You can notice trolls by their rather recent joining dates.

Agreed ^_^

As some of you know we had a press event here at the BioWare studio in Edmonton recently. Roughly 30 press attended for 2 days of interviews and hands-on with Dragon Age 2. Some of the articles are starting to surface and I am happy to see that the first impressions are quite positive:

If they were not positive, you would not be posting them. Lol... Since you work for BioWare in some capacity, I would say that those reviews were posted in an act of self-serving. Lol...

I am just saying.

I will wait until 'random' players start posting reviews. Everyone who has played the game thus far are giving good reveiws, so that they can get on the good side of the publishers and developers. Lol...

"I will send you more games to test, so that I can get good reveiws and sell more games. - If you give me a horrible review, I will stop sending you games to test... and, I will stop sending you inside information about the projects we are working on."

I know how it works. Its called but kissing on one end (to stay in the loop), and controlled public relations on the other end (to sell more of the product).

A hundred bucks says the mainstream gaming online & print magazines will be kissing BioWare's behind.

Reviews are what they are, they are like movie reviews. Mostly they rate games at above mediocre, 70-80%, at times, good games, which are usually the games that have big budgets get 90's. However I have once or twice seen a game with a big budget get bad reviews in major magazines.

Mostly I trust the company, if they generally make games I like, and the game looks decent, it will probably be another game I like. So far my strategy works for me.

So conspiracy theories about payola aside I liked this from one of the reviews:

"Gone are the doldrums of constantly shuffling between Denerim and Orzammar for this or that fetch quest -- BioWare promises a focused narrative with an equally focused gameplay arc."

DAO wasn't nearly as bad even as FNV where at times I felt like I was doing a job I had so many "to do's" open at the same time.

Clearly to me that DA2 has adopted some signatures from ME2: only one preset main player character, and dialog wheel etc. I just don't want the game is too similar to ME2 and becomes "Mass Dragon Effect" as somebody already called it. This is also a sign to me that ME2 sold better than DAO.

I acctually can't wait for this game to come out. I don't really care about the similarites of other games, it's a good story, open environment, everything you do changes the world and dialogue so high replay value, and if they make a char like alistair in it I will be overjoyed. I prefer the nerds to the hulks, thats right speak nerdy to me :P

Incorrect on that account.

If you dont choose the present hawke there are several base faces to chose from which you can then customize.

I've read a lot about how there's considerable pressure to create positive reviews, as some gaming software and hardware companies simply stop allowing those who give negative reviews any early access to the products.

I have the game on pre-order, but I'm stuck between waiting for the first wave of real "in the wild" reviews before spending more than the $5 I have sunk, and making sure that I get the benefits of the pre-order (signature edition or whatever it's being called).

It's obviously becoming similar to ME2, as Bioware want the same engine and dev tools to save cost and speed up development time. That's not a bad thing though, as ME2 is also an excellent game.

There was something special about DA:O, though. It had a certain feel that would be a shame to lose.
