Hei, i bought BG and BG2 on GOG some days ago, i have problem with some minor graphic, its the glow and color of the fireplaces and som spells that instead of just seein the glow color i see a box with glow color, its like a black box thats orange, same with spells instead of just a black box its color.

I am using a ati radeon mobility 5650 newest driver running windows 7 64bit, i have installed tutu to see if that helpd, the graphic became mutch better but its the same with the glow color.

I hope you understand what i mean i am not good in english!

Thanx

Some suggestions...
  • Try enabling/disabling 3D acceleration from the game's config utility. (I don't think vanilla BG1 has this option, though.)
  • Open the ATI Catalyst Control Centre and try experimenting with different settings, and testing them in-game. For example, you could try switching anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering to 'Use application settings,' or setting Catalyst A.I. to 'Standard' (or disable it altogether). Try disabling VSync and triple buffering, too. Hopefully something will help.
  • Try a different set of graphics drivers. Yes, this will mean you'll have to downgrade, but since Baldur's Gate is an old game, you might find improved support in an older driver build.
  • Take a look at the possible resolutions at the bottom of this post. In particular, the Compatibility Administrator and D3DWindower may be of some use to you.

I had graphical glitches like there was no tomorrow; The background on the main menu flickering between the background and black. The mouse leaving a trail of mouse pointers. Random sprites (i.e. when my character walked it would randomly get different sprites) and much much more. I managed to fix this after editing the ini file where it states where to look for the CDs. As I had already copied the contents of those folders to the root dir of BG I pasted those in and it was all good.
Now I just have to fix the wrong sound files playing and some characters having the wrong models. (as in this thread)
