you!

Nate was pseudo-confirmed in a vague way so I'm still holding out hope for that one.

If it is Nate - I'll start sending large quanities of quality home baked goods to a certain place in Canada.

One thing is certain, it will be either Alistair; Anders; Dog; Justice; Leliana; Nathaniel; Oghren; Secret companion; Shale; Sigrun; Velanna; Wynne; or Zevran.

I don't think so, it's pretty much confirmed she's not a prominent character in DA2, also she went through the eluvian at the end of witch hunt, I doubt the eluvian gets her anywhere in Thedas.

For all we know, she/they came back 20 minutes later

PC: Didn't I just stab you?
Morrigan: Yes, you stabbed me once. I'm level 25. I'd say it's shocking that after 80 hours of playing the game, you haven't grasped the basic mechanics, but it is you we're talking about.

The Eluvian is actually a portal to an elven Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Morrigan can now transform into SSJ 2.

David has recently said that, no matter what a places'/characters' etc outcome in a previous playthrough, if they want to bring them back from death etc, they will. So really, its anyones guess

So long as it really isnt Oghren :( Once is enough, twice is too too much, a third time? Bleugh

Anders? Boring. Leliana? Barf!

Hoping for Nathaniel Howe. Or Shale. Shale would totally rule the school. Qunari are squishy creatures, too, and they need to be reminded of that fact!

Yes because in Lothering he meets Hawke who releases him.

Nathaniel spent a year in Kirkwall? It's like we planned this!

Note: We planned this.
Note2: Wonder how many other side references are actually foreshadowing?
Note3: "The part that will really bake your noodle is whether you would have broken the vase if I hadn't said anything."

I'm hoping for Anders, but Nathaniel has more chances at this point.

While Nate and possibly Anders are suitable for making an appearance in the game, I'm afraid they wouldn't be able to be full-time companions, as they'd both need to be back in Ferelden by the time of Awakening, which would be rather early in DA2. Of course, Mike might've meant temporary companions and not full-time ones, who knows.

As I see it, the best bet would be on one or more of the DLC characters (Silas, Sketch, Ariane, Finn or the Dace brothers) - that way, there's a chance to expand on largely untouched characters to sate the curiosity of those who played the DLCs, while at the same providing new characters for those who didn't. Plus, there aren't any plot deaths preventing them from making said return. The Dace brothers aren't very likely, as there would be little reason for them to leave Orzammar; Finn doesn't seem very likely either, it'd be hard to imagine him leaving the Ferelden circle; Ariane is a little more likely - it's not inconceivable that once she recovered the stolen tome she and her clan left Ferelden to join Marethari's clan in the Free Marches (though I wonder why the dalish would not move to the lands given to them after the blight); and Sketch and Silas seems the most likely, as we really don't know what happened to them after defeating Raleigh - though Silas said he wanted to serve the chantry (maybe by becoming a templar and getting transferred to Kirkwall?), and Sketch could've also gone to Kirkwall to get far away from Orlais (and subsequently getting captured and imprisoned in the Kirkwall Circle?)

Or, you know, they could screw our expectations and theories and toss in Oghren again, you never know ^_^ (truth be told, I really liked him, but story-wise I don't think it'd make much sense)

As long as Nate and/or Anders get to hang out with my fem!Hawke and Fenris even for just a bit, it's all good. Think of the banters my group could have! Two blood mages, a rogue, and a warrior walk into a bar in Kirkwall...

*ahem* Now, if Oghren or Velanna are revealed to be returning as companions, temp or no, will somebody please warn me before the inevitable crapstorm hits? I want a chance to hide.
Can't wait to find out who the returning companion(s) will be, though. I'm all giddy with excitement. Weeee! Posted Image

Here's a list of party members and how they can die.
Alistair- executed at Landsmeet
Leliana- killed at Lothering, killed at Urn
Wynne- killed at Circle, killed at Urn
Sten- killed at Lothering
Zevran- killed before you even talk to him, killed during Landsmeet
Shale- killed at Anvil
Dog- killed at Ostagar, never picked up
Oghren- can be killed in Awakening if left at keep without upgrades
Velanna- can be killed at woods or keep
Anders- can be handed over to Templars or killed at keep
Sigrun- never picked up, goes to die in deep roads, dies at keep, killed at Architect
Justice- killed at Architect, killed at Keep
Nathaniel- executed, killed at Keep

This leaves only a few possibilities (disregarding how the framed narrative could allow for this): Morrigan, the Dace Brothers, Silas, Sketch, Finn, and Ariane. I'm including the DLC companions because the developers have mentioned including DLC characters in the story in some way or another. Morrigan probably won't be in there because of the Eluvian (but I would like to see super-moody pregnant Morrigan as a companion- that'd be a riot). Also, she's confirmed as not as prominent in DA2.

Of course, it could be that if that person died in DAO, then you won't get them as a companion (Bioware seems to have no qualms about killing a companion from the start, judging from this whole Bethany/Carver business). I hope they don't do this. Or Bioware could wave the magic retcon wand.
I hope that however it is gets to tell super awesome stories of the warden to Hawke.:)

Alistair can also be fed to (or feed himself to) the archdemon, and that is NOT an uncommon ending!

Edit: I can see Zevran on his way to ferelden as a companion.  I can see Velenna when you head to the Dalish as a companion.  Just because they can die does not mean they a) will die and B) are dead the entire span of DA2.

I would LOVE Oghren to make a return. My favorite DA:O character... but...

A. He could die in awakening. I believe, like all the other companions, he can die if you leave him to defend the keep and it's not fully upgraded. Of course he dies in the background. They could easily have him appear and say, "nope I didn't REALLY die." Easy retcon.
B. He did get to be in two games. I love him. I would pay $30 for a DLC that just adds him into DA2... but that's me. There's other loved characters who fans really want to see return. Oghren had his turn, now its only fair if someone else does.

At this point I'm figuring we're going to see pretty much everyone. At least for a little while. Except for Morrigan. And I'm completely giddy with happiness about it!
